Love to find a new reactor to one of my all-time favorite musical groups!! The birth of a Pentaholic is a wonderful thing and I love sharing the excitement and wonder and appreciation of these five alien unicorn beings! Enjoy the rabbit hole because these guys can do no wrong. I suggest going and browsing their catalogue and try to find a song that you didn't like the original of and listen to their rendition and see if it doesn't make you at least see the song in a better light. These guys don't do covers, they do upgrades!!
As others have said, there has been only one change in the line-up over the years. Matt Sallee, here in the white jacket, took over duties as the bass singer in 2017. Kirstie and Mitch tend to change their looks a lot, but it’s always them. Check out their medley of Daft Punk songs (for which they won their first Grammy) for something with a completely different vibe, their cover of Amazing Grace for a bit of a spiritual uplift, and maybe their ‘90s Dance Medley for a jolly good walk down memory lane. Their cover of Kiss From a Rose (live VEVO video please) is a recent example of where they are now. Loved your reaction! Peace …
Simon & Garfunkel The Sound of Silence was originally released in October 1964. This is a cover, but they do also have quite a collection of originals.
Simon and Garfunkel: Please listen Disturbed: We're telling you you better listen PTX: we told you you should listen 3 totally different feels for such a great song
Keep reacting to them - they have hooked us all. Next, you really MUST SOON listen to their official: Daft Punk, The Prayer, Amazing Grace, Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Kiss From a Rose and more.
There is one change in lineup from the group you saw in Hallelujah. The 2nd soloist in Hallelujah, Avi Kaplan, left the group amicably in 2017 for various reasons. He was replaced by Matt Sallee, the 3rd soloist in Sound of Silence. All of the other people in the two videos are the same - but Mitch and Kirstin, the 2nd and 4th soloists here, are true chameleons who change their looks from one video to the next - in Hallelujah, Kirstin was blonde and Mitch had extremely short hair, here Kirstin has black hair and Mitch has a mullet! But other than Matt for Avi, all of the other members have remained the same since they first came together in 2011.
When you start checking out their Christmas list, get ready to be TOTALLY blown away. They have a positively astounding version of "Carol of the Bells' (sung in English madrigal style), but they also do "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" in a way that if you DON'T want to get up and tap your toes, you're already dead and just don't know it yet. Regarding change of personnel ... The guy in the white jacket (left, sings bass) is Matt, who replaced Avi (tall, dark beard) in 2017 when Avi had family issues that he could not ignore. Avi left amicably AFTER he helped them find Matt to take his place. Everyone else is the same, but... Kirsten changes her look between blonde and dark hair. Mitch (high voice) also experiments with his look. But Kirstie and Match are original members.
Welcome to PTX family. Only 5 musically gifted aliens blowing us away with their talents. What is even more crazy is that their live performances are just as good or even better than their studio performance. Yes i witness their greatness in concert last year. Check out next their live Vevo performance of Kiss from a rose. Prepare to be blown away 🤯.
They have quite a few originals too - they never disappoint. Mitch, with the high voice, and Kirstin, often change their hair color and style, but they are core members.
Welcome to the rabbit hole! Only 1 change. Avi Kaplin left the group in 2017 because of family and personally issues. Matt Sallee replaced him at the end of 2017 as the bass.
They can do classic rock, rap, gospel, pop, country, soul.... You name it, they do it! You're gonna have a blast and us Pentaholics are devoted like none other....
There were no “personally issues”- He left for one reason and only one reason, he wanted to spend time with his family. Pentatonix averages 80 concerts a year, still today all over the world. He couldn’t commit to their next world tour.
All five of them are just as nice as you saw on the outro. I’ve been to three of their shows, and they’re BETTER live. I’ll subscribe for more PTX, you should check out the songs for which they won their Grammys.
Nice to see you back with another PTX!! They never fail to amaze us with their talents. There only one different person in the group. Avi ( the guy with the beanie and long hair from Hallelujah) left amicably in 2017 and Matt Sallee joined a few months later...and has been with them ever since. He's been a wonderful addition with his strong vocals and huge range. Some suggestions: Mad World, Bohemian Rhapsody, Mad World, New Rules/Am I That Somebody, Say Something, Shallow, Perfect, Radioactive, Attention, When The Party's Over Daft Punk medley. They do have originals as well: Sing, Coffee In Bed, Love Me When I Don't, Happy Now, Be My Eyes, The Lucky Ones, Run To You, Love Again.
Kirsten and Mitch change up their looks quite often, so you might not recognise them until you become more familiar with the group. As others have explained, Matt (in the white jacket) replaced Avi (the bass from Hallelujah) in 2017. I'd like to suggest their covers of John Lennon's 'Imagine (with Avi) and Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody (also with Avi)
They have 7 christmas albums. Matt was a perfect fit literally to this band. He used to mow the lawn listening to ptx and trying to figure out how he could be the 6th member. He dreamed the literal impossible dream and God made it come true. His father was a youth pastor so hes been singing since he was 3. As Scott says everytime he steps on that stage it is proof that dreams come true. He is also ball of sunshine and joy. I hope you get this comment since this is an older video. I love your reactions and was binging them but I should be winding down so Ill binge more tomorrow. And tell you kevins story too. I have two recomendations. The live version of hallelujah which is on their ptxofficial you tube page bc not only does matt change the end of his solo in the best way, but you can see the other members are just as passionate about it now as they were then. The other is the mash up of Aliahs "Are you that somebody" (which timbaland used machines to produce the drums and the bass) and Dua lipas "New Rules". Story behind it is Kevin was mashing them up in his dressinv room on tour and Scott walked by and heard it and asked if the band could use it. Its off the charts with Kevin and Matt. They didn't need machines. Lol Hope you dont mind the long comment. Oh Mitchs voices is perfect and the rest of the band totally agree.
Hello from Tennessee. Great reactions. "Mary did you know" was my first song I heard . The rabbit hole is deep but we Pentaholic's are right there with ya. Now, gotta go plant my onions
Maybe react to Imagine or The Prayer or Kiss From A Rose. Their catalog is huge and they amaze with their range of genres It looked like you really enjoyed this song ❤❤❤❤❤
Kevin, sings tenor, plays cello, beatboxing all percussion. Avi their bass left & was replaced by Matt. Kirsty (pronounced kursty) is the alto suprano. Mitch is the tenor contralto.😊
Pentaholics be real with our favorite A Capella group LOL. On the far left in the white jacket is the bass that replaced Avi when he had to leave the group in 2017, Matt Sallee. All the others are the same. Scott sang 1st, then Mitch Grassi, Then Matt Sallee, Then Kirstie (like thirsty) or Kirstin, And the wizard Kevin doing the beats. The only change ever in the group was Matt coming in 2017.
Welcome to PTX. The Pentaholics will increase your channel, views and comments. Have you noticed that often there are 4 verses with 4 different leads? Each member gets to show their own talent. Kevin is primarily the beatboxer, human instrument that can play the Cello while Beatboxing, and sometimes will sing his own part. Their "Evolution of Michael Jackson" Kevin sings. Kevin sings in "Mary Did You Know?"/"The Prayer"/ "I Just Called to Say I Love you" and "Imagine" and special surprise moments in a few songs. They have over 300 songs and each member have their own side projects and family. You will get hundreds of suggestions and we don't expect you to respond to every comment. Early Pentatonix include "Sing" with their name in the ending credits. Kevin's arraignment of "O Come All Ye Faithfull" will change your mind about the original. "That's Chistmas To Me" has baby Pentatonix's with 2 videoes as kids. Kirstie (rhymes with Thirsty) original include "Be My Eyes"/"Please Santa, Please" and "Love Me When I Don't" It is a large rabbit hole but the Pentaholics will guide you through the copyright process and ALWAYS positive comments. There is NO negativity allowed. Pentatonix was created based on positivity and uplifting spirits through music. Kevin is always smiling. That includes social media like when he ask, "How do you tell you are a dad without saying it" and he pushes his daughter in a baby carriage. Matt's baby girl is on her way. They are all over social media and Scott keeps them going. You may see them sing the National Anthem before the NFL CA Western Game the game before the Superbowl, or participate in PBS Forth of July special and "The Mask Singer" as the California Raisin They are everywhere... Enjoy the experience.
I recommend that you do reaction videos to several Pentatonix songs: Bohemian Rhapsody (cover of Queen’s song) Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) Pentatonix has released at least 7 Christmas albums. You should look for “Mary, Did You Know.”
Pentatonix won the 2011 "The Sing Off" show. You should go back and listen to them. That is on RUclips. Scott, Kirsty and Mitch were only 19 at the time. Avi, the original bass, left the group in 2017 on amicable terms. Matt joined the group at that point. Kirsty and Mitch really like to change their appearance so they may not be recognizable to you. You can't go wrong with any of their music. For something fun, watch "The Wizard of Ahhhs, with Todrick Hall.
Welcome to what we call the PTX rabbit hole. Sound of Silence isn't a Christmas song. It was originally by Simon and Garfunkle. The only new member is Matt (the bass). Mitch (the guy with the "high voice") changes his look a lot.
I really enjoyed your review and your vibe. Kevin Olusala is a musical genius and probably just a genius in general. He is also a world-class cellist, graduated with honors pre-med from Yale and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. Not to mention the most humble person who is really enjoying himself with Pentatonix.
Other great songs by them are Royals, Imagine, Mad World, Can You Feel the Love Tonight and their Christmas songs like O Holy Night, Santa Please, Little Drummer Boy, Pure Imagination/Christmas Time is Here and so many more.
You may want to check out "Kiss From A Rose," preferably the live Vevo recording, which has Kevin playing the cello, beatboxing, and singing. Also, their most recent recording of "O Holy Night," where Matt gets a chance to show off his incredible range. Be sure to get the version that was published in 2023, NOT the one they published in 2012.
Yes, there was a change of members. The third soloist with the incredibly deep voice replaced Avi Kaplan as the PTX base. His name is Matt Sallee. When Matt has a solo, the first soloist, Scott Hoying (tall blonde) covers the bass parts. Other members are Mitch Grassi, the guy with the higher pitched crystal clear voice. The only female singer is Kirsten Moldanado. She, Kevin and Mitch went to high school together. The beatboxer is Kevin Olusula. He not only beatboxes, but he is a classicaly trained cellist, plays saxophone, is said to have perfect pitch, and gave up Med school at Yale University to pursue a career with Pentatonix. Oh, and he beatboxes and plays the cello at the same time. There is a RUclips video of him doing that. To say he is talented is an understatement. Enjoy going down the PTX rabbit hole. I subscribed for more PTX reactions. My suggestion is to react to their cover of Daft Punk. They won their first Grammy for that. Thank you for a great reaction. Loved it!
@@OLDMANHUDA. Just one change in the lineup. The tall bearded guy from the prior video (their first bass, Avi Kaplan) left in 2017, his replacement is Matt Sallee (guy in the white jacket in this video). Everyone else is the same people, just Mitch and Kirstie vary their looks a lot. Mitch started out looking like a nerdy tech guy in their early years, now he’s very much his own style with oversized suits in loud colors and a very big mustache.
@@kathycarias1271you are correct. On rare occasions I call Scott, Kevin and vice versa. Not sure why. I have gone into such a deep dive into them that you would think I would not mix up anything about them, but I am imperfect of course. Thank you for the correction.
A combo with 6 burgers ….. I am stealing that phrase for sure! 😂 I am catching up on your PTX reactions so I wont go into to the story of now we have Matt singing base. I loved Avi but he left and now we have Matt, have had Matt since 2017 so why we are all still refer to him as the “new guy” is kinda strange, I guess it is because we watch these reactions is some sort of time warp or something? Change has been hard for some but I have loved Matt from the jump, as you said, he has a powerful voice which I think is kinda a requirement in this group? Thanks for the reaction! T ✌🏻
hello from Oklahoma Avi the base singer broke to a solo career he is amazing check him out pentatomic are amazing together but each could easy have solo careers easy a talent beyond belief Kevin does his bpop wonderfully you feel the boom hit you like a drum thanks for your insight on this group looking for more from you
They are the same people. Mitch and Kirstie are like human chameleons because they love to change their looks up a lot. But although he's not new now, Matt is now the bass of the group instead of Avi. That's the only real change that was made to the group after Avi left in 2017.
Just subbed for more PTX reactions… try New Rules/Are you that somebody mashup, Michael Jackson medley, Can’t Hold Us, 90s Dance Medley, Mad World and for a couple of originals Coffee in Bed (insane beatboxing), Sing and Love Again…
Only one change. The original bass, Avi, left for personal reasons and Kevin came in. The others are still the same. Kirstin and Mitch change their appearances quite frequently which leads people to believe they are new members.
"Sound of Silence" was originally sung by Simon and Garfunkel, an American folk rock duo in the 1960s. It was written by Paul Simon, and they first released it in January, 1966. We believe it depicts the aftermath of a nuclear war, though it could also be about global warming, which was just becoming a major concern in the 1960s. In the nearly 60 years since its first performance, "Sound of Silence" has been covered by numerous bands and singers, most notably including Disturbed and #Pentatonix. You may want to check out Disturbed's version. I recognize Disturbed's artistry, but I'm not fond of their take on "Sound of Silence," which seems to me to be cynical and egotistical. Disturbed came out with their version first, so it seems that Pentatonix may have meant this as a respose to Disturbed. The best version comparison I've heard goes like this: Simon and Garfunkel warned us. Disturbed is angry that we didn't heed the warning. And Pentatonix says that it isn't too late - we can still save the planet if we're willing to make the effort. Is Pentatonix right? I don't know. But I'm CERTAIN that if we just give up we lose, so I'm with Pentatonix on this one. If they're wrong and it's already too late, at least we'll go down fighting for our planet, and that beats the heck out of the only other option I see, writing an angry suicide note.
I fear that RUclips may take this reaction down for copyright infringement. Pentatonix loves RUclips reactions and reactors; they're well aware that reaction videos have helped to make them the success that they are today. Unfortunately, their copyrights are owned by their publisher, RCA, and RCA doesn't share their love of reaction videos. RCA is notorious for making copyright claims that get reaction videos taken down. The claims all seem to be about the video, not the music, and there are several strategies people use to keep their reactions up. Some people only react to live performances. This works, but it's limiting. In general, Pentatonix is as good live as they are in their official releases, but that's musically; there are a few of their official videos that have important video effects that can't be duplicated live. The most obvious one is "Imagine," but several others spring to mind. Also, if you only react to live performances you can't react to any "Behind the Scenes" or "Making of" videos. Another strategy is to pause the video frequently. This is probably a good idea (be sure to rewind a bit whenever you do this), but the definition of "frequent" is subjective so I don't recommend it as your only protection. What seems to work best is to slightly mask the video, combined with frequent pauses. Some people put a translucent "PENTATONIX" or "COPYRIGHT" over the video; others put what appears to be a window with raindrops on it over the video. Remember, the pentaholics are here to see your reaction, not the video - we've seen the video numerous times already. We only need to be able to see enough of it to be sure what exactly you're reacting to, in real time.
Subbing for more PTX!!! My suggestions would be: O Holy Night, Amazing Grace, Love Me When I Don’t (ptx original), La La Latch, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Coffee In Bed (ptx original), Daft Punk (you gotta see the official video & the private live version of them in a room with no mics & it was recorded on someone’s phone), That’s Christmas To Me (ptx original), Rather Be, Havana and Mary Did You Know. You can’t go wrong with any song of their’s that you choose. And I can see by the look on your face that you are already becoming a Pentaholic 😁
Sound of Silence is a cover from Simon & Garfunkel. You will notice that Avi left the group in 2017 and was replaced by Matt Sallee. Matt is the only replacement. All the others are original…just getting older.
Great reaction. I know you're getting flooded with suggestions. But, check out Sing. It's fun, upbeat, just a blast. It has a lot of fans and celebrities in it and when they say cut at the end, don't stop. It goes on.
The members are all the same except for the bass position. Avi left in 2017 and Matt (white jacket) took over. Mitch and Kirstin change their looks a lot but it’s always them. Kudos for learning their names, but it’s not KRIstin; it’s KIRstin (or Kirstie rhymes with thirsty). Her name is always the last one people get right. 😆 Recommend their version of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Lol Not Kristen, but Kirsten, or Kirstie. They've only ever changed 1 Person. In the beginning it was Avi with the beard, and now its Mat. Kirstie, the beautiful female singer, and mich, the shorter guy, you may think are new but nope. They both change their appearance a lot with styles, clothes, and hair colors. I'm sure you'd love, Kissed by a rose, Amazing grace. Say something, Seasons of love, just to name a few.
Only the bass. Avi left the group for personal reasons on good terms and was replaced by Matt. Kirsty (sadly) had some work done. Thankfully, if anything she's better than ever. You need to see....so many songs, but of late their stint in the masked singer gives a different perspective of their incredible talent .
I think you would enjoy their version of KISS FROM A ROSE.
I second that recommendation! 👍
I third that recommendation
I’m 4th
Kevin is a musical genius. This just scratches the surface of what he can do
On this song, Avi left the group. Matt is the new man on bass. Brother with white jacket. Good fit.
I have enjoyed this version repeatedly. I love the way in each verse the word 'sound' is an ever more complex chord. So, beautiful.
Great observation, Gretchen, it’s an incredibly subtle thing to notice so kudos to your attention to detail :)
Love to find a new reactor to one of my all-time favorite musical groups!! The birth of a Pentaholic is a wonderful thing and I love sharing the excitement and wonder and appreciation of these five alien unicorn beings! Their cover of Radioative with Lindsy Stirling was probably one of their best

His Grinch is amazing. He brings the emotion with the song so well!
Give a listen to their live VEVO studio cover of Seal’s Kiss From A Rose. It will blow your mind!
This was the first released video with Matt Sallee when he took over for Avi Kaplan.
Simon & Garfunkel The Sound of Silence was originally released in October 1964. This is a cover, but they do also have quite a collection of originals.
Simon and Garfunkel: Please listen
Disturbed: We're telling you you better listen

I recommend that you do reaction videos to several Pentatonix songs:
Bohemian Rhapsody (cover of Queen’s song)
Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)

Welcome to what we call the PTX rabbit hole. Sound of Silence isn't a Christmas song. It was originally by Simon and Garfunkle. The only new member is Matt (the bass). Mitch (the guy with the "high voice") changes his look a lot.
This is a rendition of Simon & Garfunkel song.
Kevin beatboxes, plays cello and is a beautiful tenor.
AND he is a medical doctor (don't remember the degree tho).
I think YALE if I'm not mistaken @@occamsrazor5376
Other great songs by them are Royals, Imagine, Mad World, Can You Feel the Love Tonight and their Christmas songs like O Holy Night, Santa Please, Little Drummer Boy, Pure Imagination/Christmas Time is Here and so many more.
They are incredible
Awesome Reaction - Thanks so much!!
No problem!! Thank you for watching
Thank you for this. Check the remarks about Avi and Matt. The ONLY change since they started. From a Pentaholic. Greetings from South Africa
To hear something original that Kevin and Avi wrote listen to "Run to You" They do it in 5 part harmony, no beatboxing just 5 great voices...
Avi left the group & Matt is the bass now. They are all awesome!!
Always here for #PTX!
Please start reacting to their Christmas music.
Another great reaction!
Thank you.. I will have more Pentatonix coming very soon
Loved it!
It was Kirstie, Mitch and Scott, not Kevin, who went to school together.
Ok.. I knew they weren't all looking the same.. but they were replaced with great singers
@@jdb4519 No worries. It happens. Just wanted Huda to have the correct info. Feel free to correct me anytime I make a mistake, too!
hello from Oklahoma Avi the base singer broke to a solo career he is amazing check him out pentatomic are amazing together but each could easy have solo careers easy a talent beyond belief Kevin does his bpop wonderfully you feel the boom hit you like a drum thanks for your insight on this group looking for more from you
It's the same people except avi left and was replaced by Matt. They are my favorite group EVER
Avi the original bass left the group in 2017. That same year Matt joined them he is the only change.
⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡⚡
They are the same people. Mitch and Kirstie are like human chameleons because they love to change their looks up a lot. But although he's not new now, Matt is now the bass of the group instead of Avi. That's the only real change that was made to the group after Avi left in 2017.
Scott, Mitch and Kirstie all went to HS together.
There the same except for guy in the white jacket he is the youngest member his name is Matt he replaced Avi with the beard
Don’t forget their originals

Gotta listen to Home Free
Not KRIstin, KIRstin. That's why I also mentioned that her nickname is Kirstie, and Kirstie rhymes with thirsty.
I don't see it on this list, but have you reacted to Imagine? Very good video.
Matt Salee is the new bass, inthe white jacket. He replaced Avi Kaplan.
Kirsty sounds great. All the same people.
Matt was the only new member since Avi Kaplan left. The rest are all originals.
Kirsty sounds like Thirsty.
Everyone is the same except now Matt for Avi. Mitch looks different in every video lol and Kirstie changes her hair color all the time
I fear that RUclips may take this reaction down for copyright infringement.
And it’s ok to listen to the actual Christmas songs year round as well, cause us Pentaholics sure do
All original group except Matt is new bass.
It goes on.
Im on it.. thank you for watching!!
Recommend their version of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Have you reacted to Jolene? They sing that song with Dolly Parton.
A second thought. I know you're an older guy like me. Look for the Beatles reference in Sing.
And you'll love The Wizard of Ahhhs
Avi is no longer with the group. He was replaced by Matt, guy in the white jacket. He had big shoes to fill and has done just that
Only the bass. Avi left the group for personal reasons on good terms and was replaced by Matt. Kirsty (sadly) had some work done. Thankfully, if anything she's better than ever. You need to see....so many songs, but of late their stint in the masked singer gives a different perspective of their incredible talent .
try
dimash best voice in the world 8 octaves and 14 languages
Wrong...only one member has been replaced in 12+ years.
