Your channel randomly got recommended to me. I don't own a tortoise, nor I don't think I ever will. But at least I know how how to properly prepare the diet for tortoises! Consider me subscribed!

I think you are doing a great job setting out this information. I'm having a problem identifying my tortoises. I can see the red food, yellow food but I have 2 others that I really do not know with type they are. I googled but stil can't find out. Do you know a source with more type pictures?

Great overview! Given all they eat, how smelly are the Mediterranean tortoises? (I.e., when they defecate). I may be getting Hermann's who will be housed indoors most of the year, so am wondering how much smell I may have to deal with. Thanks!

In my experience, they don't really smell. Unless you don't clean regularly (once a month).

For the heat lamp and heat mat bit, why are heat mats not recommended? For my tortoise, we have brought both a heat lamp and a heat mat for it but mainly because we have an extremely cold house

Tortoises naturally bask under the sun, while lizards will absorb heat from warm rocks. Since tortoises don't have the same sensitivity as lizards, they may burn themselves or overheat with heat mats and not realize it. Since your house is colder, I recommend getting two heat lamps to increase and maintain a good temperature. A good thermostat is essential to keep the temperatures in check. I hope this helps!

@@TheGreatPetShop Thank you! We’ve always used a heat mat since I got my tortoise and I had no idea he might have been overheating. I’ll look into getting another heat lamp ❤️

Hi I’m from the UK and looking for turnip greens not sure if they have another name here? Is there anything else I can use as making my 3 month old spur thigh a nice food plan she’s loving lambs lettuce right now with some dried flower mix 🌸 🍃

Lamb's Lettuce with a dried flower mix is perfect as a staple diet. But ofc try and vary the food that you offer. I recommend growing your own weeds and plants. Here's a link with tortoise safe foods: www.thetortoisetable.org.uk
Hope this helps and keep up the good work!
