ZackT618 To be fair, Howard Hoffman was one of channel 8’s signature voices (alongside John Fitzgerald) since day one and clearly did the news report live.
The WJKW Sign On and "Merv Griffin" promo was v/o by the late Howard Hoffmann, the "Candid Camera" promo, WJKW Station ID, and City Camera News Noon edition intro (w/ Dave Buckel and Mike Keen) was v/o by Andy Hale, and the WJKW Station ID and City Camera News Evening Edition (w/ Jim Hale and Jeff Maynor) was v/o by the late John FitzGerald.
I'm fairly sure that the image campaign was recorded at William B. Tanner in Memphis. The same vocalists are heard on the 55 KSD "Spirit of St. Louis" package.
That transition from City Camera News to the CBS Evening News via the blue screen behind them was smoooooooth
I LOVED that chroma-key effect....very clever!!
@@videoholic50s60s70s Absolutely!
They did the same thing for their Late Movie following the 11:00 news.
I have to admit Cleveland Channel 8 City Camera News had a badass theme back in the mid-70s! MacArthur Park:)
I was wondering if that wasn't a snippet of "MacArthur Park". In Australia, they used the same one, I think, for promos for their Channel 10 Network.
Love this time capsule of what TV looked like in that era.
And in the Forecla-- Forecast! Priceless!!!

Just not long after that, it’s newscasts name just changed to Newscenter 8.

They still had the same creepy looking test pattern that they had as WJW.
One of a few colorized variants of the test pattern designed by the engineering department of WPIX (Channel 11) in New York way back in 1949.
News Themes by Hugo Montenegro and his Orchestra playing 'MacArthur Park - Allegro Part 3'...!
Today we are no longer known as television 8. We are now TV8 lol
Now WJW as a FOX affiliate
Who else could do weather on Channel 8 but Dick Goddard!
Kdaf 33 Dallas WGN Chicago and wpix new York remember Cleveland sister when used Letter k 1977-1985.
What does the K mean in WJKW?
Absolutely nothing. They had to change from WJW to something else, so they just added the K.
Kwality.
Kleveland?
Sorry. Just being silly.
Since John F. Weimer was the founder, why not have made it WJFW?
