Clockwork Angels is probably their most complete concept album. For us Rush fans, this song is special because this was their last song, on their last album and sadly only 8 years later Neil was taken from the world far too soon. He found happiness and contentment with his new family and cancer took him away from all that.
The last song on their last album. That beautiful little piano piece was written by Alex Lifeson.
A prophetic song that would see the death of one of the worlds greatest drummers and most profound lyricist Neil Peart RIP. Long live the mighty Rush that officially ended their career in 2015 with the R40 tour…
20 studio albums, 41 years active in the music industry. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted 2013 while they were out on tour in support for this album.
This is the last song on the Clockwork Angeles album, many consider it their swan song. It was the first time that they brought other people (strings section) on stage with them to play several songs. I caught this tour in Las Vegas.
I never missed a tour since 1985. At least one concert on each tour. I caught the Time Machine tour in Vegas, both legs, same exact VIP package, same exact seats. 14 row Sec. B, dead center.
Wow so jealous I never got that close to the stage. Maybe that's why they didn't think any women who are in the audience cuz I was in the nosebleed seats😂
Why is that great man gone. I don't ever want him to be forgotten.
He won't be... he'll never be forgotten. I miss Neil too. As well as so many others.
Greatest lyricist/poet and drummer that ever lived ❤
The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect, so hard to earn, so easily burned. R.I.P. Neil😢
When you're young you have your whole future ahead of you, then comes the line "The future disappears into memory, with only a moment between" and that moment reflects time's infinite jest. At least that's what it means to me.
RUSH The greatest rock band that ever was or ever will be.
This beautiful song, was Neil Peart's epitaph for his career and eventually his life. I always tear up listening to this one.
Neil’s swan song ❤❤❤❤
“The watchmaker has time up his sleeve”
So emotional ❤❤❤❤
Rest in peace Professor.
🥁 🥁 🐐 🐐
One of the most beautiful songs, ever!
When this song pops up in my feed I always tell myself I'll just listen to a little of it and then do something else. 7 minutes later I'm always blinking a tear from my eye.
I know what you mean.
Same here..😥
Same…
I haven’t made it through this song without crying since Neil died
Me three 😢 Neil
The Drummer Neil wrote the lyrics , this is so much from his heart, He lost a daughter in a car crash then shortly after his wife to cancer ,this was so emotional for the band members , a Garden the family ,, to watch and protect
R-40 is their final tour. Neil's daughter attended in LA . I believe
I know she definitely was at the R40 in New Orleans. They were in one of the sky boxes at the arena. It was said that it was the first time she saw her Father play. Take care 🙂🎸
I SAW THEM ON JANUARY 31ST, 1975 AT WINTERLAND IN SAN FRANCISCO, ON THE FLY BY NIGHT TOUR , NEIL'S FIRST WITH RUSH... THEY WERE THE OPENER FOR KISS AND THE TUBES WERE IN THE MIDDLE SLOT.. BETWEEN 1975 AND 1984 SEEN THEM 9 TIMES . THAT 1ST TIME IN 75 I WAS 15 YRS OLD AND THOSE WERE MAGICAL TIMES FOR ROCK......
For a meat and potatoes song from this band check out Workingman live in Cleveland ,see how three guys in their 50s end a three hour show show 🔥 🔥 🔥
What’s up, Fabian? I’m just south of you. Johnson County. Good reaction, bro. 😎 Rush is legend. They them as they say.
Much love ✌🏾
😁❤🇨🇦 Rush toured from 1974 to 2015 when Neil decided to pack things up
@@kimbarry4674 I got to see them on their farewell tour.
@@schrodingers-gat I wish❤️🇨🇦
The last song from their ladt album.
"The measure of a life
Is a measure of love and respect,
A garden to nurture and protect"
They KNEW this wss the end...
Mind blown..
You're in an apt position to really explore Rush music..Now, go back over Rush's unique & brilliant musical career..✌️
A masterpeice
How does your garden grow? ;-) It's a measure of a life......
This was Neil saying goodbye in my opinion. Between this and playing Losing It for the first time in concert.
I don’t think he knew he would die a few years later, but I do think he knew his health was declining and that his music career was over.
I had the pleasure of seeing the Clockwork Angels tour in Charlotte, NC. Another great tour... Played a lot of Power Windows deep cuts. Territories is a great song to react to from Power Windows. Keep rocking, Fabian! Love the reactions!!!
I don't know about other shows, but I caught their opening show in Manchester NH. It was easily a top 10 moment of my life.
The measure of a life is the garden of love & respect you cultivate\grow . It is hard to grow but can be easily lost .
This was basically Neil looking back at his life and career a good bye to his fans and sadly it had extra meaning to the fans when Neil Peart passed away .Rip brother Neil 🙏🤘RUSH🤘😃s from 🇨🇦
Clockwork Angels was their 19th studio album
You have to listen to whole album. Tells a story and this is the final song. Makes more sense from that concept
I'm crying. Neil's last song. Interestingly, the band started in the 70s with a song called "Garden Road" and ended their career with "The Garden." They are genius musicians and Neil is missed to this day.
DRUMMER NEIL PEART WAS THE GREATEST LYRICIST....RIP NEIL !!!
I seen this tour twice. Once in Kansas City once in St Louis
Most rock guitarists have some diva in them. Alex Lifeson is an exception, imo, too nice a guy, despite being one of the best around. Hetfield thought s lot of him as you said. So did Eddie Van Halen.
Alex stayed within the group structure and concept. There were a few solos in his career with Rush that I think of as “statements.”
The solo in The Garden was definitely one of them.
Met him once in Toronto in the 70s in passing. Super nice guy. Love this solo but I think his solo in La Villa Strangiato was top 5 of anyone.
Agree completely. La Villa Strangiato solo is on the statement list. So is the solo at the end of Xanadu. Having a hard time thinking of the others just now.
The other thing about many Rush classics is many have an instrumental break in the middle in which all three of them go off.
Alex had brief solos or riffs in a number of those that almost qualify (Spirit of Radio, Tom Sawyer, YYZ and others.
I'd like to bring up the interplay of Lifeson and Lee during 'Working Man' as a signature Lifeson solo. They are having a friendly battle as they play their "axes" and that song was essentially their first "hit" (it took awhile for people to get into them). Right from the jump, Lifeson could play one bad axe.
This song has always meant a lot... but with my best friend dying of heart failure at only 32 years old(her bday is this Thursday, April 18, and she's trying her best to make it until then), it means SO much more. I don't think I'll ever be able to see this without crying. But most importantly... without realizing how effing precious life is. I told her I'll take care of her garden after she's gone... she's loves Rush as well :)
I think Alex and Geddy wanted to extend this tour to Europe, but that was not to happen.
1974-2015
dreamline alive urgent
Rush is best fuck the rest.😊
History will remember them as the greatest musicians in the world!
I was at that concert and thought...the theme is life, time....wonder if one of them is dealing with their own fate? Sick? Wow❤
I was there as well...and I had the same sense.
FortWorthPaul here...just found this channel.
If there was one song that every human being alive should know and understand, this is it. This will be my funeral song.
This song is so universal and a simple guide to just being a good person and caring and taking care of those you love. For them to release an album of this quality and energy (as they were approaching 60) and to finish their recorded career with this song was a privilege to hear. I truly miss these guys. And more than anything, they just seem to be good people. And I like good people.
Thanks for posting this. I was fortunate to see Rush in concert 27 times, including their final show in Toronto, June 19, 2015 and this song, their last, has always brought tears to my eyes. I will never tire of their music and will forever miss their shows. RIP Mr. Peart and thanks to Rush!!
You really don't really understand why the song was written
I caught this tour in San Antonio with my son !!!
lucky
The strings 🙌🏼
They certainly push up the emotional level.😢
🤗 Got time off & 😚 pleasantly surprised to find tons of your Rush Reactions to enjoy this Holiday Weekend! 🐇 Hoppy Easter to you & your family! 🥹 RIP Professor 🥰🐰
Great reaction. But perhaps I misheard or you misspoke, I heard you say their 9th album. It was their 19th.
They don't have a bad song so just pick as you will . I would go for nobody's hero next .l think you would like it. Deep.
I can’t think of another band or musician that left us with a better swansong
You probably do now.
Respect your opinion
Neil lost his daughter and wife within one year 😢
Peart once said that the brain cancer would help him achieve true separation of limbs. Shit, I wish it didn't!
if I remember correctly Rush only has 3 band members I havnt listened to them since th 80s until now
It's their 19th (!!) Studio album, not 9th lol
I appreciate your take on my favorite canadian band. Born in 62 I still crave the '70s THE best time for creative music and sounds. The Hair Bands of the '80s Can I go back??? Pretty please!!!!
Rhythm?!? He can do it all and with soul and emotion to spare!
Can you please react to Stick it out by Rush , music video version please 😊
My wife and I have seen Rush in concert so many times. We decided to skip their last concert at the LA Forum thinking they would be back again. We are so sorry we missed it now. But we did get to see this tour in 2012. I think it was in Irvine at the Honda, but I'm not positive. I also saw them at the Gibson Amphitheatre somewhere in there but it's foggy to me now. Aggghhhh, now I have to look at my stubs.
This song is the best!
It is a measure of a life. 40 years they dealt with it. What is your measure . I hope it is love.
Hell-ta-tha-yeah!
Rush had double 9 studio alb7ms.
Neil Peary was a story telling drummer!
Neil who?
RUSH IN THE END.
I miss rush❤😊
Knowing the time after this song of Neil's demise and after my Mom's passing during the early hours of the fourth day of this year, I can't keep my eyes dry when I hear this.
Yes with Neil loosing his daughter to a car accident ,then shortly after his wife passed from Cancer this must have been hard fir him to play
That solo, goose bumps every time.
Uggghggh
I've always thought this was about....his new family and especially his daughter. So loving and meaningful in the context of the tragedies that Neil experienced. God I miss that guy.
If you only knew how many tears where shed by your followers as they watched you react to these 3 great musicians.
One of the violin players is the brother of actor Peter Dinklage.
