Notice the racquet tip is up during the preparation and how the racquet head is dropped along the back of the swing parallel to the baseline. His arm is also bent at the top of his load position, easily creating slice if desired and switching from eastern to continental grip. Also notice how much Roger lets the racquet go through the ball; the wrist is not locked; this creates more racquet speed and feel for spin.

@anysay4020 That's a good question and I don't know how to respond to it, I'll have to admit. I'll have to think about it. I've got a one-handed backhand (right-hand) that I'm fairly happy with. I'll never use a two-handed eventhough you can put a hell of a lot more topspin on the ball with a 2. I just prefer a 1
If you play tennis, you should keep your head down just for a split second after you hit the ball so you're definitely watching the ball come in contact with the racket. It's just good form. That's what we see Fed doing on this video. I've learned a lot just by watching Fed over the years, and it's drastically improved my game.
Never can be duplicated, Perfection
Si se puede ... Stefan Edber!
I support every player who has a one handed backhand.
Mesmo que fosse fazer com as duas eu era tão ruim que caia .
Musetti
Totally. Frankly, it’s pretty clear to me that you lose the point if you need a second hand. Point penalty for excessive use of slice.
Just Federrrrrryyyyyyy😂
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The one handed backhand is the most beautiful shot in the sport. Too bad it’s disappearing.
@cheskin84 really true ,but in the modern game it has a lot of disadvantages
Tsitsipas does It all the time yet
Aim adjust strike 🎯
Federer’s move in its purest
Perfect technique, wow!
Elegancia incomparable ❤
The focus in slow-mo is undeniable

This backhand does not look like eastern. Something between in the middle of eastern and continental I can see
Beautiful backhand 👍👍👍
Federer had a perfect backhand form
Amazing grace
Role model🎉
"Perfecto" 😎
One hand top spin backhand!
🐐
시선을 끝까지 타점을 보고 있네요
저도 그게 인상적이네요
So beautiful 😊
He is left eye dominate .. thus keeps he head down to see contact with left eye
Most beautiful Back hand on earth

Head down right on the ball as he hits it and after.

Parabenizo pelo seu aniversário
Che movimento meraviglioso. Uno dei migliori rovesci di sempre.
He could be a really good player
Stan Wawrinka also has a beautiful backhand. I'd compare it to Roger Federer's backhand.
Eye on the bal to the racket
Почему бьёт на прямых ногах?
If the Perfection exists... RF
Zero wasted energy.
Is Roger coming back?
No......
Butter !
He's hitting a pretty flat BH here. And low over the net.
Why show Federer his weakest point, by far, the backhand?

Pretty boring shot from Federer, i remember some backhands that just seemed to float further and further away fom opponents
Godo!
But where da fuck is he looking at

How does that cat hit so hard with those skinny ass arms?
Timing.

El revés más sobre valorado de la historia. Si no me creen pregúntele a Rafa
I’m a huge Federer fan but you’re right. If he had a double handed back hand then he’d have won way more than 20 slams. 😔
Risky shot
Yes so flat but he’s good at it.
