I felt that big, warm hug, Amy Beth. It would be wonderful to see you more often, to help us stumble over the rocky road ahead. I hope you feel the love that this community you've built is sending you. PS Love those quilt squares. If I was a quilter, that would be my jam.
I think this is the first time I’ve smiled and laughed all week. Thank you for the hug and just sent you one back.❤ Off to have a dance party with my bearded dragon and dog. 💃🐉🐶
Those quilt blocks are beautiful. I love them! Thank you for the hug - sending one right back! It's really good to enjoy a hug from thousands of miles away. And I love the conversation - the day is always better when I've listened to your shenanigans.
I feel same, bought Worcestshire sauce for our autumn/winter Chex mix making - crazy price, $8 at our local, walk to it grocery store (not my Trader Joe's or Co-op favs). Hugs back to you and all of those here. Also, burning candles trying to find peace (because I cannot forgive) with those who are FULL of hate and misogyny and voted for facism. Holding hands and marching against the facists with you and your lovelies.
Yes, I’m struggling to be forgiving in this moment too. I’m hoping to forgive at some point because it would be healthier for me, but I’m not ready yet. Also, thank you for mentioning the Chex Mix. I think Chex Mix could be really helpful in this moment. It’s funny, but earlier this week my husband told me that he had heard someone had gotten out Christmas decorations as her way of coping. So I wondered if I should start making some of our usual Christmas treats early to cheer us up. Chex Mix is the perfect one to start with!! ❤
@@karmakauffman7445 100% I made Chex mix on Wednesday. Today I put up our Christmas tree - it's pre-lit with what lights we want, but I exclusively use the clear lights. No decorations, just the lights. I'm sitting by the tree with my peppermint tea, knitting on a Jennifer Steingass sweater (two at a time on the sleeves, I want this done!) and enjoying cozy knitting vlogs. I searched for vlogmas' I hadn't watched yet - and am only watching ones I've heard my selective group has approved :)
Friend, I’m here for the conversation!! I love the conversation and the shenanigans!! I am so grateful for every episode you post. I’ve rewatched old episodes all this week just to make it through. Thank you for every moment. Give yourself grace and know so many of us appreciate every minute. Barn chaining with you all!
Food prices are going insain in the UK too. We have so many people relying on Food Banks to feed their families, so I would love to thank everyone that donates food the the food banks. You are making sure your neighbours get to eat. Thanks for the hugs. They are needed.
You are hysterical. A-1 pricing cracks me up. I crochet, but love seeing all your projects. I love your bags. They are so well made and beautiful. Your latest blocks are perfect and soothing.
Thank you for the hug. We will all need to offer and receive more hugs in the coming years. I am fully ready to convert USD to US A-1 pricing. Sending love.
Sending hugs back as well as sending hugs to anyone else who needs them. This is the only way we’re going to get through this y’all. Time to circle the wagons and hang on to each other. Amy Beth, I would love to hear from you more often, particularly in the coming months (years?) as we struggle to deal with what’s coming. Curling up with a cup of tea and chatting about crafting, gardening, food, games, and other fun things sounds pretty darn comforting right now. Sending out love and light to all of us. So glad we’re on this journey together! ❤
Northern Alberta Canada here. A1 here is 7.79 for 100 g. Translated to US 5.59 for 3.5 oz. Thank you for the hug. I send you a bear hug back. That’s a big squishy, squeezy one. 🐻💕 I don’t suffer the same as you but that was a very big 😱 you had this past week. Yikes! Ginkgo trees don’t grow here. 😕 All of my leaves have fallen, although they were spectacular and I thoroughly enjoyed that. 🍂🍁🍂 It’s a cool -1 Celsius, 30.2 Fahrenheit. Sweater weather. ❤️ Was sunny, going grey for now. All good. 😊 Peace to you, Amy Beth. ❤️
Here’s my hug right back at you, Amy Beth. Thanks for the cross stitch idea - “Don’t get sloppy, ‘cause ya got to go home.” 😂 Let us know if the star quilt basting works. My mamaw quilted one using buttons instead of knotting.
Ohhhhh AmyBeth thank you for having us and the hug. Thank you for the tips. I love to dance and playing my flute helps with breath work too. I’ve been knitting a baby blanket while getting lost in WitchLit and Im teaching myself to make tea lights. Im creating my own reality going forward and just going to create in general - I saw earlier that Joy is not the opposite of depression - expression is. Im going to try to lean into that right now. I am so grateful for you and the comfort that you bring to me and well - all of us. ❤
Many hugs to you! I love seeing you throw the toy for your dog while you are talking to us without breaking stride! Been there, done that. You are inspiring me to finish the Grandma's Flower Garden quilt I started many years ago. Thanks!
Our hug was lovely ❤ :) Thank you for suggesting the barn chain, I'm super glad to be a link in it! I'm appreciating your lovely chartruese hoodie - such an excellent colour. I will be employing at least 2 of your coping strategies! Fancy tea, pet strokies, sitting under blankets and a bit of tarot, and, well, knitting are mine. I like the idea of wingspan but when I play games they take over my life and I can't quite cope with that! Excited to see your lovely homespun quilt, it's looking so, so cosy! The leaves are very beautiful this year. It was lovely to catch up, sending another hug❤ 🫂❤
Thank you for the hug - I needed it! FYI, my husband and I love A1, and we have found that if you mix ketchup and Worcestershire sauce, it tastes just like A1. I am so happy to see you today.
Yes, I want to be in the woodland world where all the animals are cute and will not try to kill me, even the bears. All things that are very soulful and nourishing are needed right now. Also, a couple of weeks ago I canned some apple butter, and watched your tutorial again. I just find your voice and personality very soothing and uplifting. Thanks for the hugs and apple wisdom. 😎
Thanks for the hug, and thanks for the barn chain. I do forget to dance. I love to ride my bike if the weather cooperates. Music helps me. I listen to jazz. The improvisation keeps my attention, and I think of the great music that was made despite the challenges many jazz artists faced. I play piano a little, so playing one of the songs I know by heart helps. I sing in a choir, so learning the songs is a good distraction. Big hug to you! ❤
I spent two days in bed listening to "The Fellowship of Bakers and Magic", thanks for the recommendation, to keep my sinking into the pit of despair. It is funny I thought today I could use an Amy Beth vlog and your channel popped up in my youtube feed.
thank you for the much needed hug -- sending one your way!!! I love the quilt squares and can't wait to see it all finished. Your Nexxus colors are perfect -- very much suits my monochromatic heart. A1 -- yikes! See you next week!
Sending HUGS back at ya! I needed a hug. Dance party while wearing the hat you made…now that would make anyone feel better. Your episodes…priceless and not convertible into A1 dollars!
I hope that turkey club was delicious! Thank you for the hug and acknowledgement that this was a tough week for many of us. I loved the A1 theme throughout the video, very clever.
Thanks for the hug. Back at you. I enjoyed our time together. That helps me! I also like a good Murder Mystery, like The Marlow Murder Club. Hugging my Golden Retriever and having Matcha also makes me feel better. Talking with my friends and knitting helps too. I look forward to seeing you soon. Take care!
Thank you for the hug and yet again a marvellous episode. My husband completely enjoyed the updates of cost comparisons with bottles of A1 sauce (btw he is a complete birding nerd😁). Your star blocks have me drooling. I love the idea of ties with the stars. Looking forward to seeing what works for you in episodes . We are ending a road trip across Canada and venturing into a house purchase. Let chaos ensue!
I love the equation A1= the thing we want! I don’t know if all long arm quilters will do this…but, you can ask to have a quilt basted for hand quilting. Many bottles of A1 = machine basted quilt. It’s the best!
Hot hard cider with a side of apple cider cake, yes please and THANK YOU... but hold aside the A1 sauce, LOL! Yes to flipping thru mags for inspo & WIngspan (board version over here). Isnt' the Coral & Tusk book gorgeous?! Love your Barn Owl. Nexxus looking good too. Unfortunately, there will be no gingko rain admiration here, but we finally got REAL rain, so that is thrilling as we didn't have any for over 100 days this season. I'm anticipating showers of yellow cedar elm leaves to start dropping from their trees here this weekend. Sending hugs in solidarity your way. 🍂🍂🍂
So my coping mechanism is that the algorithm suggested reruns of Kids Incorporated to me this week. It’s a kids show from the 80’s that I had forgotten about but as soon as I saw it memories came flooding back. I knew all the words to the theme song, I remember all of the early episodes and going down a “where are they now” rabbit hole, I realized that Stacey is Fergie and Gloria is Martika who sang Toy Soldiers! 🤯 anyway 80’s musics and the kids basically do two main dance moves: the pony step and grapevine, so if you want to go down nostalgia lane and rock out to 80’s music, I highly recommend.
I got the giggles every time you showed the A1 cost of something. Hilarious! My husband loves to use A1 when he grills. I’ll catch him putting more than half of a large bottle of A1 into a cup so that he can easily use a brush to dip into the cup and brush the sauce on the meat. When he’s finished cooking, there will still be like .3 A1 dollars in the cup. This has to be thrown away, of course, because of using the brush on the raw meat. So now, when he’s gonna grill, I try to “help” him by putting some A1 in a cup. I might give him .25 A1 dollars worth.
I liked the hug too and loved the prices in bottles too cute....yes it has been rough I tend to move furniture when things happen I can't control cause I can control my little surroundings so I moved the rug loom to the other end of the living room it goes like this a first few tugs nothing happens then tug push pull many many times for ten minutes moved one inch it had to go fifteen feet do the math lets just say it will live at that end for eternity I need to find a better thing than moving furniture I am getting to old the other thing is making Christmas gifts keeps me not thinking plus now watching the news for a time I liked your suggestions.
TGIF. It's so nice to see your smiling face! Thank you for the hug, and the cider sounds lovely, but I'll have to settle for fresh ginger turmeric tea. I'm sitting here with my emotional support chicken with me as well. I didn't know "ginkgo raining" was a thing, we have a road lined with them and yes, I did get to see their magic. :)
I knit a hat for my granddaughter every Christmas. Recent purge and clean of my craft room disclosed that I have 14 large Rubbermaid tubs of yarn. She picked her hat pattern and sent me the link.. This will come as no surprise to a knitter but the yarn required for the hat is not a yarn I have in my huge stash. I seldom knit with bulky yarn. WEBS had a discount on the yarn that is compatible with the pattern so I now have additional yarn when my goal was to stash down. Added to that, in order to get the discount I had to order 2 more skeins of bulky yarn than I needed. Is any of this ringing a bell? Life goes on and I'm craving yet another visit to our local apple orchard/gift shop/wine tasting place. That gives me all the good feels. Sadly, the cider slushes are done for the season. Buying cider and going to try and make my own. They are totally addictive. I highly recommend. Loved your podcast.
Excuse me, perhaps I missed something, but one do not want to bind before quilting-the too, batt & back can stretch a bit outward as one quilts which would cause puckers next to binding. And, of course one can QAYG for any quilt. Great work, btw
I'm returning that hug and offering some emergency self care for those who may need it, the 7/11 breathing technique which is really simple - breathe in while counting to 7 or another number that is comfortable for you and breathe out slowly for a longer count than you breathed in. That is the kind of breathing you do automatically when you are relaxed and doing it a few times can convince your brain and body to let go of some tension. It can really help when you're feeling stressed and overwhelmed if you take a couple of minutes to sit quietly and breathe this way. Loving thoughts from Canada to all my friends in the US of A who are really feeling the change in the political weather this week.

I needed that hug too, and sending hugs back. I’m falling down the cross stitch rabbit hole but I’m not sure how to get started. I noticed you did not have a hoop, do you stitch the linen free hand?
@@cathyhodge2799 there are several different brands, and I didn’t get the brand of my friend’s. Quilt Tak seems to be the proprietary brand? But you can find them under quilt basting gun or micro tak.
Sure you could just use the “tags” to hold your quilt together but NO using the quilt. The main reason for quilting it is to give extra needed support for the piercing. The “rule” is the more use of the quilt the closer the quilting should be. Looks beautiful and I can’t wait to see what you do with it. Thank you for sharing 😊
An alternative would be to tie it and then do the same. I think I want more quilting than just the ties as the mill batting will need tighter quilting than a commercial one.
You just created a bright spot this week. Thank you for giving us the gift of a smile, hug- even a giggle. In A1 dollars- priceless.❤️

@@cathyhodge2799 there are several different brands, and I didn’t get the brand of my friend’s. Quilt Tak seems to be the proprietary brand? But you can find them under quilt basting gun or micro tak.
@ thank you!!!
Sure you could just use the “tags” to hold your quilt together but
NO using the quilt.
The main reason for quilting it is to give extra needed support for the piercing.
The “rule” is the more use of the quilt the closer the quilting should be.
Looks beautiful and I can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Thank you for sharing 😊
@ I mean yes, the tags would not be permanent, but my thought was to have the quilt bound so that I could hand quilt on it while it’s in light use.
An alternative would be to tie it and then do the same. I think I want more quilting than just the ties as the mill batting will need tighter quilting than a commercial one.
