LET ME DO MY JOB! In maybe our most dramatic episode yet, I am working on a house renovation in York. We're first fixing and second fixing in one fell swoop. We've got numerous sockets to drill out and wire up for the new kitchen renovation. Throughout the rest of the house we're focused mainly on the lighting, replacing most downlights and pendant lights respectively. Not only do the neighbours start beefing with me, I also got abused by some scammer on the phone so all in all its been an eventful project! 😅

HOW TO WIRE A HEATING SYSTEM! (S-PLAN) 🔥⚡
Mental math is always hard 13:16 haha
Nice 👍
Excellent content again, nice tip on the downlight hole maker thing. ive watched the first fix and it was very interesting just got slightly confused on where the 2 bundles of 2.5 mm t&e where going. Did you do a standard ring as in point to point or did you do a balanced ring? Really interesting very good content indeed young man. Keep up the good.
Excellent content again full of good stuff, technical and comedy all in one. what depth do you chase your walls for the 2.5 mm T&E cable just as a matter of interest? Liking your style, and you made me salivate with that steak and chips, good job again thankyou.
Makes me laugh it be different if you're doing the work for them these people seem to think that you drill as a silent button on it
Yeah they are nuts! 10-3 working hours haha and I better not start till then. Some people are not realistic, definitely when it’s once every ten year for a 2 week Reno 😂 you a sparky?
I was putting up a 30w led PIR to cover rear entrance 2 floors and a neighbour who lives 38 metres away(i measured distance shouted me off the ladders and screamed at me to turn it off as its hurting her eyes😂😂 i said dont look at it then, and i told her there are another 2 goind up either side, she said i am not putting any more up, 😂😂 i put the other 2 up
Haha 😜 it’s bad ain’t it when it’s nothing to do with you. Deal with the customer if you have a problem, unless you want to pay for today’s wage to make me leave 😂 were they old?
@finneyelectrical yeah OLD,,it's funny you mentioning wages as I was going to say to her pay my days wage and I will go then, by the way you are right I keep the scammers in the phone now and do silly voices to them as it is preventing them getting to the vulnerable
Great video, York is a pain for parking, had day out there this year so recognise where you are working, 👍
Yeah nightmare! You could park in the Sainsbury’s for cheap but it’s just 2 hours now! Had to take the parking fine when we had our staff do 😢 didn’t have time to re park
The longer video is a treat, so much chaos in one video. You handled it all like a pro👌🏻that scammer had enough, my man isn’t getting that commission or bank details💀😂class video as always mate! Gotta ask, when fitting those down-lights, do you install new wiring or do you use the old wiring and just slap them in a waygo/junction box and simply link them through the waygos?. Again Finney, class video which killed me😂keep up the ace work and keep your head up my man cause you’re smashing it👌🏻
Thank you Bobby! Man of many kind word’s 😎 yeah I can’t stand the scammers! But me they shouldn’t have my number and 2 I’m going to waste their time so they don’t scam anyone else. So I Wago box the cable coming through to the new down lights in and out. Had to cut a few access holes to get the cables through which took some time. Might be the staff do next video 😂 can’t remember what I’ve filmed
You on Aldwalk this week?
Not sure what it’s called, just down the side of your move 😁
It’s a nice part of York, just a shame about some of the residents!👿
What size gland did you need for the armoured cable to the Tesla wall connector? I think most glands for 6mm/3-core SWA/armoured cable all seem to be 20mm - would you recommend an insert to try and take this from 20 to 25mm+ or just a different type of gland - any recommendations? Thank you for the video - looks a tidy install 😎
Sure I replied to this haha 25mm just fits I think. 25mm plastic compression for Tesla side as you don’t want to export the houses earth. 20mm armoured good on the inside. Cheers for watching!
Just a quick one, you pulling the lighting circuit onto rcd is it not a requirement to have the rcd upgraded to type A as you have install new wiring? Keep up the good work cheers
Heya the Steve! Cheers for the watch and subscribing. So the requirement is if it’s going to go over 6ma dc it will blind a normal type AC RCD. This is a tiny house so will never go over that so the existing RCD is fine. You should measure it though with a dc clamp meter with everything on 👌
@ nice one appreciate it mate
Very down to earth, helps older newbies like myself to see what happens in real life work
Ah cheers Ben! Are you retraining? I try to keep these very real world, there’s a lot of fake accounts that just post their best work but it doesn’t always end up that sweet most days haha
Excellent video, that crispy white JB was that a ceiling rose doubling as a JB and what happened had the old cable been arcing you probably said but I was munching sweet chilli sensations crisps and maybe missed it. Great content keep them coming.
Haha can beat the sweet chilli!
So they are old style “pork pie” junction boxes, usually has 4-5 screw terminals in. They are a ok to use if you can get access to them but aren’t a maintainable connection so can’t just hide these to get plastered over. I much prefer the ago boxes and Wago connectors
Great content thanks, keep up the good work.
Cheers Angela! Are you an electrican yourself?
rented property 5 yrs ok what if the property has several tenant lets in that period . should be done on each let
It does say change of occupancy but no landlord is going to let that fly 😂 most try get away with the bare minimum. This was a property to sell so 10 year as it’s owned not rented
Still my favourite electrician on RUclips.
Ditto ❤️
Cheers JIBS! Keeps me going 💪 thanks for commenting too, helps push out to more people, not easy to grow when the next biggest is on a few hundred thousand subs haha it’s not about the numbers as I love doing the vids, but would be nice to do give aways!
Thank you Mrs hepple!
👍👍👍
Cheers billy! Hope you’re not in the floody area in York. Had a nightmare in traffic on Haxby road today. Took 40min to travel a usually 7min drive!
@ oh dear, sounds like you are not having a good day. Haxby road can be bad at the best of times. People queuing for the hospital on wiggy road doesn’t help matters though. I always try avoid that part of York if I can on an afternoon.
Love a good rewire 😀 nice work brother
This was a take over job so was a bit of a nightmare! Started blowing up at the end one of the circuits
Having the boxes so far back was a bit ridiculous to start with.
It’s a joke ain’t it! We got told to chase them in and returned to find all the walls had 70mm insulation 😂 cant trust customer 😂
Great video until the RCD main switch! That's just a no no and all it's saved them is around £100 if that with Fusebox.
On a budget, can’t all have money 💰 would have loved a clean sweep. Funny how some sparkies think everything has to be rcbo these days. The reg is if it’s going to go over 6ma dc, which non of these circuits can’t. A weird snobbery
@@finneyelectrical I guess the issue is no one can see down the line as to how anything changes. I'm pretty sure it says that an RCD as main switch isn't right🤔
@simonr1392 nah you can buy a garage board that’s literally this? There’s no way of the circuits we have on there will go over 6ma so will be good. Wouldn’t risk it with lighting though, too much with led lighting 😁
Trades walking off site= alarm bells.
💯 not the easiest customers but getting there
Spam & egg! I have never ever seen that on offer in York and I hope it stays that way😂
Yorks missing a trick, too nice 👌 you not tried it?
Spam and egg?-- no, no and no!🤣
Hi , mate Enoch watching live from Ghana
Yes Enoch! Nice to have you comment and enjoy the video!
Love the video, made me laugh within the first 2 minutes😂clean work as always my man!
Cheers young Bobby for the comment! Love hearing feedback on the video. Was it the garden Halloween 👻 haha 😜
Laying against the wall. One hand in pocket , other hand with phone...bloody lazy looking , half awake fcuking sleeping beauty
TOP electrician Nice work
Cheers Ian!
That is going to be one beautiful kitchen when it done👍👍
Going to look ace when it’s done, stay tuned for 2nd fix
I thought r1+r2 is not required on an eicr, rather should do live test to get proper realistic Zs no ?
Zs is just r1+r2 and your ze. So doing either is fine. But some would say not removing the circuits cpc from the met, doesn’t prove partallel paths. What you think?
Great vid James. Does the tesla charger not have a CT device like other chargers & how do you connect it to the internet? Cheers
Heya it’s got a Tesla app where you connect the charger through wifi
No ct’s, just set load
Good job... 👍...... Good video👍
Cheers! Great job 👏
👍👍
Cheers billy!
Brilliant video! ❤
Any SPD ?
Was on the small db ❤️
Cool 😎
@@dsmale7067 was a nice job this, I always quote remote from pictures, never go out to jobs to quote. This was clutch, ordered 10m and it only just reached with 2 inch spare 😂
Doesn't the charge point need to be on its own dedicated rcd, not shared with other circuits?
@ nope, just a double pole RCD and type A RCD 👌 SPD is even up to the customer but they have to opt out
The electrical knowledge that this man possesses is almost frightening. Learning a lot from you, keep up the class work and videos as always😁👌🏻
Cheers young Bobby! Couldn’t believe the whole school had been wired wrong, bet they charged a fortune aswell!
I've learnt a lot and I'm not even an electrican
Excellent job 🎉
Thank you 🙏
Must be satisfying to correct someone’s work
Satisfying getting paid to fix loads of issues and they use us in the future!
Another brilliant video mate👌🏻inspiring me to push through this studying after work even though i’m always tired af😂keep up the ace work mate, top job & video as always!
Get it done! Sacrifice the now for your future self. Seeking short term pleasure screws up the future self. It will be worth it in the end young Bobby 😁 so you doing a night school then whilst being an apprentice?
@ i’m doing a full time course whilst i work in the steel industry😭it’s difficult but i’m slowly getting there! I’m hoping to get an electricians mate role just so i can learn the practical side of things whilst i continue the theory of it all😁thanks for the wise words though, it helps me out a lot!😄
@@YoungBobby98 Good man, hats off to you, you will get there.
Can you please tell me the wire and box name you have used . Which wire we can use for outside light
Heya! Yes so any outside us protected 1mm or 1.5mm cable is fine for outside. The box is called a wiska box. 😁
@ twin and earth cable is 1.5 but its not good for outside which one is good for weather protection
Don’t use twin, most ho7 cable is up protected but need to check with manufacture
Awesome video, very informative, just what I needed. Love the style and edit great work overall. 👍🙏🏾
Thank you! 🤩
👍👍
Thank you Billy! You don’t know any electricians in York do you wanting a job? Or one man bands wanting to be employed, sick of getting in work for themselves
@ hi James, Thank you for the message. All the lads I know are either off the tools or have left the trade. We’re all of the age now whereby manual work is not really for us! Sorry not to be of help.
@billybulmer7386 might be some use, I might try find retired electricians to do a call answering service, so they answer on behalf of the company and answer any technical questions. The pass the info onto the office. Easy money 💰
Nice work
Thank you! 🙏
Daaaam, I'm glad I'm not the only one that's seen this same thing on 240v.
Shocking ain’t it! Daily this is
@finneyelectrical I mostly work with DC and even see the same on that.
@adamskiharvey3684 shocking ain’t it 😂 must be loads of fires caused by bad workmanship
I like your glasses mate where did you get them?
I mean.... Haven't you heard of wirenuts? (yes I am being sarcastic)
Bad ain’t it haha 😜
What size SWA did you use pal?
6mm 3c
What size/type of gland did you need for the 6mm 3c SWA? The cutouts for the cable entry look huge on the Tesla box (25-28mm) - was a regular IP rated gland okay as you’re not earthing the wire armour in this? All the regular 6mm 3core glands for armoured cable seem to be 20mm?
Heya will! So you use a 25mm gland off the top of my head, you need the armouring for the mechanical protection but you don’t want to export the earth to the charger as you want the pen faults switched earth. So you use a plastic gland to provide electrical separation. And you earth the armoured braiding using the supplies earth
@@finneyelectrical Thanks for the detail 😎 I wasn’t sure if the armour in the cable needed earthing at each end (to the PEN fault’s switched earth) but as the glands I have for the 6mm 3core SWA are only 20mm I think it would be difficult to fit in this unit anyway (if I use an adaptor to take these up to 25mm then it probably wouldn’t be possible to get a earth nut on the inside metal thread anyway!) I think a 25mm plastic IP rated gland would probably be easiest - and earth the armour to the supply earth, then earth the earth core in the cable to the PEN switched earth?
You’ve got it! That’s the way you’re supposed to do it. Is it just garo you for for pen fault?
What an intro, different from plumbers for a change💀😂
Totally they can be right cretins. Normally put up with half the box filled, but not this!
Bill the customer , telling them they'll need to be reimbursed by the plasterers for your extra time and materials. Absolute fkin joke doing that to another man's work .
Yeah I will be doing! Total joke all the extra work. Made a right mess!
Builders did this to me on a full house rewire in the kitchen, not only filled every box but also cut my wires short
Bad ain’t it! I’ll be billing the customer to bill the plasterer. They cut some cables short and pushed all the down lights above the insulation. Wouldn’t mind but never even met them! Think they didn’t like the client
Out of interest why didn’t you install an SPD?
Section 443 states that surge protection should be installed where over voltage could result in serious injury or loss of life, so as the zappi uses PEN fault protection over voltage could cause degradation of the PEN fault protection device and cause it not to operate under loss of PEN conditions, therefore I believe surge protection is required.
Just have to offer it
You have to install SPD unless they opt out. It isn’t a requirement. Realistically, if there ever was multiple surges, the SPD will blow and be useless for the next surge as no one checks them. So I get why they aren’t set in stone like RCD protection. Nice point raised though
@@finneyelectrical your wrong, you can only omit the need of an SPD if a risk assessment is carried out where transient over voltage is unlikely or the cost of fitting such a device out ways the damage caused to equipment connected.
Pen fault protection isn’t used for over voltage, it’s used for a loss of the neutral conductor so in this instance the metal work would become live in a TNCS installation. Some manufacturers state an SPD must be fitted. So to comply with installation practices for the charger your fitting the customer not wanting it doesn’t cut the mustard 🤠👍
Why wouldn't you use a 10mm T&E in that trunking with a cat5 to a junction box and then the swa?
Just a tidier job with ev ultra 👌 would have a joint box on the outside, also where it goes up the wall to db, that would look crap in a twin and earth with a data stuck to the side of it. Could have put some white trunking there but would have to be super wide due to the flat 90 bending radius
