My husband broke the news to me about Neil's death as soon as he heard it, for he didn't want me to hear it from anyone else. Like every other Rush fan, I was devastated. None of us had any idea Neil had cancer, and he had been suffering with it for three years. My husband, the love of my life, died three weeks after Neil, also ending his three year battle with cancer. The Garden was played for me by my son after Robert's private memorial, and it will ever be entwined with my life. This song is more than just music and words, it is joy and pain, love and memory.

I never got the moment to truly mourn their last tour, the loss of Neil, and the ultimate end of my father's and my favorite band. I knew the tour would likely be their last, given Neil's foot injury and strain from touring, but I was just so grateful to go with my family. I knew Clockwork Angels was probably their last album, but there was always hope that they might release more. When the news about Neil's passing hit, I was with friends, but my immediate reaction was to check on my dad, and make sure he heard it from me first. I never had the moment to mourn, myself. I finally got that moment tonight with your reaction. Thank you. To me, Rush will always be the greatest band, and though this song isn't my favorite of theirs, they considered it the peak of the culmination of their musical careers. That's what makes it hit so hard. This was the piece to send them off, and it's the one that tugs hardest at the heart. Jamal you’re not alone in feeling emotional when hearing this song. The music so perfectly sets the mood to what the lyrics are saying. Couple that with the great visuals and really are taken on a journey. I’m sorry you never got to see them perform live but I know you would of come away elated at the experience. As a 58 yr old I was fortunate to see them 30 +times and each time I came away not wanting it to be over and anxiously awaiting the next time. Thx for all you’re great reactions and peace to you !

Man, what a treat to see someone new-ish to Rush experience the live performance of that song for the first time. I was fortunate enough to catch several shows on the Clockwork Angels Tour, and this song was always very powerful. What a great marriage of heartfelt lyrics from a monster writer and musician to Geddy’s earnest vocal delivery and Alex’s soaring solo.

True music, thoughtful insightful lyrics are to me what this band is and has always been about. When you strip these songs to the bare lyrics negating the unmistakable voice of geddy and musicianship of each member you get rush. You can tell the thoughtfulness that it took to craft the songs. Music that is so good it transcends ALL barriers, making you emote feelings and being relatable to different people differently. This bands was more than a band they were best friends. They dealt with triumphs and tragedies over multiple decades. Even though we’ve never met thank you Neil for everything may you be at peace.

Great drumming and an awesome bass playing performance by geddy Lee.(I forgot about geddy's out of this world bass playing masterclass on LEAVE THAT THING ALONE,) time machine tour 2011. The connection you are feeling as you grow into the band is something many Rush fans have had grow in them from the first listen, whether that first time was in 1974, 1981, 1987, 94, or 2012...and Rush fans beget other Rush fans, through siblings, spouses, children, and friends. For those of who truly do connect with this band, it becomes a defining element of our lives. For me personally, no other band or group of artists have so accompanied, inspired, and helped my life as the boys in Rush. Many people have already commented how emotional this song has become since Neil's passing, and the lyrics he wrote intensify that: he lived by the words he wrote, and we as fans, and brothers and sisters, are still learning to accept a universe without him in it. We are lucky beyond measure that he, and the rest of the band, so willingly offered their gifts and efforts to us over the years. I know it has made my life immeasurably better.
I hope you continue to grow that connection to a band that means so much to all of us, and I hope it becomes something you can share, as you are through your channel, with people you care about, so that Neil, and Rush, can remain immortal through their art.
