I would love to walk up and down all those quaint, beautiful streets in Nice. So many interesting shops and boutiques to look at. And not a "Walmart" in sight, thank God. And ahhh, the French make the tastiest food on earth! Mon Dieu ! Nice looks like Paradise from these videos.
French Riviera is my favorite place. Someday I will live there. I like the weather and the sea. I live in Finland now but I have been in Juan-les-Pins almost every year since 1998. Juan-les-Pins is a small town situated between Antibes and Cannes. Every time when I have been there, I have also visited Nice, but I like more Juan-les-pins because it's a little bit more quiet place than Nice and the beach is better.
Nice is such a wonderful city, it has it all. Wonderful vistas, great culture, lively markets and lovely restaurants. I love Paris as well and if I could move Paris by the sea it would be sheer heaven. Having said that Im so looking forward to my holidays there in less than 3 weeks now. France does deserve its ranking of best country in the world to live. If I could I would live there, my work wont allow it for now.In the future I may live there. Nowehere comes to France. Vive la differance
Good clip! I was just in Menton and Tourettes-sur-Loup and we've decided that Nice is so excellent, and the fifth largest city of France, it deserves an entire vacation just until itself. I am American but French now and we live around Paris. The Côte d'Azur is about perfect and I studied in Italy and love it but this is so good here in France!
My wife and I are going to Europe in August. London, Amsterdam, Nice and Paris. We have a flat booked in Nice (and London too) and the flat is in the old part. We can't wait. First time in Nice but we've spent lots of time traveling in France and Italy. Love it out there.
I was looking for such video since long time........many many thanks for uploading such video. I would love to be at Nice at any cost, at any time before I just leave this earth...........
It's evident that the province of Nizza and Corsica are Italian. The language speaks there now (imposed by the French government) means nothing. The urban setting is typical of the Ligurian coast. But France was extremely influential in the past and these distortions are the results of today.
Nizza was an Italian city until 1860 and then annexed to France through a rigged referendum, then they started with the policy of francisation , people last names were changed Bianchi became Le Blanc, Del Ponte became Dupont, Pastore became Pastor, etc, Italian language newspapers were shut down such La Voce di Nizza. Today Nizza/Nice is an homogeneous French city. One of the most important italian founding father " Giuseppe Garibaldi " was born in Nizza.
Nice est merveilleux , je suis envisage de venir ici pour vivre, travailler probablement dans la restauration. Thank you for video rick steves europe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@osprey305 Totally agree with mag. It is the most wonderful country in the world. Im going there in September again. Cant get enough of France. Its a beautiful country. Vive La Francais.
Haha, I know you'll read this for approval and decline it but there isn't true serious heat in august of france thats the time I go every year. And its not crowded really. Not at all.
He mis-represents the motive of the local English residents. They raised funds to provide employment for the poor French workers who were suffering severe unemployment after a devastating harvest failure. The Promenade des Anglais was the result.
@vmmc64 Cannes is the one of the most beautiful cities in France and it's wonderful, but, Nice has a best nightlife and it's beaches are fantastic., i don't know what are u seekin' culture Cannes, fun Nice, both?... Marseille. Disculpa mi inglés, mi lengua madre es Español, pero he estado en las tres ciudades playeras más famosas de Francia y la que más me gustó fue Marsella.
@osprey305 yea probably, but forget about Nice ! i mean i'm living in Nice and this is definitely "the place not to be", according to several french magazines...... and me it's like a liitle french california but so many foreigners (and locals) are disapointed living in this place :-))
And Actually I go here every summer you're wrong. It's not SUPER hot in aguest in fact thats the time my family goes and it's not pact either you're wron bud
Your sentence isn't very good, there isn't only one French culture. I live near Lyon, where there isn't the same culture as Grenoble, Strasbourg, Bordeaux, Lille, Paris and Nice. So each part of the France is different, and all the parts compose the French culture (Provencal, Alps, Basque, Alsacian...). Of course, there is a common base, and you can also find it in Nice. But it is the same in all countries in the world. For example, New York and Houston don't have the same exact culture, and they are both in USA (I don't think that all the Houston people knows that they live in the same country as the New York people lol...)

Rick, you always make travel more enjoyable with your deep insight.

Interestingly, the memorial to the war dead in the large rock hill still contains a lot of Italian names.

even though really nice,corisca,saint-jean-cap-ferrat and maybe monaco don't belong to France but to Italy the Italians still respect the French
The French basically defeated the Austrians to give them independence. Look it up.

Nice is culturally Occitan/Provencal, not French.
Your sentence isn't very good, there isn't only one French culture. I live near Lyon, where there isn't the same culture as Grenoble, Strasbourg, Bordeaux, Lille, Paris and Nice.
