  • Today I visited the national zoo of Malaysia and it did not disappoint! I love nature and animals so much. I even managed to capture Oyen, the famous orange cat tht lives with the capybara, although I was unaware of it at the time. Can you spot him? Hehe

I see the Zoo has come a long way. I visited the KL Zoo a few decades ago. Those days you needn't have to walk a long way to see the animals. They were caged and you make a 360° rotation and you would have seen quite a lot of animals Now, the animals are humanely placed in comfortable environment. The lush variant greenery is exceptional for visitors from the Great White North, where one can only see a handful species of vegetation.
I visited the Toronto Metropolitan Zoo in Scarborough, in the early 80's and had to walk great distances just to see a few animals. You would need to make a couple of trips to adequately see the animals that were displayed as close as possible to their natural habitats. TMZ is one of the top 10 zoos on the world.

Ooooh maybe that’s why I had envisioned that there would be a lot of walking and things far away. I’m sure I went as a child in Toronto!

@@the.yellow.princess FYI. my GF (remember my comment where I said my friend made me a coffee using her ballpoint pen as a stirrer at the ROM, Well, she came with me to the zoo with a new pair of sneakers.) had to walk barefooted out of the zoo area holding her sneakers in her hand as she had developed blisters on her soles. We walked along Military Trail all the way to Orphan Annie's Bistro, and had chicken wings with "suicide sauce" with a can of pop.

8:11 raccoon is not native to Malaysia. But we have quite similar animal to raccoon which we called musang (civet). People also called it musang pandan because they smell like pandan. Some people called it musang buah (fruit) because they thought the animal just like eating fruits but they actually love eating meat too. However, most people here whenever mentions about musang they always think of fox which is wrong. Fox is rubah, not musang (civet). In Indonesia, they let musang eat coffee bean and when the musang poo, they pick it up, clean it and guess what, they make it coffee drinks ☕ It's called kopi luwak and very expensive. Musang, although it's a wild animal and can be aggressive, but from my experience of took care of them, once they know you, they'll love you. They're just like the hyperactive version of cat 😺

Everyone go searching for the missing capybara and they finally found and captured. And not only a capybara but Oyen also missing. Well as we all knew that cat is very smart and believes it has 9 lives. Oyen started climbing trees when noticing the water level is increasing. And fortunately no animals were harmed, and all are saved during the incident.
