This was the very first ASMR video I watched. I was struggling in 2016 with complex PTSD. I was dealing with daily panic attacks, paranoia, and an eating disorder. I was struggling to find anything to calm me down. This video popped up, and I clicked it looking for some type of relief from the pain I was experiencing. This video helped to ground me, and make me feel comforted. It introduced me to the world of ASMR, which was a huge help for me in 2016. I watch ASMR now, more so for the enjoyment I get out of it, but I can genuinely say, you helped me in one of the darkest times in my life. This is my first time returning to this video since then, and I can see now why it was so helpful for me. You are so calming, reassuring, and beautiful. Thank you for creating such positive content. Started watching them every night before bed and got over the insomnia I'd had for years.
This is mother-infant bonding. A natural motherly instinct during the first year of life. See child psychology and studies about parent-infant attachment. Some people never receive this calming assurance resulting in traumatic or chaotic childhoods. This allows any person to receive this perceived love, assurance and emotional connection without any risk of rejection by either party. If the goal is to help bring peace and wholeness into the hearts of people, this is a wonderful thing.
I agree, the first few years of your life are driven by your Mother. You learn trust, love, and peace and if you are deprived of this either your Mother didn't give it, or was taken from you, it causes permanent emotional damage. It isnt to say if you have a great Mother that you will be fine, but like you said its a vital part of your development. Your Father is equally important (which society has been trying to destroy for awhile now) for other aspects like strength/safety/advice/etc.

Being completely new to ASMR, I was not expecting to feel my body just absolutely relax at some of these sounds. I struggle with severe anxiety that leaves me tense 100% of the time. This helped me so much.
Now, I understand that Ellen is a comedian and her mocking will have a positive effect on the number of views for Maria, but from a purely emotional viewpoint - f*** Ellen for trivializing the effect of help that ASMR has for many people.

Diana Kraemer I don’t get them either. It’s just that you either have them or not. But for the original comment, this was also the first ASMR vid I watched. TOTALLY changed my life!! I remember I was sick and upset and couldn’t sleep so I searched “sleepy videos”. I saw ASMR come up, and it was this video I clicked on. I instantly fell in love with this channel and watched a load of older videos (not SUPER old) like this one and she was the only ASMRist I watched for a while. I fell asleep almost immediately. I wasn’t feeling well today, and was getting tired of the newer ASMR videos I watched recently from others, and wanted to relive old memories. :) this video has a lot of meaning for me and I’m sorry if this was too long but I felt I just had to share.

Thank you for this!!! Just discovered ASMR. I have early onset Parkinsons Disease and have been dealing with sleep issues for years. Tried this out of desperation and it worked! Fell asleep within 5 minutes. Usually takes me an hour or more to fall asleep.

This is amazing; I've always experienced ASMR throughout my life occasionally ever since I was small boy but never knew exactly what it was. I knew that I usually experienced it at times when I felt a particular sense of comfort and/or being cared for but didn't know there was specific triggers. At the age of 41 I have (quite by accident) discovered it is actually a 'thing' and that it can be induced. I have to say Maria that you definitely have the knack and thank you for introducing me to this phenomena.
I'm nine months pregnant and watching this to relax and I think my baby girl likes it just as much as I do, she keeps moving and getting excited when she hears the calm whispering ❤️

im narcoleptic so falling asleep isn't really a problem for me, but because of the disorder, im always anxious and afraid of sleep and what it will bring your videos, and the dedication and genuine care you have, have helped me so much over the past years. i feel safe, relaxed, cared for, and just over all positive energy, and thats so rare to feel at this point. everything you produce is unique and potent and wonderful!! i might not have articulated this too well, but essentially, i just want to thank you for everything you do and making me feel like theres still good out there. happy tingling

As someone who experiences heavy depersonalization and intense feelings of loneliness... I want to just admit that this is the first time I did ASMR and it evoked a whole lot of emotional response and I felt like I wasn't alone, like I was loved and being comforted. I can't comprehend the feeling of satisfaction I experienced. Most people wouldn't admit to it, but it actually made me tear up. I'm an emotional person who craves this sort of attention and feelings of physical comfort and... yeah. Thank you. My surroundings feel ever more real after only 11 minutes of this.
I fell the exact same way. I really love Maria because she's SO caring of EVERYBODY! She's a very loving and caring person and she has made me feel very safe and relaxed and since I myself am going into therapy for college watching a lot of therapy videos like this I feel are going to be very helpful later on. I love these videos so much. They help me unwind, recharge, and relax my mind. How brave is Maria to sit in front of a camera and go through each of these experiences, slowly and up close! Gawd, I would be SO afraid to do this. But she is a professional artist! The first time I had this ASMR sensation, I was in 2nd grade, and it was my library teacher who would speak so calmly and check out books with this smoothness that just sent tingles all over my head and neck. It was like a drug. I loved it.
My first one too! I was sick and wanted to fall asleep so I looked up “sleepy videos”. I found this and watched it, never finding it weird. I kept watching all of her older vids and got hooked. If I ever need sleep, I come back to this video.
Yes I do that as well. Its an oldie but a goodie. When my day is chaotic and I feel like I'm drowning in stress I usually turn to my partener. But she has her own life and family as well, so this isn't always possible for me. So I use this video if I need that need filled this video does it perfectly. I actually have several videos for different types of stress and situations that I go back to. Its amazing how well it works.

I am usually filled with rage and for valid reasons....But I try to pass on to others as little of what poisoned me as possible. I remember I was sick and upset and couldn’t sleep so I searched “sleepy videos”. I saw ASMR come up, and it was this video I clicked on. I instantly fell in love with this channel and watched a load of older videos (not SUPER old) like this one and she was the only ASMRist I watched for a while. I fell asleep almost immediately. I wasn’t feeling well today, and was getting tired of the newer ASMR videos I watched recently from others, and wanted to relive old memories. :) this video has a lot of meaning for me and I’m sorry if this was too long but I felt I just had to share.

Thank you for this!!! Just discovered ASMR. I have early onset Parkinsons Disease and have been dealing with sleep issues for years. Tried this out of desperation and it worked! Fell asleep within 5 minutes. Usually takes me an hour or more to fall asleep.

This is amazing; I've always experienced ASMR throughout my life occasionally ever since I was small boy but never knew exactly what it was. I knew that I usually experienced it at times when I felt a particular sense of comfort and/or being cared for but didn't know there was specific triggers.
At the age of 41 I have (quite by accident) discovered it is actually a 'thing' and that it can be induced.
I have to say Maria that you definitely have the knack and thank you for introducing me to this phenomena.

As someone who experiences heavy depersonalization and intense feelings of loneliness... I want to just admit that this is the first time I did ASMR and it evoked a whole lot of emotional response and I felt like I wasn't alone, like I was loved and being comforted. I can't comprehend the feeling of satisfaction I experienced. Most people wouldn't admit to it, but it actually made me tear up. I'm an emotional person who craves this sort of attention and feelings of physical comfort and... yeah. Thank you. My surroundings feel ever more real after only 11 minutes of this.

I love these videos so much. They help me unwind, recharge, and relax my mind. How brave is Maria to sit in front of a camera and go through each of these experiences, slowly and up close! Gawd, I would be SO afraid to do this. But she is a professional artist! The first time I had this ASMR sensation, I was in 2nd grade, and it was my library teacher who would speak so calmly and check out books with this smoothness that just sent tingles all over my head and neck. It was like a drug. I loved it.

My first one too! I was sick and wanted to fall asleep so I looked up “sleepy videos”. I found this and watched it, never finding it weird. I kept watching all of her older vids and got hooked. If I ever need sleep, I come back to this video.
Yes I do that as well. Its an oldie but a goodie. When my day is chaotic and I feel like I'm drowning in stress I usually turn to my partener. But she has her own life and family as well, so this isn't always possible for me. So I use this video if I need that need filled this video does it perfectly. I actually have several videos for different types of stress and situations that I go back to. Its amazing how well it works.
