    My mom applied for the ferry job went through all the hoops and loops and even had to get a twic card just to never hear back from them. All that wasted money she spent running around and paying for the required cards she needed to work on the ferries just for them to never call back. If they need people so bad then maybe they should hire the people that meet their requirements that apply for the job.

    Washington Ferries used to be the biggest and best in the America.
    When I was a student at UW in the 70's, I had an internship on Bainbridge Island. I took the ferries many times. It was always a joy to catch a ferry to and from Seattle over to the island. I had a Metro Bus Schedule, Ferry Schedule, and Work Schedule that had to be synchronized. Back then, late or out of service ferries was almost unheard of.
    Hope they can turn things around. Both residents and tourists deserve better.

    This is all on Insley and half his family that are running the Washington State ferry system. I don't think these people have any idea nor even care of what they're doing to people that depend on the ferries. I've lost three clients. I'm making half the money I used to. And I am starting to become very sick due to the stress I have osteoarthritis in my spine and last Tuesday I got in line at 5:05 I got home at 8:15. So again no dinner. I could go on for days with the abuse. How do these people go to bed and sleep at night????

    I'm going to be using the ferries alot less. My relatives from California were visiting on a cold grey early October weekend, a weekend that you wouldn't expect to be super crowded. We drove onto the Ferry and road it to Bainbridge island, I'm glad we had the car it gave us the freedom to visit more than just the main tourist street. The $30 toll to take the car to the island was bad enough but when they wanted another $20 to $30 to get back to Seattle I was like what the hell I'm not going to pay $50-$60/almost 10X the toll I'd pay to drive accross a bridge. They claimed ferry fees have always worked this way but I've lived hear since 2014 and I'd swear I've taken the ferry both ways before and it never cost $50-$60. This was after we had waited almost 1 hour in line not sure if we'd have to wait for the next ferry. Between the hour wait and the almost 2 hour drive home our evening was runined which really pissed me off because this relative who I hadn't seen in years was only visiting for 2 days and we needed our damm evening. If taking the ferry is going to be such a long expensive chore I'm going to do alot less of it and think twice about taking another visitor on the ferry. I don't know how the locals who live on the island afford the monetary and time cost of the ferry.

    Since there is no information available at all about the Fauntleroy Vashon Southworth triangle I thought I'd let you all know that it is over 40 minutes behind schedule. There were many cars left behind at the Southworth. You may prefer to drive around. My clients been standing at the door for over 30 minutes already

    It's a shame the ferries are having so many issues. I've ridden the ferries since I was a child. These days all the ferries, including the foot ferries, are having so many delays and issues. It wasn't like that when I was younger.

    • @Weathernerd27
      @Weathernerd27 Год назад +1

      Its not only the delays my boss tried to take a fold up electric scooter on the ferry and they wouldn't let him. They claimed they only had room for 8 scooters but these scooters are so small when folded up you can put the scooter in you're lap or next to you're feet. He needed the scooter because the jobsite was over a mile from the ferry terminal, walking would take too long and catching a bus would be expensive/take almost as long as walking. He also wished they had more salilings because sometimes he missed the ferry by a few minutes and didn't want to wait another hour. He also was frustrated that they limited passengers capacity and required masks long after everyone was vaccinated and everyone else had dropped these requirements. He felt that if you wanted to wear a mask more power to you but it was a personal choice you shouldn't be forced to wear a mask.

    Consider that CenturyLink aka Lumen Field cost $740 million. A ferry cost $150 million. Washington State knew when these vessels were to be taken out of service. So when and where are some of those profits from Lumen Field and other such (semi-)public projects going to provide returns to Washington State residents by help paying for eventual replacement the fleet of 21 vessels?
