- A planet outside our own solar system is called an exoplanet. With NASA's Kepler Space Telescope, thousands have been discovered over the past two decades.
There is a huge variety of sizes and orbits of these worlds. Some planets are giant and hug close to their parent stars; others are icy and some are rocky. NASA and other agencies are looking for a planet 9, six times the size of Earth that orbits the sun, but is it an exoplanet?.
The habitable zone is the range of distances from a star where liquid water oceans are possible on a planet. Current calculations of the habitable zone include many other factors, including a planet's atmosphere's greenhouse effect, in addition to simple thermal equilibrium. As a result, the boundaries of a habitable zone are fuzzy.

How can we know that there are planets in solar systems light years away, yet we can’t say for sure whether or not planet 9 exists in our own solar system??
*NEWSFLASH : According to the Hebrew Yisraelite scriptures, history, physics, physical laws, analytical logic etc, one of the many reasons why absolutely no individual with a minimum of only two functioning brain cells should never trust anything that the descendants of Esau Edom aka the Caucasus mountains so-called Caucasians as true is because, they're no just lairs, they're habitual liars.*
Because we can see the wobble of thy star. We can't see that in our own universe and have to find other methods.
Because planets in other solar systems are detected by how the planet masks the light from that solar system's sun as the planet passes in front of it. This can't be done with a theoretical Planet 9 because it is on the other side of the sun from us. So other methods of detection need to be used, such as a gravitational "tug" from that planet, but this is difficult to detect.
