I think a lot of grown ass gamers want to relive their childhood memories with D1 and 2. But it will never have the same experience as the previous titles
I have D1 and D2, I love them still to this day. I have to say, I love D3 just as much. People need to relax a bit. Just because you don't like a couple of changes, that doesn't mean that the game is shit. Personally, I didn't like the always online thing, but the game continues to be awesome. The problem I see is that some of the fans had a picture in there mind of how it should be exactly for them, 1 small change and they feel betrayed... Isn't that a bit ignorant? Maybe they wanted the same g
i been playing d3 since may16 and its been awesome my personal score for this game is a 9.5/10 because its too short and sometimes (rare these days) the server is out . but its FUN
Like NarleyNinja said, you need to be more focused on what integrated graphics chipset you have; your ram is fine. The problem with integrated graphics (which is what most laptops have) is it doesn't have it's own dedicated memory, and they rarely have top market shader and lighting capability. So really it all depends on what chip your laptop has. Go to google and search for "Can you run it" and click on the top link. The site will analyze your comp and tell you if you can run the game.
Im having alot of fun playing Diablo 3. It is not a perfect game, but it is fun nonetheless. Nobody forces you to buy the game, if you dont like it, simply do not buy it. I like the fact it is a simple easy to play game, in terms of character management. And the more you play the more you are rewarded, the AH everyone is talking, i have not even tried it yet and im in Hell difficulty. Who cares about the AH ? Although it requires you to be allways online to play, this is not a mmorpg. Good game.
They don't. You only see hate comments because they're the only ones who bother to post their opinions. The game sold really well and continues to do well, and the expansion is eagerly anticipated (when it arrives). The game is in many ways superior and more evolved than the 2nd. A natural progression. The haters are ones that loved the 2nd so much, the changes are intolerable. I can't fault them for that, but it is sad that in this way, Dialbo lll was never going to be accepted by these people.
They hype is because people are still playing it's predecessor which was released just over a decade ago. As for the game itself, like many things, that is a matter of personal taste.
I just got in now as well, my point stands though, these intermittent server blackouts are a huge pain, and if you're at all familiar with Diablo 2, it should be something to think about if you plan on buying the game.
they did sort of, they talked about the changing skills and runes a little bit….but to me they should have devoted a solid minute or two discussing the ingeniousness and the uniqueness of the skill system that i PERSONALLY have never seen before in an rpg. It adds so much strategy to the game, and balance.
except that my hope is for people to have to deal with things themselves so they learn compassion and understanding. and i never said i was better than anyone else, i was merely targeting the trolls who hate on carolyn. sorry if i offended you.
i liked it idk what people are complaining about, i havent played the other ones but this one seems pretty good. its a good game to pass the time with, i hate when people take videogames so seriously its not like its getting you anywhere in life, they're made to pass time not to enrich your lives.
i know that people are back and forth on how this game is. I really did enjoy Diablo 2 but not to the extent that i wanted to. i'm planning on buying this game on friday and have played the trial through a few times. i honestly think this game might just be what i'm looking for. the combat is simple yet fun, enemies exploding as i chop them never seems to get old for me. all in all i think this game looks like it will be fun long enough to justify the high price tag. at least its no ANOTHER mmo
it doesnt suck its just youtube comments they say everygame sucks and the old one is the best it will go on for ever but dont listen to them I love diablo 3 and cant stop playing so I dont get all of the hate
Think about what you just said. This game moreso has to be viewed as an MMO because it requires an internet connection to play on Blizz servers. If the connection is unstable/laggy or there is frequent server downtime, that impacts the overall review of the game because it affects playability and its worth mentioning. In a year, it may no longer be an issue, but would that mean we should wait a year to buy the game? What does that say about the game now? Thats what the review needs to explain.
Skill trees. The skill trees are built very differently it's true. As to which one offers more customisation really is also subject to debate. Sure there are less skills, but the skills are more versatile with the effect of runes, and the fact skill damage is based off weapon damage is a definite step in a positive direction, and I'm amazed more games haven't done it sooner, this encourages experimentation. You don't like it, that's fine. I do and so do many, many others.
No problem man, Diablo 3 is a LOT of FUN, playing it daily but alas, servers are down for me right now lol. But, simply not transcendent as was Diablo 2. After 12 years, well I expected more new stuff. Still some fanboys get mad because it didn't get a 9.5 or 10, they have forgotten that 8.5 is a great score! And I am a diablo fanboy.
I just got in now as well though apparently the AH is down now. my point stands though, these intermittent server blackouts are a huge pain, and if you're at all familiar with Diablo 2, it should be something to think about if you plan on buying the game. Especially if you dislike MMOs.
Nah... some of us are doing the same... just with a better game - where you can actually control your characters build and where grinding for proper loot is part of the game like it should be (i.e can't be bought). Not to mention the fact that you don't have to be Online to play in single player mode... Torchlight 2 - what D3 should have been like
Well, I have my computer for... my first computer. And it still works. I just got a new one, but its a laptop for school. I take care of my computer. The desktop computer have lasted for ever. I bought by a friend, and he had for many years too.
People are angry because this is a different game with the same title. If I had known D3 was going to be the way it is I wouldn't have bought it. Unfortunately there's no way I and millions of fans could have known that and now were stuck with a game we never wanted and minus $60.
I don't believe you people are comparing site reviews. Each site gives their OWN rating what does it matter to this video review if IGN gave it a higher score? I think Diablo 3 is not at all amazing so why are you people crying about it not getting a 9? This review seems far more valid and unbiased compared to other sites anyway. No gear progression, linear skill learning, dull enemies and pathetically easy normal difficulty not to mention a constant internet connection is required.
It's actually pretty awesome. And no, I haven't played the previous Diablos. I didn't give a shit about this game til I got a guest pass and tried it out myself. Then I realized it was awesome, so I'm getting it tomorrow. And I usually don't even like dungeon crawlers
Diablo 3 is a really good game, it's really enjoyable. I am at Inferno now and I'm having a blast with the game. Though the game is not perfect. The story is not good and I do miss the skill and stat points from Diablo 2. Everything now is mostly based on what gear you have and I haven't really decieded if that is good or not. But if you can look past that this is not Diablo 2 it is after all Diablo 3 and changes have been made to make a NEW Diablo you will have really fun with this game 8/10
Yeah, the plot holes are pretty glaring. No spoilers, but I counted at least five situations that made no sense. For example, Azmodan wants the black soul stone and is searching for it. So, the heroes literally take it to HIS location to fight him. Um . . . wouldn't it make more sense to hid it elsewhere before you go fight him? And that's just one no brainer.
8.5 stands for a really great game, so an 8.5 suits her opinion. Diablo 3 has some serious issues, thus keeping it from a perfect score. And she review the game as it launched, not counting the potential it can have once all the issues are patched.
Right now I'd give the game a 6.5/10 with all the bugs, exploits, connection problems, lack of customization, crappy loot, blizzard patches without patch notes, etc...Hopefully they fix this game and make it like D2 then it will get a 9,
the game itself, gameplaywise, deserves probably a 9, maybe even a 9.5, since it's one of the best in it's genre's but there's also the always-connected, error-37, too-easy-on-normal-difficulty side of the game, which is why it gets a substraction i like diablo, i played D2 for a long time, but i'm actually not excited about D3 after playing the beta still, 8.5 is an awesome score
where did u find out it has 6.3 milllion players i don't have this game but i have preorderd max payne 3 for pc over this did i make the wrong decision? are u sure it has that many player base?
Its Your graphics card you need to be worried about rather then the amount of ram in your computer, Problem is most laptop's have integrated graphics in them which won't let you play game at top settings.
They're made to have fun, and invest alot of time in lol if you're a casual gamer than yes it's to pass time. This isn't a casual game. People still play diablo 2 an that came out over a decade ago
What? No, a troll is someone who makes statements that are solely intended to incite a strong emotional response in people for the purposes of entertaining themselves. What you think a troll means, while not totally incorrect, is definitely not "100% accurate". I'm also a little confused by the fact that you're giving serious thought to the possibility that I might be one of the people you refer to as "trolls" when I'm the one who was calling them out in the first place.
what the hell are you talking about? of course its relevant. when huge part of the playerbase cant play the game on the first day or two of a launch, its definitely relevant. the fact that the reason they couldnt was a design choice by the company that was widely criticized upon announcement, its relevant. the online component of the game directly impacts gameplay from performance to availability. just because you were fine, many others, myself included, werent, so its definitely relevant.
PvP? There is also PvP in Diablo lll. It has an arena. This argument also invalid. So far half the arguments put forward are completely unusable, so I'll address your valid arguments: offline mode. The fact you can't play offline is a negative. No argument there. Point taken. Storyline was amazing? yes it was. Is Diablo lll's storyline bad? That's purely a matter of opinion. Are you a fan of every story that's ever been written? no. Doesn't make them bad.
Well there are two reasons. 1st It's hype, they were talking about it so long how its great and how long it took to develop it so people think "12 yrs? omg it has to be so great. 2nd is the nostalgia. Diablo was a game of a generation, after diablo in every article about hack n slashes the autor was comparing it to the mighty "diablo". People were playing diablo for years. They want to fell this dark atmosphere once again. They fell emotional about it.
yea, whatever, just fyi, for those that got the game, say, today, have fun logging in. servers are down again. i definitely think that should be reflected in a review. especially since, again, this isnt an MMO despite being structured like one.
I didn't say that i wanted the default difficulty to be nightmare. I just said why couldn't blizzard let us choose the difficulty that we want to play at. And some people wouldn't mind that challenge. I will take you up on that proposition and i don't need luck coz the game is too easy already.
And when you say Diablo 3 is superior to Diablo 2 really pisses me off. Diablo 2 was infinety BETTER then Diablo 3 in every way. Better itemization, 7 classes, Truly random maps, Skill tree's , 100's of builds, PvP , great story, online was fun, offline mode, runes etc etc Don't even spew crap out like "Diablo 3 is amazing I like big numbers hur hur hur"
its pretty obvious that it would. how many people who want to play diablo 3 have a pc that is recently made? (4 years ago at the latest). Hardly any compared to the glorious amounts that the consoles have attained. PC gaming is the best, and will always be that way. It's just sad that for the consumer, it is more expensive to keep current than a console. But not by much now in 2012 when pc parts are lowering and lowering. when the new generation consoles come, pcs will be affordable.
Just bought this, Loving it so far, I just wish there was dungeons in which a tank healer and damage is needed. for the more PVE co-op players. Other then that. amazing fun.
I thought Diablo 3 was a great game! It doesn't match Diablo 2. But that doesn't stop it from being a fun game. The Story is amazing and gameplay easy to learn. So don't compare a game from it previous games. You Diablo fanboys who are hating on Diablo 3 can't denie that this is a fun game. I would give it a 9.5 just because it has a great story which is hard to fine in games now a days. And unique gameplay. Only flaw is that it's to easy in the begging unless your on Hell or Inferno.
I'd say this is a great review and the right score. the game has some weak spots, (story, bugs, online single player) but other than that this game does what it should and it does it great, better than any other in its genre, even better than D2 imo. now you are not obligated to take path A or path B to get far but you have much different effective skill combinations. its a great game with only the flaws not making it fantastic so 8,5/10 suits. very good review guys
Also, the fact that Blizzard chose to center the entire loot system to accommodate their RMAH money maker has essentially broken the Diablo franchise. They've made some terrible business related decisions regarding this game. They were afraid of losing WoW player base and so they basically created a scam as a result. If you still can't understand why people are so upset about this game go do research.
I like this review wayyyyy better then the IGN one thats for sure lol IGN didnt even mention its problems and they gave it a 9.5 which is way too high. I agree with the 8.5 score
its fanboyism. all big titles have those. i havnt played diablo ever, im interested and thats why i look up reviews. fanboys just rage against sceptics/haters/trolls.
Blizzard released the info of 6.3 million players on there website.. Its official information and the game would be getting only praise if it never had server problems (as the game itself is extremely awesome).
Diablo 3 is a good, fun and addicting game but they coul have listened to players fanbase but saying that I think that players need to stop hating on diablo 3 and like it for what it is and if you don't like the game don't play it and don't start ruining for players like me who injoy games like these by putting a hate online
I think the ign score was too high, and the gamespot too low. I would say a 9 would be a much better score. I just don't understand why they didn't mention the best part of the game...the skills. I have never played an rpg before with such a fantastic skill setup system where you have to choose the right combo of skills for the right time., and how they are never permanent. It adds so much strategy.
But the flaws such as the DRM I can't defend. I know why they put it in, but it still doesn't stop it from detracting the final score of the game. And at occasional points the story feels weaker than Diablo ll. I'm just saying overall it's a really nice game to play and look at, and it's innovative in many aspects.
Yes, you are correct. I am lying to someone on the internet who lives in Russia. Let me educate you a bit. Blizzard specifically asks the retailers for customers to contact them directly for any defective problems. This was implemented shortly after Activision took ownership of the company. You see it with other Activision products as well, such as skylanders. I see that you never learned anything in your law class, since you made a comparison of conditional ownership and retail trade. Done.
iv had 6 or 8 Windows. they all lasted 2 months at most, and i did take care of them. iv had 2 macs. the 1st one lasted 12 years. the one that im using right now for 2. i think macs wins this fight. and no im not going to say that your poor, because some windows computer are more pricy then mac. especially if you had to buy the same one 6 times. and i hate how windows has all the games, but thats what Bootcamp and Parallels Desktop are for.
Innovation. D3 is a perfectly executed game if we dismiss the whole servers fiasco, that what blizzard lead designer said. And I agree, its satisfying fun, but doesn't innovate one bit the game mechanics. It tries to imitate D2 in it's progression Act 1- gloomy Wilderness near Tristam, Act 2 deserts, act 3 - Battle & siege like LoD, act IV Heaven instead of hell, horadric cube = nephalem cube, etc. D2 is was huge leap compared to D1. D3 only tried to innovate online DRM & the auction house.
I'll get Diablo 3 when new Macbook Pro's will be out...so probably around June 11...Hope eu servers will be running smoothly by that time...btw diablo ftw
I wouldn't say everything except for inferno is "pathetically easy", especially on your first playthrough you're bound to struggle before you get to the 'challenge'.
I'll keep it short as I already discussed this on the comments below. D3, even in perfectly executed, does not innovate the genre as D2 did. D2 took a huge leap when compared to D1 (multiple locations, more classes, expanding story, horadric crafting etc..), alas D3 doesn't, no breakthrough. The sole gameplay innovation is combat with the great new skill system. And, we must recognize this, even if "disappointing", it did innovate Online DRM & the auction house AKA legalized chinesse farmers..
A 40 hour campaign is alot of time to simply "pass" so people want to feel rewarded and feel their time has been spent doing something quite productive, even if in the real world it isnt.
I think a lot of grown ass gamers want to relive their childhood memories with D1 and 2. But it will never have the same experience as the previous titles
I have D1 and D2, I love them still to this day. I have to say, I love D3 just as much. People need to relax a bit. Yeah, the always-online thing is annoying, but gameplay-wise D3 is PERFECT. Can't wait for Reaper of Souls
This reviewer is seriously the best gamespot has to offer.. Keep up the good work!
i been playing d3 since may16 and its been awesome
my personal score for this game is a 9.5/10 because its too short and sometimes (rare these days) the server is out .
but its FUN
would you recommend this to a new player? (never played d1/d2)
Looks pretty sick. Would I get a hang of the story?
Like NarleyNinja said, you need to be more focused on what integrated graphics chipset you have; your ram is fine. Should be. I'm playing Diablo 3 on high on my Macbook 2010 model and it runs fine.
They hype is because people are still playing it's predecessor which was released just over a decade ago. As for the game itself, like many things, that is a matter of personal taste.
4:30 what is the tier and name of the gear he's wearing for the monk?
I just got in now as well, my point stands though, these intermittent server blackouts are a huge pain, and if you're at all familiar with Diablo 2, it should be something to think about if you plan on buying the game.

I'm planning on getting this game soon. Can anyone recommend me the best class to choose for beginners?
Will buy it too soon....which class did you try yet ?
Not yet
Mrcapo100 oh why not ? I mean...you found something equivalent or better or just free2play ?
tnx
what are you getting at??
i liked it idk what people are complaining about, i havent played the other ones but this one seems pretty good. its a good game to pass the time with, i hate when people take videogames so seriously its not like its getting you anywhere in life, they're made to pass time not to enrich your lives.

gamespot gave MW3 a 9 while IGN gave it a 8.5
gamespot gave Black ops a 9 while IGN gave it a 8.5
you might want to retract your comment, buddy
I hate it when people assume that reviewers are biased towards cod but, in many cases, their not.Gamespot in fact gave mw3 a 8.5.

Good review...agree with the score. Good job gamespot. Being online for solo is not good esp where server issues and errors players been experiencing.
Can't decide if to get this on PS4 or not.

i not buying it yet cause i waited for the server is stabil...but the diablo 2 i s awesome and i hope diablo3 give me the same feeling
Because it's been in development for a decade, and the Diablo 2 was widely popular
And when you say Diablo 3 is superior to Diablo 2 really pisses me off. Diablo 2 was infinety BETTER then Diablo 3 in every way. Better itemization, 7 classes, Truly random maps, Skill tree's , 100's of builds, PvP , great story, online was fun, offline mode, runes etc etc
Don't even spew crap out like "Diablo 3 is amazing I like big numbers hur hur hur"
its pretty obvious that it would. how many people who want to play diablo 3 have a pc that is recently made? (4 years ago at the latest). Hardly any compared to the glorious amounts that the consoles have attained. PC gaming is the best, and will always be that way. It's just sad that for the consumer, it is more expensive to keep current than a console. But not by much now in 2012 when pc parts are lowering and lowering. when the new generation consoles come, pcs will be affordable.
Really like this game id personally give it a 9
i havent played either, but diablo 3 or something like guild wars 2?
Just bought this, Loving it so far, I just wish there was dungeons in which a tank healer and damage is needed. for the more PVE co-op players. Other then that. amazing fun.
U have a ps3
lol shut up everybody diablo 3 is getting amazing reviews because its amazing
I thought Diablo 3 was a great game! It doesn't match Diablo 2. But that doesn't stop it from being a fun game. The Story is amazing and gameplay easy to learn. So don't compare a game from it previous games. You Diablo fanboys who are hating on Diablo 3 can't denie that this is a fun game. I would give it a 9.5 just because it has a great story which is hard to fine in games now a days. And unique gameplay. Only flaw is that it's to easy in the begging unless your on Hell or Inferno.
im a fanboy of diablo and i liked it to death but i believe thats because it reminds me of my childhood, but you gotta admit the story is kinda cheezy
Fair review. Much better than IGN overhype & overrating. D3 is immense fun & a great game, but dwarfs in comparison to D2.
Great review, i agree with the 8.5.
glad we agree on something
agreed
I wonder what AngryJoe has to say about Diablo 3...
Yes.
its fanboyism. all big titles have those. i havnt played diablo ever, im interested and thats why i look up reviews. fanboys just rage against sceptics/haters/trolls.
Blizzard released the info of 6.3 million players on there website.. Its official information and the game would be getting only praise if it never had server problems (as the game itself is extremely awesome).
And it also innovated the skill system, which is a thousand times better, its great more active & engaging. Still, I miss choosing my attributes.
I'm just saying overall it's a really nice game to play and look at, and it's innovative in many aspects.
im playing this on full with a laptop atm i5, 8gb ram and a GT 330m card
Hey guys. Just bought Diablo III for Pc as a Xmas present for my bf, do you think he'll like? tnks
He'll marry you
Yes, you are correct.
Done.
iv had 6 or 8 Windows. they all lasted 2 months at most, and i did take care of them. iv had 2 macs. the 1st one lasted 12 years. the one that im using right now for 2. i think macs wins this fight. and no im not going to say that your poor, because some windows computer are more pricy then mac. especially if you had to buy the same one 6 times. and i hate how windows has all the games, but thats what Bootcamp and Parallels Desktop are for.
whats a good computer to play this on and other games?!?!?!?!?! Someone please help me!!!! //;
Just because you really like a game, it doesn't mean that it should get a 10/10.
Agree 100%
they gave it an 8.5 i feel thats a reasonable score, it didnt deserve 9 or above like the previous diablo games
D3 is a good game fun and simple, does not deserve more than 9
Yup
Wow Carolyn you've been keeping busy. First Max Payne 3 and then straight into Diablo3. Impressive! :)
your childish response made me to totally ignore your comment
It's some goodie from the Collector's edition.
Stupid ads! Why can't you let me enjoy this awesome video in peace?
I'll keep it short as I already discussed this on the comments below. D3, even in perfectly executed, does not innovate the genre as D2 did. D2 took a huge leap when compared to D1 (multiple locations, more classes, expanding story, horadric crafting etc..), alas D3 doesn't, no breakthrough. The sole gameplay innovation is combat with the great new skill system. And, we must recognize this, even if "disappointing", it did innovate Online DRM & the auction house AKA legalized chinesse farmers..
i think so...guess its the measure of how enjoyable something is...enjoyability.
Your comment didn't make any sense.
I would actually give it a 9.5, since I have no problems with the internet-based singelplayer
A 40 hour campaign is alot of time to simply "pass" so people want to feel rewarded and feel their time has been spent doing something quite productive, even if in the real world it isnt.
I agree with this blizzard didnt mess things up and if u want PvP play D2 or shut up and stop complaining
