I run Ls4 mud guards on 3 machines they don't affect the air non so ever and do really good job of keeping mud out at the end of the day nothing gonna block a radiator as much as the mud does even If ur radiator takes on the little bit of mud ur already restricting more then a guard will Mishimoto radiator also helps a ton Glann Innovations makes a nice dual fan setup that does a great job also
i like that MIA valve and you do a good job of explaining . personally i wouldve kept the coolant over flow tank it completes the system . years ago i never had one on my 250r that my dad got from Joe Byrd back in 01 . but back in 2018 when i got it back running i put one on to complete the system . on my yfz450r my buddy set it up like he had his with no oil return can saying they was unneeded . i ran it for a few races and put an RP oil can on to complete the system . to me i like the system being completed even if its not needed . Joel Hetrick runs the radiator over flow and the oil return can on his bikes . if he thinks theyre needed , well then im not going to even bother double guessing . either way ill still have your back
Man, that’s a tough question. I love the 450 but I guess if I was only trail riding, you can’t beat the 400. I’d definitely miss the power of the YFZ but I like tighter more technical trails so the 400 would probably suit me better
Hey Tyler, I had the same problem with mine the last race. On lap 3 it would shut off when I pull the clutch in. After the race and the bike sat enough to cool down, it didnt do it. I am looking in to the manual idle controll but was told after install I need to get the vortex reflash/retuned to it. Did you do that? What's your thoughts?
After install on mine (2020) it idles extremely high and turning the knob does nothing. My 2018 came with one on it and that idles decent still seems little high but again if I turn the knob on that one I don’t notice any change. What is your thoughts?
And with it turned most the way in does it seem really high still? Before putting it in I was having is starting to stall like you said happened to you. But it would only idle high till you blipped the gas then it would drop to normal.
Well that’s why you don’t rush in the garage! I had it slightly offset so the print wasn’t sealing properly def works as it should now! Appreciate the responses man! Most people dgaf
My yfz has this engine code 37 and it won’t start without gas it will only start with a little bit of gas and idk what it could be I have a stock ecu also it’s a 2016 yfz 450r please help…
@@jeremyayers8307 sounds like your IAC valve may be bad, either that or it could be a wiring issue like a short somewhere. You might need a manual idle adjuster like I put on here.

I’ve got the head studs on my 400ex as well! He puts out some pretty good products

Keep up the good work man! If you only had one quad to keep and didn’t race and only rode trails, would you pick the yfz or the good old 400?

I did not reflash/tune mine and I personally never heard anything about doing it. Mine seems to be running the exact same with no issues.

I had to turn mine pretty far in. I believe I’m like a turn and a half or so out from fully closed.

@@Domabeast7 no, mine is set at a good idle. If you turn yours all the way in does it die? It should

Do you get a engine light for installing that manual idle adjuster?
Not that I know of. I didn’t have any issues with mine

@@floridatrailrider305 mine doesn’t have clicks but I believe I’m only like 1-1.5 turns out if I remember right.

Mwxc this weekend?
No, won’t be there. If I do race this weekend I’m gonna go to the national amateur race in Springville, but still undecided on it
