Grew up on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Until I was 16 we only had Canadian television and I have always loved the Canadian music scene. Listened to Sarah, the Barenaked Ladies, Spirit of the West, The Tragically Hip and so many others on radio stations out of Victoria and Vancouver. So glad I had access to those Canadian artists!
Absolutely deserved! A key Canadian performer in our history.
But what in the heck did Bill Clinton give kudos? Wth! Womanizer? American politician?! That was just a very weird choice.

Should have had Jay Leno give a tribute. Sarah is one of his favourite artists. She was chosen to perform in his last week as host of the Tonight Show.
Sarah is just ... so fantastic. Love her, her incredible talent, her humanity, and the positive vibes that she sends out to the world just by being in it and sharing herself through her beautiful music and voice.

I love Sarah McLachlan! She is an inspiration to us all and an amazing ambassador for Canadian grace, beauty and national pride.
I arrived in Vancouver in 97 just when she released her album, spent 8 months of some of the best moments of my life in Canada.
Congratulations Sarah! So deserving of this amazing award for an incredible career and success. Thank God for Canadian artists! She makes me glad to be Canadian. I'm 40 years old now and I've been listening to her music ever since I was 10 years old. I have fond memories of watching MuchMusic way back in the day with her on it regularly, and beyond... Much Love. BTW, as a sidenote, she looks absolutely stunning! She's obviously taking care of herself.
I was a huge fan during her Fumbling and Surfacing years. I was obsessed with her then, but man, somehow she became hotter!
Whenever I'd be walking through the main floor of QEH High School in Halifax, I'd always see Sarah's graduation class photo and feel very proud - such a beautiful soul!

Sarah is a beautifully gifted musician whom, I believe, has even further solidified the Canada/US relationship. I went to WA on business for the first time a few months ago, from Nova Scotia, Canada and instantly felt a connection to both the people and the land. The people were so friendly and the US border guards jokingly asked why on earth I'd travel all that distance to Northern Washington...I asked "why on earth not?!" It was a great time and Mt. Baker has stolen my heart 🙂
I’m so grateful to her for the gift of her music. But also for her very wise words of vision and love.
Yes, she's a talented singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, and a fantastic live performer, but what I love about her is her complete lack of "I'm a celebrity!" attitude. She's no stuck-up diva, just someone who takes so much joy in the music that she has to share it.
She didn't say thanks to the father of her children. Guess he's not much to her.

Getting into political arguments is for sure not the way to "give back" for artists and showbiz people. But she is a great artist nonetheless.
