That’s because in reality neutrals can be looked at as jokers as they aren’t really colours - so it’s more if you’re wearing brighter colours, though it’s all about being creative! I find it sometimes work even for neutrals as well. Even so there are always exceptions to the rule and I especially find that simply be repeating a few of the colours you wear it automatically makes it more balanced for the eye🙏🏻 I don’t always follow the rule but find it helpful if I feel my outfits need a bit of coherence. I thought this too. But then realised a couple of the outfits had a cross and were followed by those with a tick! Missed it the first time as I was looking at the outfit itself. Had to go back and watch it again. Then it made sense!
I’ve always been into black, gray and white closet. Never liked “color”. For the first time I am wearing Brown, Rust and Olive and I love it. Love your videos!

However, by using neutrals like white, gray, or black, it's possible to utilize more colors in the outfit without making it too visually chaotic. For example, a white shirt, black trousers, medium-blue denim jacket, and a tan handbag doesn't create a chaotic look. It still looks simple and intentional because all of the colors are subtle, and two of the colors are black and white. The outfit would look even more cohesive if the trousers were gray instead of black, imo, while still keeping 4 colors. Blue denim is usually considered neutral, and so is tan, so that outfit was entirely created from neutrals. If the outfit had been created from, for instance, a fuchsia blouse, green trousers, a purple jacket, and a yellow handbag, you see how it would have been jarring to the eye, and not cohesive. Not elegant.
