What I like about Key's take on retro is that you can recognize the source but he makes it sound modern.

SHINee's "Dream Girl" came out in 2013. The song is called "Dream Girl" so the whole MV is a dream sequence. That is why the set looks like the room has been tipped on its side. It's also why the one set has the floor behind them and it looks like they are dancing on the walls. That's why you see the video glitches and why they are jumping and falling from the ceilings and walls and why you see Onew roll down the wall, etc.
Their outfits are mismatched patterns and styles -- and Taemin's pants look like two No. 2 pencils (pink eraser, green metal band and yellow pencil) -- because it's a dream and not everything has to make sense in a dream. (This was another of SHINee's very iconic looks, and it's one of the things that makes SHINee, SHINee.)
You can't see the girl's face because she is a "dream girl." It doesn't matter what she looks like because Shawols are SHINee's dream girls. (Shawols are supposed to imagine ourselves as the "dream girl" SHINee is talking about.) So the girl represents all their fans. And the fact that her face is covered with flowers represents how their dream girl is as beautiful as flowers, etc.
That is why all the scenes are the way they are because it's a dream so anything can happen.
Rolling on the ground/rolling up the wall, etc. is short of Onew's signature go to comedic move. You will often see him doing log rolls and somersaults when he is trying to be funny. Like when you see him roll down the stairs during their live "Like A Fire" performance at their SHINee World Concert III in Seoul. However, Onew is also known for being super clumsy and he often trips over his own feet and falls, etc. It's such a common occurrence that fans have nicknamed it "Onew condition."
You definitely need to check out their dance practice video for "Dream Girl," ruclips.net/video/EsfiOO4AVdg/видео.html.
The mic stand choreography is legendary and, like SHINee, it was so unique for its time and unlike anything anyone had done up until then. Just another example of what makes SHINee pure greatness and why they are considered one of the best when it comes to their vocals and dancing. :D
There is even an iconic moment in one of their MCountdown comeback stages for "Dream Girl" where Minho's mic stand breaks in the middle of the dance and the way they all improvised and kept on dancing just shows how skilled and professional they are. Check out an episode of the variety show Beatles Code 2 where they talk about it. I love this episode of the show because it has so many iconic SHINee moments. I think you will enjoy watching it. Part 1: ruclips.net/video/8RmY4_kFDes/видео.html and Part 2: ruclips.net/video/vdhyeOz9Yj8/видео.html (Just so you know, the other guests on the show are members of the iconic first generation boy group G.O.D. and Shindong, one of the members of Super Junior, is one of the hosts of the show. The concept of this variety show is The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" theme. So that is why the hosts are dressed the way they are, they are supposed to look like the members of The Beatles.)
The mic stands have been specially made to be lighter and stronger than a regular mic stand, and if you watch the show I suggested above, you will get to see them up close, etc. However, the SHINee members still had to train a lot with them to be able to pull off these impressive moves.

Dream Girl is a favorite of mine, I love the music (Makes me wanna dance) and their vocals are top tier, SHINee's vocals always top tier though. They have five power house vocalists lol. Key's new 'Killer' is amazing. He always brings it.

I hear the sound of bands like a-ha or alphaville and the sound characteristic of most of the 80s. It probably won't tell you anything, but Captain Nemo sounded like that in Poland too, if someone was a fan of knight rider, they know this specific sound
    .
    KEY is a retro gem
brings back childhood memories, brings me to tears 😭

I hope you can also react to Heartless and Easy the two b-sides of Killer, if you liked Killer these will also love them, these three songs since yesterday are my holy trinity and I am obsessed with Killer and with the order of the 14 songs, definitely without jumps again. Now just waiting for their presentations in the musical programs to see the scenery and obvious the complete choreo.

Everything you see and hear with "Killer" has Key's signature stamp on it. It's his title track from his repackaged album, which is a follow up to his previous "Gasoline" MV and album. From his outfits to the backup dancers looks, to the set design and story concept, as well as the song lyrics, and the whole album -- including the album packaging -- was designed by him. He is involved in the entire creative process when it comes to his solo work and everything you see and hear is what he envisioned for this entire album/repackage concept. Every aspect is all part of his design.
Key said his style is more like retro '80s/'90s MTV, so that's the treatment they used to come up with his solo concepts and styles. So far, the retro aesthetic is the look and feel he has had for all of his solo MVs and albums. And he has only dove in deeper with the retro concept after he came back from the military. Since gaining artistic control of his solo releases with his "Bad Love" album, he has been building a whole world based on retro sci-fi TV shows/movies and comics, etc.
When it comes to his solo stuff, you never have to question who was the stylist because I guarantee that it will always be him. He has gained a reputation for his fashion, so he is involved in all aspects of the styling for everything he does these days. He would never just passively stand by and allowed someone else to tell him what to wear. And because Key was involved in creating the storyline for his MV, he was also involved in the whole aesthetic, including clothing and costume choices.

Key has done it again, great song, great vibe, "Killer" vocals, styling and visuals. Gasoline was such an "in your face" hype song and this is so retro, yet feels modern. I love them both equally. Other comments explained Dream Girl better than I can so I want to give more proof that SHINee doesn't age. If time permits, you should check this video ruclips.net/video/SYvVCVLQOck/видео.html. It's Onew doing a duet at SMTown last fall and he's pretty much 4th Gen here.
