    Best I had was a neutral earth fault in Harrogate, massive house, couldn’t find anything on multiple occasions, kept getting called back, went back and it happened to be windy, turned out a tree was blowing against an armoured cable next to a coping stone 7ft in the air, cable had chaffed and when the tree pressed it faulted.

      Ah that’s amazing 😂 did it not show up on insulation resistance test? Also you from Harrogate then? We do quite a bit there.

      @@finneyelectrical nah, got decent results, even on global, was going down the route of too much earth leakage causing a random trip, had another bash at it and finally got a low reading bouncing around and followed it. Customer couldn’t believe it as much as me. Yeah I cover north Leeds, Harrogate and york normally

    Quick question, why did you remove one neutral cable and test, then test the rest together in the neutral bar?

    • @finneyelectrical
      @finneyelectrical  7 месяцев назад +1

      For the first cable you take out I just test the bar to see if the first cable cleared everything. Just was lucky on this one that the first cable I pulled was the problem one 😂 but yeah usually it shows 0.01 or what ever showing there’s an issue on one of the other circuits.

    Thanks for the video. The more fault finding videos the better for me. Did I hear you say that you test at 100V? Why not 250V

      @alvina69 7 месяцев назад +1

      Belts and braces… I doubt anything would be damaged even if he done it at 250V but it’s obviously safer to do it at the lowest voltage you can.

      250v over 500v, so I don’t kill any electronics ⚡️ ☠️

      Cheers John! Do you do much fault finding?

    Turn the MCB's off, reset the RCD then turn the MCB's on one at a time. RCD will tripping when you turn the garage MCB on. Get paid without even getting the tester out.

      Ah like it lad! I’ve done that before until once there was multiple faults, so now clear all circuits with the IR test to cover arse. Hate the call on the way home when it’s still tripping 😂 your like Nooooooo……
