    The chart at 0:58 is not for Jet streams, it is for El Nino.
    Secondly, at 2:15 you're explaining Hadley Cycle which has little relation to the Jet Streams. (Explain Geostrophic Wind and the changes in pressure at the top of the troposphere as we move from the tropics to the poles).

      When we read about jet stream we say low pressure from equator meets high pressure subtropical or but when we read sea breeze or land breeze we say if there is low pressure upper will be high pressure vice versa or in indian monsoon also why ???? This same case not apply in jet stream why we not say if polar has high pressure upper atmosphere will be low like in two permanent jet stream whyyyy?????????????

    You didnt explain the real question
    1. How does jet stream change weather pattern?
    2 How Jet stream are formed?
    3 Why they move in west to east direction?
    I think this whole lecture just stated facts didn't addressed the concept.

    • @weathersponge5000
      @weathersponge5000 6 лет назад +1

      A jet stream changes weather patterns in an area based on certain areas with warmer air. Sun rays would hit the equator warming up the Earth and would rise air in one area. Once that a parcel of warm air rises and encounters the colder atmosphere, the air cools and has to sink somewhere where the air isn't rising so it sinks in another area of the world. If there is warm or rising parcel of air in one area of the world, there must be an equal amount of sinking cooling air to keep the atmosphere balanced. So that is why the weather may be warmer and colder than usual sometimes.
      -A jet stream is formed with the combination of the Coriolis effect and instability. The Coriolis effect steers the wind & parcels of air into a certain direction, that wind is formed through areas of instability where the contrast between warm parcels of air and cold parcels of air is particularly strong within an area of the world. As a result of this strong contrast in temperature, physic laws always state how denser air will always move to less dense air. In this case the dense air is the colder parcel while the less dense air is the warm parcel. The colder parcel will always try to fill in the warmer parcel that has less dense and rising air which creates wind that fuels the jet stream. Combined with the steering of the Coriolis effect the jet stream is formed.

    Sir what would happen if a hot air current flows over a cold air current, or a cold area in general? Does the cold air below get attracted to the hot air flowing above so there will be a tiny bit of low pressure formed at surface? How does a warm air current get cooled?

    Very nice sir one question how jet streams are responsible for ocean current

    • @mubashshirali571
      @mubashshirali571 5 лет назад

      Basically , pressure difference is responsible for any fluid flow, whether in ocean or atmosphere. How this pressure difference arises is because of differential heating, that is, all the parts of the Earth don't receive the equal amount of heat from Sun.
