    I am so thankful for your video. I am an old widow who wanted to fulfill a childhood dream of having a canopy bed. Thank you so much for posting this. I wanted an inexpensive canopy but kept reading concerning reviews on the sturdiness of the lower-end canopy bed frames. With plastic PVC pipes, you don't have to worry about safety if anything falls down and it is easy to disasemble or throw out if you change your mind or have to move. This was a great idea, thanks for sharing! I can't wait to build my own canopy setup.

    I love you!!!! Thank you! My daughter has a beautiful full size bed, and I wanted to add a canopy to her bed to make it more magical. This frame is saving me from having to buy a whole new bed frame since hers is already so beautiful and "her."
    I found 9 ft panels of fairy lights on Amazon, so In am going to paint the tubing white and add glitter, hang the lights and a lot more sheers. I can't wait to get this started! You are a genius!

    When painting pipes, it's actually easier to buy paint in a can and a few pairs of those cheap jersey gloves and stick your hands in the paint and run your hands up abs and down the pipes. It's much faster and the paint is much more consistent without runs! Painting small round pipes with a can of spray paint can be a pain in the butt! 😁😁😥

    If you add a 4 way tee to the head and foot then attache another pipe about 6 inches below the top pipes on all four sides it would have strengthened the entire canopy and made it free standing and easy to move. Plus the double pipe around the entire top would have looked really elegant. Many of the expensive iron canopies have double pipe at the tops for aesthetics.

    $27.00 pvc material vs over $100 even $200 for just the frame from those companies, that's a lot of savings but also you can even spend a little more and you can use metal or aluminium pipe,there are a lot of options in this days! just check the hardware stores! i can't wait to receive my canopy to start my proyect! but it was a good, fun and informative video to watch that's for sure.

    Hilarious. I did the same EXACT thing years back when money was scarce, but tastes were expensive. Lol. I guess I shouldn't say the "exact" same thing, because mine wobbled A LOT. It may be because I had a queen-sized bed, which automatically added inches to the horizontal pipes and because I had tile on the floor. Based on that, if I could offer one suggestion, it would be to weigh down the bottom of the vertical pipes with sand, tiny pebbles, etc. (pretty much anything you can think of). While it may bring the cost up, depending on what you settle for, it'll save the headache of the thing just moving around all the time. Additionally, depending on what and how much material you are going to hang, use joiners (not sure if correct terminology). Even though you don't have joints, when slipped on to the ends and middle of the horizontal pipes, they can add some support. Great job by the way, and wow, did this bring back memories!

    • @alyssacronin2196
      @alyssacronin2196 5 лет назад

      I would just measure it closer to the bed and pick an ornate choice of ribbon or tie to lash it to the bed frame. That way there is no moving.

    • @MimiDidi121

      I'm about to do the exact same thing except I am going to use 2in pipe for the vertical and a cap on top and glue a 90° elbow on top so I can use 1in pvc pipe on top. Im going to use dye to dye a canvas drop cloth brown and then spray paint it brown. I'm also going to paint the PVC pipe Brown , like I mentioned in my above comment using regular paint and a cotton glove to spread the paint on instead of spray painting, spray painting something around is really a pain . I'm going to add grommets and lash it to the top to make a cool canopy for my deck! There is no roof out there or shade. I can't afford to have a roof built, and I can't hang an awning or anything by myself. I'm 55 and not real Handy. I'm handy enough to build a PVC pergola though or canopy however you want to put it LOL. I'm going to use these to attach the canvas Kotap BB-6B Ball Bungee, 6-Inch, Black, 25-Piece www.amazon.com/dp/B00DPLM5YU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Yat-AbXQ14GR4 they make them in white also if a person wanted a lighter color. I wanted darker to stay cooler and wanted to dye and spray paint to hopefully get more consistency in color and get some shedding of water. I may look to see if there's a product that will cause the canvas to shed the water! Perhaps even in the hunting and fishing department. A lot of times they have stuff that Hunters can spray on to their canvas jackets and heavy canvas hunting clothes to cause them to shed water. I noticed that the tutorials have them pouring Quikrete down the legs of these canopies to hold them down and make them heavy. To me that seems like so much trouble. I don't understand why they don't use water or pea gravel or sand. I would think the Quikrete would just be getting stuck to the sides and such an exercise in frustration trying to get it to the bottom! I'm sure that was a man's idea LOL since I'm just going to have mine up for the summer and probably have to take it down for the summer, I'm trying to think of a way to make it easy to partially disassymble and stick it straight in the attic. I don't use my attic because I had insulation blown in a few years ago. This would be something I could lay the canvas tarp down on the insulation and the pipes on that! It's so light it wouldn't harm the insulation and it could act as it's own tarp to lie it on!

    Great idea. Looks flimsy though. This one would definitely only be able to support super sheer drapes like shown. Anything heavier would collapse this one. I'd probably use thicker pvc pipe. And I would try to find or make a flared flat bottomed base for the bottom of the support poles for stability.
