Johnny A is indeed one of a small group of guitarists alive today who can inarguably be considered a Grandmaster Musician. His playing is a unique amalgamation of styles, paying respectful tribute to other trailblazers, while also retaining his own clear musical identity. His tone and playing are not only tasteful, but but daring because when you play with that much clarity and articulation, there is nothing to hide behind. Itis not by luck that he has nothing to hide, buy rather countless hours of dedication to honing his craft, working out any flaws in his technique so that his execution is impeccable. The most amazing part is that he manages to keep things sounding fresh, even playing licks that when played by others might sound cliché. He is truly a treasure, every bit the term "a musician's musician" describes, while still having a sound that is accessible and enjoyable to non-musician ears as well. Hats off to Johnny A.
First saw Johnny A when he supported Joe Satriani at Glasgow Royal Concert hall. Joe was good but my overriding memory was Johnny's playing. Got into his music after that. Super guitar player with lovely expression. Love this live looping set. Thanks for showing this.
Love this guy! I'm a guitarist that thought he was well informed but just learned about Johnny A this year and I think he is an amazingly skilled and tasteful guitarist. I hope to see him someday soon but it doesn't appear he performs out much any more. May Johnny live as long and healthful as his mom and his aunt!!
This is just fantastic… and that Beatles pastiche was totally brilliant, especially the psychedelic bits. Johnny, you don’t HAVE to sing - you’re killin’ it! And thanks to The Fallout Shelter for posting this - kudos!
I think it's been partly a tribute to Jeff Beck! He played with the Yardbirds using LP juniors so he switched it up I think! He sounds great I love the dynamics in his tone

He'll be back at The Fallout Shelter in November with the trio! Check our website for tix, we expect it to sell out well in advance.
I have seen him 3 times. He is awesome with his trio. I would go again in a heartbeat.

I don't care, they all go back to the strat
When did he switch to Fender
He appears to prefer them these last few years, but I think he switches ever so often.
I knew who Little Willie John was. Didn’t know he was done for murder!
It's the Johnny A Custom Shop Signature Strat. About $5500
