    Great job! You have mentioned exactly things I had to go over to settle with the watch. It's not perfect with sleep tracking, but GPS and pulse tracking is the best. Also, despite imperfect sleep tracking it still manages to provide decent body battery estimates

    • @bmaulanasdf
      @bmaulanasdf 2 года назад +8

      Sounds like the opposite of my Fitbit. I hope one day we'll have a watch with Garmin's GPS and HR tracking, Fitbit's sleep tracking, and Samsung's software and aesthetics...

    • @Suleimenoff
      @Suleimenoff 2 года назад +6

      @@bmaulanasdf actually I think this Garmin ticks most of the boxes. Of course it does not have those apps to fiddle with, but then the battery life is perfect (8-10 days in my case). In my opinion only the sleep tracking needs to be improved. And this is something that can be done with software updates. So I'm quite happy with my purchase )

      @@Suleimenoff I don't know.. it has comparable results with the Mi Watch that costs 200 bucks less... yes, it's overall better, but by a very small percentage... honeslty it baffles me a lot. Not about Garmin per se, but about these trackers...

      Fitbit is a scam. The data is only available with a subscription (making the watch cost double every year) and their watches don't last past a year. So you'd have to pay double every year. Garmin has no fees.

    • @kengurooable
      @kengurooable Год назад +1

      @@screamtoasigh9984 it depends on your needs. I find that the data you can get for free is more than enough. As for the longevity of the device, maybe they changed something with newer devices but my Alta HR still works pretty well. Have it since 2016.

    • @screamtoasigh9984
      @screamtoasigh9984 Год назад

      @@kengurooable you mentioned sleep tracking - that is subscription. You are lucky your watch held out, I had a fitbit, died about 5 months in, they replaced it, it died 6 months later. Before the first one died I bought my brother one, at the time, latest model (so an upgrade from mine) his died a month later and had to wait for a replacement that took about 6 weeks. So far that's held up. What are the chances in 18 months three different, all brand new fitbits dying (all bought from Amazon, so it's not like I was getting random old stock merch from the corner store. I bought it expressly for sleep tracking (especially spo2), all the reviews said it was the best, only to find that the data that was free everywhere else was subscription only. Super scam. (Their forums are also horrible, it was photos that should have been only for adults.. In the SLEEP community. Naked in bathtubs. You couldn't block anyone either.) I really wonder why they are so loved. I'm happy you like yours, don't get me wrong, my comments are solely to warn others that if they think buying a fitbit is a one time purchase to track sleep, they're being misled.
      (I'm not going to say other devices such as Garmin don't have their faults, I'm not oblivious, but I'm not being scammed by a subscription either. If fitbit made this absolutely clear I would have less of an issue with them. Garmin also has free workouts and coaching. And the straps come off/attach in a way that doesn't leave build-up when you wear it in water all the time.. ) also, I guess Google owns fitbit now? 😳

    • @screamtoasigh9984
      @screamtoasigh9984 Год назад

      @@kengurooable I just looked it up, I was going to mention what model I had all I went to look it up and it says as of March spo2 and breathing rate, is now free. I guess I wasn't the only one who thought it was a scam 😁 . The other sleep aspects - restlessness, readiness, etc are still subscription.
      If companies do a subscription I'm ok with that as long as it's up front. Like the oura, I don't have one but it was made very clear it's needed. My biggest issue with fitbit is they hide that you need a subscription for features they advertise.
      The best part imho was the challenges, they killed that... Garmin now has challenges. 😁

    Hey, it would be awesome if you included in your videos some mention of the process of obtaining the raw data from the watch/vendor. For instance, Garmin's process of getting the raw data is complete bullshit, and had I known this, I would have avoided them as a brand. I think many of the folks watching your videos care deeply about data and stats, and so access to such things is really quite critical. Thanks in advance, please keep up what you are doing!

Given how different the results are (especially REM) when comparing to the two different headbands, do you have concerns about the accuracy of the headbands themselves? Could the difference in results from the Garmin study and your data come down to the EEG device used?

    Servus,
    Which SmartWatch would you recommend (Android compatible)?
    I used Garmin Venu2 for a couple of months and recently the Heartrate monitor and pulse oximeter stopped working. For some reason the green lights from the sensor didn't appear in spite of several restarts and hard reset. Unfortunately had to return it back. I'm sure the sensors got shorted internally as they were draining out the battery from full charge to 10% within 4 hours.
    Mach's gut!

    could the deviation during cycling activity be related to the wearability of the device? The results are strange... it's a cardio activity like spinning.

    Just curious, will you ever take a look at the ticwatch pro 3? Seems like it's the only wear os watch with decent fitness tracking.

      @@sempremodesto1 more or less everything, but mostly the sleep tracking, which was all over the place (compared to a fitbit which I also slept with). Strees was random and meaningless. 24 puls tracking didn't work and there where huge lapses in the tracking
