I love these kinds of reviews. They're how I first discovered your stream, as it happens, and even if the vod has mistakes I'm no longer making, it's still great to have reminders on them.
What’s really insightful here is realizing how fast very experienced PVPers can process all of the information that is presented. I am not new to gw2 but I very often get target fixated and don’t notice all of the details around me. Thanks for doing this! It’s a great resource.
Hey Jp! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I didn't even cover cooldown tracking in this because the student wasn't really 1v1ing much. But maybe I'll cover a different pvp role in the next coaching video so I can go over different skills. Thanks for the support :D
every new player does that. 100% of your brainpower is just thinking about pressing the right buttons and hitting your target. You can't really be a highly aware playmaker until you get your technical skill to the level where you can do it unconsciously which takes years of practice.
I'm new to PvP and although I don't play ranger (though I have to fight them^^) your remarks on strategy, tactics and especially positioning are very informative to me. It's also pleasant listening to you and I found your discussion comfortable to follow.
Or even one aimed at newer folks. As a new player myself I can tell you it is tough to break into pvp, in part because the match ups often have people of widely varied skill and rank, so I often just get deleted or can myself delete members of the opposing team, without learning too much from the encounter.
@@Shadowfall_TV one of my favorite parts is the way you point out mistakes: you help me reflect on how I myself make mistakes, and you help me recognize those mistakes in my opponents. Thanks for making such quality content!
Really loved this. Would love more content like this when you’re able/have submissions. Even though this probably won’t keep many people for the full runtime 😩 GREAT, valuable info to people learning to climb.
Hey Vadmori! Longbow is better against mobile ranged classes because the range can follow them through their movement better. Hammer is better if you want to contest strong melee builds or builds with a low amount of/long cooldown stunbreaks. Hope that helps! Thanks for the support :D
this is giving me a headache! im probably never going to get good at this game.... how am i supposed to learn all 32 elite skills and what builds people are playing and how to counter them?
Hey Michael! I hope you enjoyed the video! Spending a little bit of time on each of the meta pvp specs for each class will help a lot. Thanks for the support :D
@@Shadowfall_TV i have played them all, but i forget each class everytime i change 🤣 my dementia brain! Ill stick to watching YOU kicking asses instead
Hey Ghost! Some games will be unwinnable but your focus should be to continue improving your own gameplay as much as possible. The better you get, the higher your winrate will be and that is how you'll climb. Be as consistent as possible and continue fixing 1-2 mistakes at a time and try and repeat 1-2 good things you did prior. Hope that helps! Thanks for the support :)
@@Shadowfall_TV Thanks! I've been playing since beta, but don't really climb, probably because I like to swap professions and roles haha :) I'll try to take your advice and focus on my own mistakes more
It took me 150 unranked games of thief and at least 50 hours running around open world or world bosses etc to be able to play thief at a Gold 3 level. Learning all these classes and elite specs is gonna be rough.
So I am definitely a salty ele because is this seriously all it takes to be plat on a ranger? Mad respect to whoever shared their game. I guess not all the respect as I'm being that asshole with my comment.
It was interesting I think the only constructive criticism I would have, which unfortunately would make these more work to do, is that the rewinding and playing over and over feels like it really draws out the videos and you provide great information but sometimes it feels like you could be more concise. When someone continues to make the same mistake it might be beneficial to just label the big mistakes in the beginning (A, B, C, D, etc) then after you point them out the first time you can just put the corresponding letter on the screen in post when they do it again. Great information and the work is appreciated...I think if you watch through it once, make notes with time stamps the first time, then just go back through as you edit and talk over it then you'll get a video that flows a lot better and doesn't lose any information while still being in a smaller palatable format. Great work, though, appreciate your videos.

@@Shadowfall_TV +1 to this, would love to see a coaching video for 1 of each class with this kind of comprehensive commentary.

I see a lot of mistakes I'm making on my ranger, thanks for the insight :)

How do u know when u have to pick a long bow or an Hammer as untamed ?

Any general tips for climbing in Gold? Some games feel literally unwinnable because of flaming teammates and no other communication.

7 mns in, and u talk about stowing pet skill, can u do that? How? by pressing esc or the stow bind?
Hey Gas! Use the "return to me" keybind to cancel a skill the pet is casting. Hope that helps! Thanks for the support :)
