  • We will be diving into the Pangasinan language -a beautiful Austronesian language spoken mainly in Pangasinan province and surrounding areas in the Philippines. As part of the Malayo-Polynesian family, Pangasinan is closely connected to languages like Ilocano, Kapampangan, and Tagalog. Despite the influence of more dominant languages like Tagalog and English, Pangasinan remains an important part of the cultural identity of the Pangasinense people. It’s not just a means of communication but also a vessel for traditional songs, poetry, and storytelling.
For context, Filipino is the Philippines' national language and an evolved, standardized version of Tagalog. It borrows elements from other native languages and foreign influences like Spanish, English, and Chinese. This rich mix reflects the country's history and diversity. Filipino plays a key role in government, education, and media, promoting unity while still embracing our local languages.
The goal of this video is to shine a light on linguistic diversity, raise awareness, and help preserve endangered or underrepresented languages like Pangasinan. By documenting and sharing knowledge, we can help keep these languages and their rich cultural heritage alive for future generations.
