Been looking for a reaction from someone who hasn’t seen the original! Not sure why yours didn’t show up on my original search. Absolutely yes watch the original. This adaptation is overall good in my opinion, lots done really well and what they “added” is SUPER good the things that they “changed” is controversial and is up for debate on the good or bad. In all I’d say they did A LOT really well visually, and most of the writing is passable. It’s biggest downfall I’d say is the clunky dialogue that drags a lot of the actors performances into very hard situations where they can’t do much in terms of showing what they’re capable of. On the other hand there are quite a few scenes that are done and written REALLY well and the talents of the actors really shows. In the end for what it’s worth I am excited for season 2 & 3 (which have been approved) in hopes of the writers seeing the criticisms and making the right tweaks on what fell short, and expanding on what they DID do REALLY WELL.

The cabbage guy was a running joke in the original show that would show up throughout the show at random where his cabbages would just continue getting destroyed and he’d do his shpeel. Not much more to it, keep in mind though the original was ahead of its time and granted VERY deep thematically for a kids show, it still was a KIDS show at heart
