  • After being hit with a handful of hardships, and basically left with nothing; I'm questioning how I can move forward from here.

This is the first video I’ve watched and we just met on that zoom call that one time and you were driving and trying to manage and one person can only do so much if you have two children and you are in a situation where the neighbors are making life absolutely impossible for you then I do believe and agree with some of the other comments that it’s time to look forward and look for your maybe not even your forever place but a better place. If I were you my goal would be to clean up that place and put it on the market and see what you can get for it and that will dictate what your next step is. God bless you and yes God will be your guiding light through this so lean on Him.

I’m so sorry. I know and understand the pain of feeling as though you have lost everything. Please know that the homestead that you built was a beautiful light for so many people and this is not the end! You will rebuild in a better and safer environment where you truly have a family community. The biggest thing I see here is that was not your forever home. The next will be surrounded by kindness and support bc those neighbors were putting your family in danger,l and if they will harm bees there’s no telling what they are capable of, so u did what was necessary. Sending all good vibes your way. Something better is on the way.

Followed your journey for years now. My yard was toasted by the freeze as well. Hang in there. Im looking to get away from some of the topicals I think going forward. Keeping some green in the winter would be nice. Your future thoughts sound really good. Humble might be a good spot for a like minded community and a bit of space. Best of luck.

I've enjoyed watching your channel, since I like to see our climate boundaries tested. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. I think you'd like Alvin better since you like working with tropicals. Huntsville probably gets hard freezes like this every winter. I'm sure there are neighborhoods out there where nobody would care if you wanted to keep some chickens and goats. The problem is how to go about finding them. That would make a good episode if you can figure it out.

Yes. I was thinking the same thing. Also considering having a substantial greenhouse in the future, so I can stop burning these tropicals! Ha. No, they survive, but die back too much to bare fruit.

I’ll look into it. Don’t want to live too far in the boonies, as I have kids I’m raising and want them well-rounded.

I actually thought about you during the hard freeze. Our family moved a year ago because we wanted more land to be more self sufficient. I am a Christian and believe God has a plan for everyone's life. I will be praying for you and your family. I like this channel weed em and reap. They have one acre in Arizona and have made a really cool little farm. Who knows what God has planned for you. I will pray for peace and guidance for you! Don't lose hope.

Wishing you all the best! You will be able to recreate 100% times better. Some neighbors are the worst. So horrible to hear about your bees 😢 Weather is getting super unpredictable and crazy for places that had mild winters.

Best of luck amigo... I got hit hard also as far as plants go.... by August I'll know which plants to dig up and throw away. If I can help just let me know. I live just down the street ... Javier

@@eljardinperdido My garage is my greenhouse. I put almost all of my citrus plants there and a bunch of tropicals. All doing well. My "in-ground" tropicals should be ok but for some, they will need to start from ground level again. This year I'll develop something to protect my in-ground freeze sensitive plants using a Tent and Light system. I will also begin learning how to propagate my plants as a backup Plan-B. .... hang in there amigo ... Javier

Oh no the goats and chickens 😢 I can’t imagine 😢 homesteading and gardening is hard , I have lost animals and when they get sick at once is hard , plus our jobs and parenting and taking care of the house can be overwhelming 🥺 but animals and plants give us so much joy that it worth and we have to keep pushing I couldn’t imagine not having those things in my life anymore , I hope this break recharge you to a new start in the future, I really love your channel and I think it has a lot of potential wish you the best

I’m sorry to hear about this difficult time you’re going through. Maybe this is just a little push you need to be in a “better” place. You’re an awesome dad for considering you’re children before making such a drastic decision of where to move.
    Good luck to you!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
