You can play it casual by taking the opposite way : discarding cheap evasive creatures. The many 1/1 unblockable for 1 become 4/4 unblockable for 3, they are now very threatening early game. Dimir infiltrator becomes very nice in here Also keep in mind that these tokens are zombies that can be buffed with the numerous anthems for this type
There are several reanimation creatures that you can run in the deck which also work well with clone effects too. When it gets to the late game you can have some crazy turns that reestablishes the board. Discard something like a Bloodline Necromancer, get the token and the token gets back the original. Then you can get Young Necromancer, Phyrexian Delver, Karmic Guide, Sister Hospitaller, Metamorphosis Fanatic, Clone, Phantasmal Image, Glasspool Mimic, Clever Impersonator, Void Winnower. (All clones making copies of Sister Hospitaller for the most life gain) If you have the last reanimation effect bring out Reya Dawnbringer or Sheoldred, Whispering One then you can do this every turn if you sacrifice off the rest. If you have a sac outlet then you can loop 3 different ones of the reanimations. There are a ton of effects that can return a creature from grave to hand and the token copy can keep returning the original to hand so you always have a creature to discard. Cadaver Imp, Corpse Cur, Entomber Exarc, Graveshifter, Neva, Restoration Gearsmith, Vampire Soulcaller, Warren Pilferers, Sibsig Muckdraggers. Corpse Cur being the interesting one since you can keep getting a 4/4 Infect. Skirge Familiar is a very nice way to generate mana and have free discards. Recruiter of the Guard is great in this sort of setup because it finds almost all of the reanimators, clones, self recurring cards, and discard creatures.
I just got done putting together a Mirko cedh version based on reanimating key pieces for value: Mainly clones but you basically also use grave tutors or discard outlets to plant in Thassa's Oracle, Divining Witch (So that's a win already), Spellseeker (If you need tainted pact or demonic consultation) or Snapcaster mage (You basically get another go if a first win attempt gets countered, which is also useful as bait) This new commander is basically a strict update: I do get access to useful white staples like Abolisher and Silence not to mention engines like Smothering or the new trouble in pairs, but the fact that any discard outlet with this commander makes it act like Bourne upon on top is just great: discard two, pitch Spellseeker (which grabs Demonic Consult) and Thassa and just win on the stack.
I am very interested in this for CEDH. It has some awesome legs with the more midrange control the current meta is, and is able to do some super off the wall stuff to win over someone.
lol not CEDH. Fringe at best. 5 mana just to use his ability and a way to discard which costs more mana. This unfortunately pigeons you into a discard style deck and running a lot of creatures to get any type of value and its not even in breach color. Esper is good, but the best esper creatures are 3 mana or less so youre literally paying more to get a creature effect. This is unfortunately one of those cards that is probably too tuned to make a casual deck out of, but too weak to be in CEDH, kind of like Storm theres no way to make her casual but falls short of CEDH viable.
@@STIPanda I disagree with this. The format has taken a big shift towards midrange and it has the blue in it to survive the first 3 turns. We've even seen Disa decks doing well recently. Disa basically wins from the meta not being able to stop what it's doing being so creature focused. Disa mainly suffers from if it ends up in a pod with a turbo deck and no blue opponents to stop it. Disa does best in a pod with 3 blue decks. That being said, I think this deck kinda sits somewhere between Kinnan and Disa. Graveyard hate doesn't completely turn it off since you still get to make the 4/4. It's a trigger so creatures not being able to activate abilities doesn't hurt it. You have access to all of the white silence effects. You already get to run the typical dimir stuff which isn't dependant on the commander. Then your commander just gets to grind out value in a Tivit style control. Yeah, everyone hated on Tivit (pre bans) saying it wasn't good until it ended up just being an absolute workhorse in the format. Getting down a 3 mana Hullbreaker ain't nothing. The same is true for Hoarding Broodlord, Valgavoth, Jin-Gitaxias, Nezahal, Void Winnower, Consecrated Sphinx. Many of these are cards that we've stopped considering for CEDH because they usually don't work but then a deck shows up that cheats them and we get reminded of just how good they are. Turbo has become a smaller and smaller part of CEDH and there's a portion of the community that disregards new decks that aren't turbo. I understand because non turbo decks are a lot harder to judge. That's why a lot of these midrange decks start off as sleepers even against the discerning eyes of regular tournament grinders. Now you may end up being right in the long run but I do think that you're off on the evaluation of it's mana cost and the creature density. Reminder, Inalla works off of Wizards but the deck only runs like 4-6 wizards.
I think it would be interesting to see a casual list for this as It's easy to find win conditions in cEDH. I find it quite difficult to find win conditions in casual and I believe that hashaton enables many with cards like tortured existence + peregrine drake and I would like to see your take on it!
Imagine making token copies of Serra's Emissary to get increasingly protected, or using Tortured Existence to cycle between making token copies of Peregrine Drake, Palinchron, or Great Whale to generate infinite mana and 4/4 bodies.
Definitely looking forward to seeing the deck tech you come up with. Would also love to see a {Kudo, King Among Bears} deck tech. Keep up the great work. 😁
@decktechsfordecks 😅 Hey, I'm the noob of my play group. They've got years of experience and crazy decks of their own. The first decks I played against were poison counters and nothing but flyers. (Can't remember what the third one was.) Meanwhile, I only had the pre-con Bello deck. That being said, we're all a group of good friends, and I took it on the chin. I wanted to be thrown into the deep end.
I freaking love this card, I have a reanimator Rona deck which I'm going to rebuild using this guy instead, already have basically every card you mentioned in it, can't wait!
Also have a reanimator Rona. I don't think this is as strong as that...which is a good thing. 2 mana loot effect in the command zone is just too good for a reanimator strat. Hashaton is a lot more resilient in that it doesn't get completely hosed by graveyard hate since you still get the discard trigger. You also have the option of running cards like Cadaver Imp and discarding to hand size over and over to get a bunch of 4/4. Maybe you're playing against someone that has the table under a Knowledge Pool lock. Cool, you just get to max hand size and start spamming out a bunch of 4/4 every turn. You don't need to cast spells!
I don't really seeing the combos themselves being very commander based (cards like Cadaver Imp do generate nice advantage). I see the commander as more of an enabler that make existing combos easier to pull off. There are definitely some commander dependant tricks that can be pulled off though.
I'm working on a list that I think is pretty solid. "Creature Discount Sale" on moxfield. It's going to change a lot in the coming weeks I'm sure. Heck, while sitting in these comments I realized that Nezahal is probably just better than ConSphnix in this deck.
I might be missing something, but can you help explain the Technomancer loop? How are you constantly returning the Technomancer to your hand? If you're using Tortured Existence to cycle it, than you can't be discarding to a free discard outlet because you would run out of creatures in hand to keep the loop going. If you are using the Tortured Existence loop it would be 5 total mana: B to discard techno picking up any other creature, 2U for ability, and then B to discard a creature in your hand and pick up the Technomancer again? This is why the Peregrine Drake loop (untap 5 lands) makes infinite 4/4tokens but not infinite mana unless you have a land that makes two mana. If I'm missing something please let me know how to make the Technomancer work, I'm brewing this deck and would love to add the Technomancer loop if it works.
In the cedh landscape , i think this is a commander that all out replaces tymna/malcolm. Not tivit. Not MoK. He can slot in the 99 of raffine and Marneus but these two dont sbow up in numbers. Instant thassas oracle is massive
This new set looks interesting I guess. A lot of people are disliking it because it seems too different from "traditional Magic". And while I do agree with that viewpoint, I also kind of like the motorcycle theme. It's not THAT unrealistic for the world either. We have high tech vehicles and flying machines, why is a tron style motorcycle that bad?
I think this video serves as an initial deck tech. With a bunch of new cards about to be released you might as well wait to see what other cool new stuff you could include.
This thing is so busted. No restriction, no exile, they even give you a 4/4. I love it but should’ve have honestly had any other restrictions put on it. Im guessing they thought esper can’t ramp.
I would Love to see a more casual strong list than cedh list. Also i would like to wait until all cards are revealed so we get the best Version of the Deck. Thank for the cool Video.
I still think this thing would be better in the 99 of Temmet, Naktamun's Will or Varina, simply because cycling creatures still needs an additional 3 mana paid and he doesn't have a built in outlet like Temmet or Varina does. I personally am stuck on which of those 2 to build! The new Temmet interests me more because he's basically an overrun in the command zone as well as an enabler, but i understand Varina is BETTER because she lets you go through multiple cards at once. I am super torn, but either way Esper Zombies is looking VERY strong going forward!
I made the grave mistake of showing this commander to my friend who has an absolutely cracked jank Scarab God deck, and all I can say, is I regret my decision! That deck did NOT need white 😂 The one that personally caught my eye is Mendicant Core, aggro artifact seems quite intriguing ngl
Mox Amber, The One Ring, Orcish Bowmasters, Valgavoth, Hullbreaker Horror, Toxrill, Consecrated Sphinx, Force of Will, etc. I can't put my finger on it but....SOMETHING tells me this deck would be broken even without the commander. Why not throw in some Lion's Eye Diamond combos?^^
@@decktechsfordecks I could certainly see it in CEDH. Great colors, easy access to cheap interactions and lots of combos, etc. It's ability also goes nuts with creatures such as Peregrine Drake and Great Whale.

We can make that happen 💪

@@cezfzcraebte1621 White also has a selection of double strike creatures that you can load into the deck.
A casual list would be terrific. Most of the deck lists and content I’ve seen are cEDH focused, and my group doesn’t play anywhere close to that
I think that a casual budget deck once the set comes out would be very cool, this commander seems very strong even on a cheap budget
I agree thank you for the feedback!
I concure, Casual Budget sounds Great :D
Would love to see a deck tech ASAP. I would love to see a first draft and maybe an update later. So excited to brew

A high mid to low powerful casual decklist would be appreciated. Looking at building this commander but want to stay away from CEDH level
We will definitely start there 😁
This is exactly my Sefris deck. Now I can switch commanders here and there.
That’s a good idea!
Was thinking the same thing about my own sefris! Would just have to swap my already small “dungeon package” and it’s basically the same deck
Any thoughts about the new Saheeli?
