      I think a better word for alto would be “middle clouds” although the direct translation is tall. It’s like Starbucks calling their small cup “tall”.

    8:53 I have experienced the Morning Glory cloud, what Mr Atlas Pro didn't mention is that when each cloud comes over it blows cold air down to the ground, taking air from the upper atmosphere and blowing it into the ground. This means you get a sudden temperature drop of 10C or more. So when I first saw the clouds it was about 28C then it dropped to maybe as low as 16C in less than 30 seconds and it feels like stepping under an air-conditioner outlet.

    Awesome! Pretty good coverage packed into a short length. The only things noticeably missing were virga, fog, contrails, various severe weather cloud forms like roll and shelf clouds, and steamstack clouds from factories and plants (I don't know if these have a formal name). You could also make a whole companion video talking about light / color phenomena associated with clouds and atmospheric moisture, covering noctilucent clouds, iridescent clouds (which you already covered in this video), the various halos, pillars, etc., and, my favorite, cloud colors (where clouds take on redder vs. bluer hues)!

    Flying into Cancun, I was fascinated by the cloud formations, they looked like textbook cumulus only we were viewing them from above. They were very white and billowy The clouds formed many, many huge tall individual towers stretching up to our flight level (commercial airline cruising altitude). We were flying among the towers almost over them. It was one of the most amazing thing I've seen. The towers were separated by maybe miles, I would guess, but stretched as far as the eye could see. It was like flying through or above a forest of clouds, bright white and brilliant blue. Is that a typical sight for airline pilots?

    • @kedrednael
      @kedrednael 5 лет назад +22

      Hi I don't think we really know about different kinds of clouds on those planets yet. Here are the best close up pictures of Jupiter, but most of those pictures still image such a big area that the entire earth could fit on the picture.
      photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/jpeg/PIA22935.jpg
      photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/jpeg/PIA22423.jpg
      photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/jpeg/PIA22426.jpg
      www.nasa.gov/image-feature/jpl/jovian-close-encounter
      But justV23 on Deviantart has some of the most realistic space art I think:
      www.deviantart.com/justv23/art/Sky-of-a-ringed-planet-679955633
      I imagine this is what the exciting white dots of the photographs look like, but the larger cloud features are probably more diffuse and smooth.
      Most scientific papers are about the composition, the altitude, particle sizes of different cloud layers, and climate. But not about the exact shapes of the clouds themselves.

    1-2 weeks ago in belgium, there were night shining clouds
    (correct term is noctilucent cloud ). clouds that are on an altitude of 80km/ 50miles and when the sun goes down, when the horizon start giving that pink glow, you can see these types of clouds. they have a silver blue shine and looks like the northern lights and they are moving because of the wind.

    Hey Atlas, during the summertime if you live west of the great lakes (say, Milwaukee WI) you can see the wavey clouds quite often when wind comes off the lake since most clouds travel west to east here and the cooler air disturbs the clouds to make a wavey pattern.

    I wondered if he'd mention the coolest clouds I've seen, 6:07 ....didn't dissappoint! I've only seen them Once the whole sky was a grayish green layer of them very defined like shown in the video. I live in the Pacific Northwest where 90% of the time there is cloud cover. Not complaining though as we've had a nice cool summer.

    1.mamatus clouds,drops from cumulonimbus sever weather
    2.fractus clouds,they are like chopped up clouds for picture go to sit wiz's weather kids
    3.green clouds,severe weather

    • @AtlasPro1
      @AtlasPro1  6 лет назад +2

      I included one type of mammatus, as well and one or two types of fractus. Technically they apply from other cloud types but they're more or less identified to the categories I included them in. At least that's how they did it in my college. Green clouds are just regular storm clouds that occur at just the right altitude at just the right time of day. Hope this helps!

    Almost all in one! - You missed Noctilucent clouds, but they are so high and so transparent, that you can only spot them in a twilight zone during summer just under the Arctic circle. Highlands in Scotland have a lot of this stuff around summer solstice. But except this one bit - The video is awesome!

    Cumulonimbus Incus: *THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM!*

    • @Philippine_Navyist16
      @Philippine_Navyist16 3 года назад

      If you dont understand consider studying(or NOT!!!): CN incus is tge final form of thunderstorms its not about the looks its about the peak pricepitation and the intensity of hazards but capillatus looks tough but not really.because the pricipetation is still vapor while the updraft falls and inverts into downdraft creating pricepitation but some droplets will evaporate on the forward or central anvil creating virga and the intensity of the updraft is high so thats why its the final stage of a thunderstorm after 10-15 minutes it will start dissipating leaving the anvil left over with drizzle and virga.

      @@flakmag1004 the problem is even if i learned Metric as good as you, there is absolutely nothing i can plug this metric into! here's an example, i own 6 cars, 2 modern and 4 classics, all the classics read in MPH, "oh well that's because they're american cars", 3 are actually not! a 69 Subaru 360, a 78 Subaru Brat, a 68 Peugeot 404, and a 70 AMC Gremlin. here's another example, most products you buy at a store reads in Imperial, 1 Gal (3.78L) if they even provide that for you, even if i tried switching, it makes absolutely no sense to since nothing else uses it, might as well call it your own Measurements instead of the Metric system.
      and as a mechanic, this problem amplifies, i need twice as many tools as you, most american vehicles here the body of the vehicle is in Standard Measurements, while the Drivetrain is in Metric. it's all complete nonsense.
