Kalankini Radha' is an old Baul song referring to the parable of Radha and Krishna. Kalankini means ill-reputed - particularly one who is noted for illicit romances.
In the Gaudiya line of poetry , the tale goes that Radha is in love with Krishna, but is married to someone else. In this song, Radha is being advised not to go fetch water from Yamuna as that is where she is likely to meet Krishna - and her meetings with Krishna has already brought her a lot of ill-repute.,,,
And haramzada used in bangla as very light minded slang,,,,,it is used here for krishna for his behaviour with all sakhi,,,,

53:30 Writing this in English for Ashris
The song says "Borsha jokhon aito, gajir gaan hoito... " Then it says "Gajir gaan ghatu gaan anonder toophan"
So clearly, this song mentions Gajir gaan and not Gajon gaan (contrary to what Pratyush pointed out)
Now let us understand the two genres of songs Ghatu and Gazi (Gaji)
Gaji gaan : In the Faridpur, Nowakhali, Chottogram and Shylet districts of present day Bangladesh there were the Gaji songs that went popular which were sung in the praise of Gazi Pir. Gazi Pir introduced Islamic thoughts in Bengal during the 12th-13th century AD. His resting place is in present day West Bengal in a place called Ghutiary Sharif. Gaji gaan went popular in the above mentioned districts of Bangladesh. Also, interestingly, Gaji gaan was popular across all religions. These songs were popularized by the 'baedes' (snake charmer community). They used to roam around with sketches and paintings of historical events on life of Gazi Pir and would sing these songs. Later, in the above mentioned districts these songs were organized by local community, in weddings and also by the well offs. These were mainly organized in the month of Kartik and Agrahayan, which is after monsoons. Bangladesh has a quite a prolonged monsoons, by the way.
Ghatu gaan : This was popularized in the Mymensingh and
Shylet districts of present day Bangladesh. These were organized during monsoons. Now in these two districts, we get to see something called 'Haor' (হাওর). These are several acres of low lands that turns into massive water bodies during monsoons, otherwise used for farming. So, farming halts for a while during monsoons. Farmers take up fishing activities in those Haors. Well offs, stays at home in those months otherwise travelling for business. They organize Ghatu gaan where the main theme is on Radha Krishna's stories. A young boy would dress like Radha.
    Two interesting facts :
Among many other reasons, Pakistan lost to Bangladesh in 1971 because of these Haors. They were in the midst of monsoons when Mukti bahini was at its peak with support from India.
Bengali author, Humayun Ahmed has beautifully documented socio economic perspectives of Ghatu gaan in his film - Ghetu putro Komola
Btw, to understand Bengal, one must take some time out to dive into present day Bangladesh. It's incomplete without Bangladesh. Few examples, you see women education and women empowerment today in among the Bengalis. Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain was among the pioneers inspiring women to be educated, she was from present day Bangladesh. Radhabajar in Kolkata is the largest market in Asia for spectacles. Spectacles business in Kolkata was pioneered by Bengali businessmen from Comilla district of Bangladesh. The spread of Bangali as a language in the world can also be attributed to the Bangladeshis through their presence in internet, app etc. Infact I use a keyboard called ridmik keyboard which is also from Bangladesh.

If you see popular modern day face of Hinduism----
Swami Vivekananda , Ramakrishna, Chaitanya Deb , ISKON, RAMAKRISHNA MISSION, BHARAT SEBASRAM,, Brahmo sava,, Brahmva samaj,,,,in modern day who spread the msg of Sanatana to the india & world are from Bengal,,,,,
Before British,,,, Indian society was so much divided by caste system,,, so British always try to defame Hinduism that time ,,,,to fight against this how Raja Ram mohon Roy ,, Vivekananda' s philosophy made hindu United,,,,you should research on that,,,,,,
if anyone say,, Bengal do not follow Hinduism,,,,,then it will be perfect to say that he/she knows nothing about what real Hinduism is,,,,,
Geeta always says PARAMPARA is not DHARMA,,,,you should break the old PARAMPARA if it becomes harmful for society,,,,,but sadly indian( specially north) don't want to break old harmful tradition,,,,,
But in Bengal and east India many people and society broke this and started new tradition,,,,
    That's the difference,,,

Lovely video. Just one clarification, the Charyapadas do not have _influence_ of Assamese, Odia and Maithili
Assamese, Bengali, Odia and Maithili lay equal claims over the Charyapadas, the Charyapadas are considered to be the oldest texts in all of these languages and not just Bengali. The language of the Charyapadas is said to be Sandhya Bhasha or Twilight Language
The bauls of Bengal and the deh bisar geets of Assam have both descended from the Charyapadas

there is literally a genre of songs where they praise of the prophet and his family's where lots of analogies are used. the example he gave are not prohibited.
also I think this has been incomplete. only the Hindu influences on Baul philosophy were mentione, there are lots of Muslim and buddhists influences as well. which was not expanded upon
to say baul philosophy comes from this or that religion is wrong because bauls reject having identities

This is one of the narratives of their genealogy. You are correct in pointing out the limitation of this video. Their past is shrouded in mystery. Other Fakirs have a different narrative to share. Joy Guru.

There is no marriage in Bengal without BISMILLAH KHAN's SANAI,,,,
THERE is no kali puja in Bengal without NAJRUL's SHYAMA SANGEET,,,,

Unlike Bismillah Khan, Nazrul (pronounce Nojrool) himself is Bengali. His contribution was not just Shyama Sangeet. You are making it sound like Muslim and Bengali are mutually exclusive and you are trying hard to include them into "Hindu Bengali" line while muslims are the majority amongst Bengalis and proudly Bengali.

@@aharnishchowdhury3474 why this majority minority talk ? This led to violence in 1947 and 1971. Everyone is a Bengali and leave it at that

The bhakti movement of shriman Chaitanya mahaprabhu is not about rejecting the practices of scripture.
Shriman Chaitanya mahaprabhu gave a thestic philosophy which accepts scriptures as praman.
Mahaprabhu's movement was to establish the yug dharma hari nam sankirtan which is itself authorized by scriptures.
Mahaprabhu never faced opposition from the king orissa
The king of that time Pratap rudra was himself a follower of shriman Chaitanya mahaprabhu.
The great philosophy of Achintya bhed abhed was preached by mahaprabhu.
The scholarly works on this philosophy are
    Sat sandarbh
Govind bhasiya ( a commentary on vedant sutra )
    Sar arth varshini
    Tatva deepika
    Many more.
So in conclusion I would like to say that the way the movement of Mahaprabhu is presented here is not correct and even wrong on facts.
To prove the personal stand the movement of Mahaprabhu is over simplified on the cost lossing its philosophical deapths and vaidik identity.

Muslims supporting this 'tradition' has a historical reason. It's not a 'cult'.
Couldn't stop myself from calling this video a caricature. The explanation is a populist rendition of a highly rich tradition.
    Much appreciated though. Nice attempt.

This is real. Why do you think there aren't any more mathas and viharas in Bengal?
I'm not saying that muslims didn't break them, it's just saying that Bengalis had long converted back from Vajrayana to Bangali Shakta Sanatan, ab Jo hua hua kya kare Bhai?
