Hi Peter, great review of a very nice crane, personally I believe they could have done so much more with this model, the static jib is a bit of a letdown in my opinion, some movement is better than no movement for the price tag, keeping the cost down is probably the main aim here, Bachmann and Liliput produced a small Plasser crane truck a few years ago that was self propelled or motorised, I’m sure this model will be taken to another level by a few modellers who will do what EFE Rail could have done during the development processes, it’s the 4th crane I’ve seen on the British model railway market in 5 decades, Hornby have their 75ton model and their ex-Lima model in their Railroad range, Bachmann have their 45ton Ransom & Rapier crane released back in 2019/20 which was an excellent model and the best manually operated crane on the market by a mile, the price was extremely high but has fallen by over 45% over the years except the red livery model which is still going for over £225 and more to this day. I believe Viessmann would make this crane a top tier model if they got their hands on it, I will invest in one eventually because I’m a big fan of the departmental yellow livery, I hope Accurascale or Cavalex or Revolution Trains produce a crane because they are ignored and shouldn’t be, many thanks for sharing.
Cheers Stormmy, I do agree, would have been nice to see the jib move but I don't mind it as I could only really use that for a photo shoot sort of thing. I'd like to see Accurascale take on doing a Tamper personally or maybe doing another crane of some sort
@@class47peter Hi Peter, as an Accurascale fan I too would like to see them produce a Plasser vehicle of some description but I doubt they ever will, they are focused on models that sell quickly and meet all their quotas, I’m not too sure but they may have access to the Rail Heat Treatment Train wagons mouldings but they ignore them even though they would sell like hot cakes, personally I would buy 2 sets of them, I’m not prepared to pay £150 plus for a secondhand set of DreamBay, totally off topic but didn’t Accurascale get an award for the Hatton’s class 66 recently? That’s a gift to them as far as I’m concerned because the Cavalex class 56 was the best locomotive of 2024 by a long way, it was developed from the ground up and the sound file is superb for those who model sound, also the best coach of 2023 was the Revolution Trains ‘Caroline’ model in my opinion. If manufacturers want to take on another manufactures mouldings then Dapol’s MRA wagons need to be rescued and another run should be made, such a great wagon with an horrendous secondhand price tag, I wish these manufacturers would wake up and see what’s in front of them even if the runs are limited it’s still something in this unique hobby.
That's the second review of this crane I've seen where there's been a pair of wheels dislodged out of the box.
Great vid and review Peter!!! Many thanks for sharing. Cheers Onno.
Cheers Onno, glad you enjoyed
Excellent review here Peter, might look at getting one of these as they are very nice and interesting but funnily enough I have just picked up recently one of the Bachmann Ransomes and Rapier 45T cranes, such a shame that the crane arm is static, I can understand that you don’t mind it as you will be running it more than displaying it but for me personally I would have liked to see the crane arm have some movement in it especially as cranes before this ny other manufacturers all have that ability, excellent review overall though Peter.
Cheers David, I get what your saying about the static jib. It would have been nice to see it move but I'd struggle to justify it moving on my layout due to it being double track.
If a under the wire crane with moving jib was required the Kibri rail crane would be required. As a kit or ready built at a price.
Curious are they kept indoors when not in use or stored parked up on a siding in a. yard.its a bit plastic looking and a good weathering would be interesting.
Parked up in sidings, have seen them parked in sidings on photos and have on occasion seen some down in the yard at Bescot
