Looks like an amazing lens. I always prefered an aperture ring when doing my wedding photography its so much quicker and easier to change as your left hand is already holding that part near the camera. Well done Canon you’re finally looking over the fence and taking in what other manufacturers have successfully brought to the world of photography such as Fuji.
Do you use it on R body with adapter? If so what is the feeling of the size and weigth. To me it is perfect budget but i kinda hope it is not to big and heavy for R8
@@meho9668 I am still a 5d mk4 user ,and I am into still photography not video and planning to buy r8 in September but one of my friend uses tamron 35 on r6 with adaptor , he's also in still photography , see if you're in still photography , there is no issue using heavy lens with adaptor on r body , but if you're in video , yes there is a doubt while using gimbal
The photography and videos in the background of this video are really dynamic and a nice change from the usual "street photography in NYC" vibe in a lot of camera announcements. Some lovely scenery and that lens looks really intriguing!
This lens looks really interesting. I actually just picked up a 50 mm 1.4 EF lens. I'm using it with a speed booster on my C70 and I almost exploded in happiness when I saw what it looked like. Yes it looks a little soft and yes it is an old lens That doesn't focus that great. I absolutely love it and I can't wait to see what the future holds with Canon
I dont get it. Your happy with cheap 30 year old lens, with bad focus and crappy optics and your are waiting eagerly what the future holds? Believe me they wont do these kind of lenses anymore. Future holds for optically perfect lenses with perfect AI focus and ofcourse for a higher budget than these old lenses. I just dont get it when photographers or videographers intentionaly use crappy stuff just to stand out. What is then the point of future?

I use the lens Canon EF 28mm F/2.8 IS USM. When attached to a RF camera with an adapter, willl this lens be able to take full advantage of the image stabilization capability of the camera, without degrading it ? In other words, will the 5-axis stabilization of the Canon R6 be preserved ?

This is the first in a series of these lenses… does this mean we can expect a new 50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.4 in this lineup??? I think a ton of us would love a 50mm that’s a bit smaller, lighter and has less focus breathing than the current option. The current 50mm f/1.8 just doesn’t cut it. Too much CA, not made for video work, and not a clean lens edge to edge. I’d love a 50mm f/1.4 with the same declickable aperture, low to no focus breathing, and about or exactly the same size as the new 35mm f/1.4
Hi Min! In photo mode, you would set the aperture ring to the "A" position and then control aperture with the camera control dials. The aperture ring only adjust aperture in movie mode. Hope that helps..

"Hybrid" used to mean a stills camera that could also do great video. It appears that Canon is changing that. Starting in 2024, a "Hybrid" Canon is a video camera that can also do stills! The market must be shifting! The aperture ring that LOCKS OUT during stills shooting tells us who this lens is for. Video must be where the market is going.
No IS! As a hybrid shooter i love IS. I’m happy with my RF 35 1.8 IS but with the new line of optics I’ll probably have to wait a long time for a 50mm with IS. Canon doesn’t have a 50mm with IS at all!
A long-awaited letdown. This is not to say that it's not going to be a great lens, but with all the rumors of a 1.2 and the other RF L lenses changing the game, this lacks luster. It doesn't seem like a significant improvement for those of us who have had the EF 35mm 1.4 for a decade.
U mean only insignificant for those like you - it's targeted for videographer filmmakers and this lens is VERY SIGNIFICANT. Just coz it's not what u want didn't mean it's instantly bad/ BS letdown!

Yes but why is the front view so unattractive? To me it looks less attractive and frankly kind of actually ugly with the small front element and way too much space around the front glass. I guess that makes more space for the excessive script that yells what the lens is, all the more to "impress the influencer". Hard pass on this lens. Give it 36 months and the Mark 2 version likely will have a 'prettier face'.

The EF 35mm 1.4ii has a clicking sound when it changes focus distance. Does this sound also have a sound or is it silent?
I preordered it but am not a fan of the 67mm filter size. Most of the RF L lenses are 77 or 82. 😡
just add a step-up ring :) most other 35 1.4s are also only 67 or 72mm.
@@Digi20 I don’t generally use step up rings. Going from 67 to 77mm is large enough to make it impossible to use the lens hood.
