There is a PT undergoing a resto in Deland,Fl. at the airport. Keeping an eye on this one!! Should be perfect for chasing boats off your fishing spot!!!
When i was a kid. My father use to take me out on party boats out of ocean city maryland in the 60's. All party boats back in those days were surplus PT boat.
LtTruck29 yes, back in the day the navy would sell a pt as a hull with no engines typically, meaning any type of engine could be adapted, as well as configurations. PTs were good for lots of things due to their size.
Its sad that hoarders hoard these boats and leave them out in the weather. its like all other items hoarded to be restored someday and the owner dies and the person cleaning up the estate will just destroy them as they will be too far gone to restore !!
I love these boats. I should locate some I can visit sometime. I'm always interested in the technical aspects of anything. For example, are the engines direct sea cooled or do they have heat exchangers?
The boat used in the TV show was a Vosper built boat, none of which served in the Pacific. The actual PT 73 was, I believe, a Higgins boat which served n the Aleutians.
morrisonreed1 there are some own by fleet obsolete in New York, but he’s charging a crazy amount of money to sell them, so no one can afford them at the moment. I guess we will see what happens
Where did you photograph or find the photograph of PT 724, 70" Vosper? We are trying to trace all the PT boats out of the Annapolis Yacht Yard. Thank you
Denise Robinson I found it on Facebook of all places, there is a PT boat group on there where I have also posted some of these. If you search PT-724 you should find them.
@@Legitcar117 Yes to it's original configuration. I believe this boat was finished just before the end of the war and the navy took delivery in Sept. 1945. A guy up here who had the boat in Kingston, New York has 4 more hulls awaiting restoration.
@@Legitcar117 As of a few years ago, last time I was through there, PT-3 was at Flanagan Bros in Fairton, NJ. At the time I saw it, the employees told me the owner wanted rid of it. I don't know if it's still there or not, but it doesn't appear to be out near the road anymore.
Loved the video.
Watched PT 109 at drive in 1960’s.
Ten times sense then.
Use the crew model for my mens group.
Everyone cross trained

My cousin Jack Hughes served on PT 309 in the Mediterranean -- boats claim to fame is it once took out an enemy train.
Man, I'd kill for one of these.
Zoes Dada same here!

Halo music is ALWAYS good!

And here I thought 617 was the last 80' Elco left.
Zach Boyd yep.
Wish there more Elcos.
LegitGaming117
Well, it is better than none.
After all, look what happened to the CVEs, not one was preserved.
Zach Boyd I agree man, Cabot survived until the early 2000s and then was scrapped.
FYI, "Finished Business" is PT-766.
Wow

joe woodchuck possibly marine cooled, I forget lol
I wonder what happened to Kennedy's PT 109?
Tom Lord at the bottom of the ocean, and under tons of silt. Although one of the torpedo tubes is still visible
The tune from McHale's Navy would have been much better. I prefer silence over Halo
Wonderful to see 80ft elcos in recent years. How about now? 2019?
Lanse Lithgow more Higgins than Elcos unfortunately
Soy la persona a la cual esta la dedicatoria en la foto de la Lancha Torpedera ARA TOWWORA.
Where is PT 617 Located ????
Battleship cove in Fall River Massachusetts
so what pt boat was/is McHales navy pt?
james overman PT-694, she washed up in a hurricane in the 80s or 90s and was destroyed.

? the ones that are siting in disrepair ,where are they ? some of us may be interested in grabbing those and bringing them back to life

@@Legitcar117 thanks
morrisonreed1 no problem!
morrisonreed1 I don’t think you realize how much it takes to “fix up” an 80’ wood boat that’s been sitting on land for 20 to 30 years or more.
@@jimmygrant3212 its hell and possibly a lot of money which is why these boats shouldn't be sitting around before its past the point of no return
How many PT Boats are still runny.
worknites still running?
Two now, and PT-728 is soon to be running again as well.

What is halo music?
WebbedToesRule Group from the game series halo
Just saw its hull # is ptf3. Easy to see on google earth
David in pcola I know some people have been trying to get PT-3 for a long time, hopefully someone can save it soon.
@@Legitcar117 Does the low hull # indicate a older model?
David in pcola pt-3 was one of the early prototype pt boats, so yes probably one of the oldest in existence
