    So cute to watch mama and her baby with older child that is being weaned. Mama allowing her to suckle just a little bit but definitely getting her ready to stop and to eat solid food from here on. Just like a human mama.

    Such a beautiful, loving, protective mother. I love how she softly nudges the oldest away from her breast so she can start weaning off. She seems so very calm and probably one of the most beautiful mama's I've ever seen.

      She is no where near close to weaning off. This baby will still be with Mom until it is seven or eight years old. This infant will have more than a few years before mom starts to wean.

    A wonderful child, a caring and loving mother, but she often holds her head as if it hurts. I hope that mom is still in good health, and the baby is already big, older, almost mature.

    Older sibling is still getting some milk from Mom.(3:11) In the wild, a female orangutan would never have two children to take care of at the same time. This only happens in zoos.

      It’s very normal in the wild for Orangutans nurse right along side eating solid foods; as well as for it to continue between 5-7 Years

    That's disgusting, allowing an older child to breastfeed.

    • @mchevre
      @mchevre Год назад

      Dude its 100% normal for orangutans. They breastfeed for up to 7 years in the wild - almost the whole time they spend with their mother before going on their own. They aren't humans - they have their own natural ways of doing things that are perfectly normal for them. The first couple years is 100% milk, then slowly, little by little, milk is replaced by solid foods, as they teach their kids the hundreds of different fruits and other things they forage.
