- The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting Wednesday evening at the request of Ukraine after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a “special military operation” in eastern Ukraine, telling the West not to intervene in what appeared to be the beginning of war in Europe.

Putin going ahead with the war while the Security Council is in session is a slap in the face of the UN.
No one wants to get nuke
The UN has no weight to it anymore when it comes to this. They have meetings after meetings and votes then they'll have more meetings. All the while Russia storms into a sovereign country. Even if the UN does anything in the end it'll be a monetary sanction or blocking them from being in this or that group. Putin dint care about all that.. hes rolling over who he wants knowing the west sit on their hands and talk.

Unbelievable! One member, the member who is responsible for Ukrainian aggression (the Russian Federation), is able to circumvent the main purpose of U.N. Security Council by their single vote against the resolution. The U.N. Charter needs to be revised to force a nation named as an aggressor in a resolution to abstain from voting on the said resolution.
The whole organisation is flawed. UN is an entire joke.

The first thing the u.n. needs to do is vote to remove Russia from the security council.

You want to be extremely cautious and careful and strategic in moments and situations like these because there are a lot of dynamics and factors at play and you do not want to make the wrong moves and inflame the wrong people or nations like China or the South American countries who have pledged support of Russias decision or global conflict could break out and WW3 is a very real possibility if things continue to escalate and then snowball into something irreversible.

The moment Nato troops were removed from Afghanistan it became clear that they will start a new war. NATO never took UN's permission for Yugoslavia, Syria, Iraq . Putin played the cards very well and took what he always said he will do and had always said please don't do that and let's talk according to Minsk agreement

So Russia as a Permanent Member of UN seems to fail to adhere to the United Nations Charter. Furthermore ICC and ICJ cannot have a trial in war crime of those who have violated such crime cannot be a trail in their absent. There is no power of enforcement as that is not available unless a country voluntarily permit access. So where does Compensation of Damage to Victims of War Crimes. Estimate of infrastructure damage is said to be $63 billion; not including Ukraine GDP and other loses.
So how is the UN to deal with this issue?
