@@kuroto7773 jiu jitsu is originally from medieval Japan and was created by the samurai. Many other Japanese martial arts stem from jiu jitsu. These include aikido and also Judo which was created around the 1950s. BJJ was created by the Gracie’s after they went to Japan and learnt judo from sensei maeda and they then went back to brazil and modified what they learnt from judo and then really adapted it to a ground based system only and called it Gracie jiu jitsu which then became know and Brazilian jiu jitsu. The original Japanese jiu jitsu involves both take downs and ground work along with arm locks, wrist lock, head locks, throws from standing and also on the ground. It also involves weapons work including the traditional Japanese based weapons such as the katana, Bo, jo, tanto etc.
Agree but Jujitsu from medieval Japan was from multiple schools and clans with each ones had their own techniques. There was not a universal school for Jujitsu back then. Judo took techniques from several schools. Today, most western dojos branded as Japanese/traditional jujitsu are a bunch judo throws combine with strikes and joint locks. I noticed most of his fighting styles are subjugation or grappling. Does this hint he may have some formal training like in law enforcement or military background to an extent?
I would say its only a combination of sambo and aikijiujitsu, first because we saw at the Ruska Roma kids dressed as sambist, and i think thats a hint onto John's past, and then Aikijujitsu because those are the more distinguishable movementes aside from sambo, and of course since it is a theory he is a former marine i would not discard the idea of him being well fojnded on MCMAP or a military self defense system.

A lot of this stuff is also Karate. Also, I don't know why anyone would study Aikido if one also knew Aikijujutsu. If you know Aikijujutsu, Aikido is redundant. And Ninjutsu is not a martial art, it's technically "stealth and intelligence gathering," not a fighting style.
People who say aikido is unrealistic. John Wick proves the otherwise. Aikido is a martial art that must be practiced in the heat of battle. Aikido is ineffective against someone who is on guard. But in a fight to the death, with guns and knives. When the opponent is out of breath, when he is afraid of dying, when he is stressed, then we can use aikido.
