Where do you find these things? Amazing stuff! I am a musician, and very bored about that same repertory, same repetitions every single time. Can't stand it anymore! Your channel is the one for those amazing pieces, especially romantic stuff! Thank you so much!

The ascension followed by a descension from 15:02 to 15:10 bears a significant resemblance to the ending of Chopin's Ballade No. 4 :) What a great and powerful quintet.

I've been looking for the recording of this piece for quite a long time. Thanks for the uploading. This is one of the most beautiful works of late romanticism. Hopefully youtube won't delete this. Wilhelm Berger deserves to be heard.

Wow, finally found this piece here, thanks for uploading! A very underestimated piece and one of my favourite pieces of chamber music, very Brahms-like and yet with his own style. Two thumbs up.

I've been listening to lesser-known but sometimes brilliant composers and pieces repeatedly for several years now but I still find this quartet one of the best, on par with Tschaikovsky's, Scharwenka's, Arensky's, Brahms', Klughart's, Martucci's or C. Frank's very best.

Wonderful work! Does anyone (beside me, of course) hear in the last movement some strong echoes of the last movement of Ernest Bloch's first Concerto Grosso? It's not only the similar instrumental ensemble, but also the character of the music: hewn from Granite, but at the same time - highly emotional and deeply felt.

I see how he uses his motifs(sometime several at once and to elongate and in 5th movement the interplay and emotion are wonderful! ) in opening movement .H section shows metaphor as music . He is obviously well trained ! He has good control over his materials ! And still only Brahms and perhaps Franck have the best piano quintets in this late romantic mode. Elgar 's too is rarely heard but not in their league .

+olla-vogala Not being much of a music critic, I'd say it was a good piece in the 19th century mold of Schumman/BRahms/Spohr, etc etc. as opposed to the Liszt/Wagner ultra-romanticism. This opinion has not been endorsed by my three cats >^..^
