What was the other gray hose you were using?

    • @CMooreStarts
      @CMooreStarts  4 года назад +4

I was waiting for someone to ask that. It is the Teknor Apex Heavy Duty 5/8-in x 50-ft Heavy-Duty Kink Free Vinyl Gray Coiled Hose. The same company that makes the Zero-G. Great hose and half the price. I was hoping the Zero-G would be of the same quality since it was the same company. I got it from the local auction house so I did not purchase it new.

I needed a trash can and some garden rakes, There were two of the Teknor Apex 5/8-in x 50-ft Heavy-Duty hoses coiled up in the bottom of the trash can with about 10 garden tools sticking out. It had 2 shovels, a couple spades, a couple pruners, and some rakes. I bid $5 and won everything in the trash can.

I have been using the non pro version at work cleaning & flushing boilers for over 5 years and have not had an issue. I hope yours was just made on Friday and the rest will be OK because having a 3/4 hose will be great for draining heating systems & tanks over the 5/8 standard version.

I've got about 400 ft, of the gray version in 50-foot lengths. the oldest is 3yrs. Use them on construction sites, home, farm. I'm sold on them. They transport well , coil well, light weight, etc etc. So far, no failures. The connecting ends have really good grip area that makes putting them together pretty easy.
    These are the 5/8s version.

I found these hoses to be very reliable, you just got a blooper. One thing that has happened to me after owning these for the past three years is the coupling can easily freeze to a brass outlet, so take them off before the first freeze.

I bought the 100’ Zero-G and just about lasted a year before the male end broke off. Customer service at Apex was nice in helping, but confusing as I didn’t know they wanted me to cut the good end off as well and send pictures to ensure hose was nothing more than a long useless tube.
After they approved, I opted for the digital visa refund which was less than the 100’ hose is in store. I opted to invest 1/2 the money into 1/2” brass hose couplings at Lowe’s with clamps as reg 3/4” wouldn’t fit. (1/2-3/8” barb) needed and adjustable clamps. We still have a 50’ that works
Like the “never kink” which kinked in the SE heat, loved the hose but not sure if will buy replacement. All wife did was unscrew the nozzle and it fell off. ( if repairing, tie not in hose to prevent inside rubber tube from slipping in. Otherwise, each cut the inner hose remains 1” deep
Fix the cheap connectors and this is great. Much better than the cheap exapanding hose. ASTV that turns into a water balloon after a few uses

It was great like new until I decided in 2022 that I 'm not going to roll it and hide it from the sun anymore after each use. So I just let it sit on the lawn in the sun after use. It lasted only 1 year before it split, and started kinking badly. I contacted the company and they ask me to send a photo of both ends cut , which I did. I got a refund me in 1 day.

I've owned my two 75' Zero-G Prro hoses for almost 3 years and never had a problem with mine. They are light weight, tough, and coil easily. The main reason I bought them was because I wanted a hose that would give me maximum gpm water flow to .y sprinkler. All of my cutoffs are 3/4" quarter turn ball valves that give a full 3/4" opening and doesn't decrease the water flow. All of my nozzles and attachments also have full 3/4" openings. Don't understand why anyone would buy a 3/4" hose and then attach it to a diverted that probably has a 3/8" opening. You may as well buy a 3/8" hose! Always match your hose size to the openings of what you are attaching them to!

It would if I used more than one valve open on the splitter and/or using two or more hoses at once. Maybe if I had two going at once, the hose might have survived? My well is set at 30psi max. I know my home town's city water pressure is close to 40psi and I have to use a reducer on my camping trailer to keep the pipes from leaking when I visit. The company should have built a pressure reducer into this hose.

I saw a couple of videos on repairing them and I could have probably done it with a hose clamp, but I wanted to get my money back. Without messing with it (cutting it apart), I couldn't see how it was supposed to connect to the head. Maybe they left a part off and that's why it failed. I was really disappointed though, because I had been using Teknor Apex's 50ft Heavy-Duty Kink Free Vinyl Gray Hose for a couple years now and really like it. during the 1'st hour of use last month the male end blew off.
took it to be a factory assembly failure and just fixed it myself with
    a new barbed male end and 2 s/s hose-clamps.
the season finally cooled off enough to have used them both lightly since then.
a lousy 1'st impression for sure. yet they are being kept
as otherwise i like their light and flimsy nature.
unlike the stiff , heavy , fold-prone ones they replace
both hoses were a local wal-mart online order buy , shipped to my door.
the local ace sells them too , for more money.

Interesting. I haven't heard of that before. I know the 1/2 inch flexzilla quick disconnect actually unscrews so you can replace it or cut it past a hole and reinstall. Happy Gardening!

I bet you intentionally broke that thing by pulling on it as hard as you could. It wasn't on video so I guess well never know.

I wanted to take it through my garden and see if the fire hose type material picked up any of the wood mulch and could give me slivers, just like I did with my other two hose reviews. Unfortunately, it didn't even make it into my garden. Check out the other hose videos. Thanks for commenting.

Just a thought first of all I own a hardware store and if you bring it back with the original packaging we will give you your money back even if you abuse the product as clearly you did!

I didn't get a chance to abuse the hose. I wanted to though. Really bringing it through my garden around the wood raised beds, letting the fabric chafe against the wood. I also wanted to see if bark mulch would get stuck in the hose material and either give me splinters or pop the hose. Unfortunately, it didn't even make it past rolling it out all the way and trying to bring it back.

The thing about the new hard hoses is that the new material, if it ever kinks it will remember that kink and it ALWAYS remains. What they call commercial grade is harder thicker material and on the OUTSIDE not the inside where it truly needs to be. A product like this will never remember the kink because of the material it's made out of. That being said, YOU made that hose fail. If you had paid attention it never would have boken or kinked at the connection. Should they have a wire guard there, yes. For people like you not paying attention. Easy enough to butcher a hose and put one on it. Hoses didn't kink back in the old daze. WTF happened?

For $60 they just should have made it better. I actually like their other hoses. I did nothing to it that other average people would do. I didn't even pull on it hard like a lot of people would if they are trying to get that extra couple of inches out of it. Basically, if it can't take normal moving around, then they shouldn't charge that much for it. I would expect that out of a no name hose bought online for $20.

Like everything else. Profit over quality. We still have a 50’ “ never kink” that is solid, but it kinked like crazy. Misleading brand. ( Same company)
