You are absolutely correct--this song has so many great lines. My favorite is... The flowers in the city though breathlike get death-like at times, And there's no sense in trying to deal with dying, though I cannot explain that in lines I've loved this tune for years and would often sing it to myself whenever it popped into my head. I would describe this as a soulful love song that is sung with a lonely heart. You can feel his pain and anguish of trying yet being unable to communicate with the object of his desire. He seems to realize it's too late when he says, 'I can see that your head has been twisted and fed, but worthless foam from the mouth.' He then admits his defeat with the line, 'I'd forever talk to you, but soon my words they would turn into a meaningless ring.' Such a powerful song.
Hey Cimby One day maybe whose knows Baby I’ll come Crying to You ! Oh my Bobby is so hurt and vulnerable or is she . He paints the dilemma of love and pain . Keep them coming ❤ Ciao John
I didn't discover Bob Dylan in college until a frat pledge suggested this as I preferred to listen to music out of time (grunge and gangsta was the pop during this period). Absolutely fell in love with this nasally voice and lyrical scope. Changed my musical taste enough to discover other music outside the pop cultural box. Other reaction recommendations include One More Cup Of Coffee, Desolation Row, Tangled Up In Blue, Visions Of Johanna, Subterranean Homesick Blues, etc. etc.
Thanks Cimdy I've requested this one so I'm happy with this video and your reactions!! And "I've heard you say many times that your better than no one and no one is better than you" You are making your way through "Another side of Bob Dylan" whether intentionally or not and every track on this album is fantastic there are no "fillers" when we listen to Bob, John, Paul, George, and Ringo!!
This is the album where bob’s politically obsessed fans still thought he was with them because its all acoustic, & still folk music oriented, but in bob’s head he hadnt taken a really sharp turn down a whole different road, this album is secretly the one that started his revolution with the intention of “putiing art on the jukebox”, this album was the prototype for the “bringing it all back home” & “highway 61 revisited” albums...”mr tambourine man” & “its alright ma (im only bleeding)” had pretty much already been written, it was at this point in time that bob knew his direction would be different from now on, but the political fans, the ones who booed at newport a year later, they didnt know yet, they were fooled by the acoustic-ness of this album. Great reaction, check out “Spanish harlem incident”.
This is one of those songs that when someone says they hate bob dylan u just smile to yourself & think “you poor bastard”
or better still ... ejits ... as the Irish say lol
One of the greatest love songs ever written.
Dylan is the main reason I survived high school. His lyrics helped make sense of the world.
Dylan is number one 🏴👍😄🎸🕶️
Beautiful, perfect lyrics, beautiful, heartfelt, delivery, no one comes close to his art
What a poet genius Dylan is 🏴👍😄
Ramona, come closer, shut softly,
your watery eyes

Another thoughtful reaction. Give "Bob Dylan's Dream" a listen and then try to figure out how a 21 year old could write such a tune.

Who else would write a song like this? I bought this album when it first came out and I've got to do this song at an open mic sometime.
