  • My Chevy S 10 Starter motor has been making a big Grinding Sound when I engage it lately.. This can only mean that the Starter Motor is beginning to Wear out. It will only get worse and worse and eventually Leave Me Stranded someplace unable to get My Truck Started..
I Replace the Original Stater in this Truck Years ago and Now it is time for a New One.
This is Not a very easy Job to do but is something You can do at Home if You have the Proper tools. I Paid $55.00 for the New Starter at the Local Auto Zone. It has a Life time guarantee
I Hope this Video will Help someone out Who is looking to do this Job. Thanks for Watching.

At least we know you'll never die from a car falling on you. I've seen safe, but you're on a whole other level lol. Nothing wrong with it.

Nice video dude. I'm starting to have issues with my 93 s10 4.3L V6 cranking and I have yet to replace the starter on this used truck. Thanks for sharing.

I used to work at Auto Zone. You’re gonna have to replace that starter again as with all their lifetime warranty parts. Same with alternators, plugs wires coils brakes it’s all garbage.

I have a 1991 Chevy S10 with a 4.3L engine, 4x2, Tahoe version. I'm amazed at the amount of room you have from the top looking down. Was yours a smaller engine? I am only able to see a sliver of the starter and there is absolutely no way to access the 2 nuts from the top. I had to use swivel sockets with 12" to 16" extensions. The only access I could get was from the top of the right front tire. That, too, was a huge pain to get to and is very difficult to put the nuts back on. I learned a trick from another youtube video when taking the old starter out (and putting the new one in). They took out or completely loosened four 15 mm bolts that hold the housing that the starter nose hits when attempting to drop it. Without doing this, I spent at least half hour manipulating it 1,001 different ways to no avail. Drop the housing and it comes out much easier.

Where do you put the 2 little wires? I have a big word from my battery and a small wire from battery both positive. I also have a small wire coming from my wiring harness. When I hook the battery with the two small wires both on the small terminal and the big one on the big terminal it sparks and tries to turn over.

Mine only had two small wires to attach. They go back in the same Place. Your Battery Should be disconected while doing this.
