I really hope we get some more traditional dungeons. Right proper monster filled labyrinths. A link to the past and the gameboy games have some real bangers. The more modern zelda dungeons like the divine beasts felt too small and short. As for possible dungeon locations, the bottom of the well in kakariko might be one. Possibly a new take on the shadow temple?

the two things I want: final boss can't be beaten until you've done all of the main content, and for the dungeons to be linear. There are lots of other things that would be nice to have, such as dungeon exclusive echos that are required for certain secrets and to beat the dungeon, but that seems less likely to me so I won't expect it

I think going forward, we should:
      1. Have 3 terminal instead of 5
      2. Feature 3 or 4 puzzle in sequence for each terminal
      3. You can do it in any order, and you only need to do 2 out of 3. With full completion giving extra chest with rewards
I think this can bring some sequence back to the dungeon while making them open enough to fit “not doing everything” philosophy of the newer Zelda. 2 out of 3 can be a good move because player are gonna stuck in these dungeons.

Even if this game doesn't have a premade linear path you can still make one for yourself. That's what I did for BOTW and TOTK I based it off of OOT and tried to solve the main quests and one or two side quests based off of the order of OOT which was Hyrule, Korok, Death Mountain, Zora Domain, Kakariko Village than Gerudo Desert. So I will be doing things in a similar pattern if that is what I feel is needed to make this game more linear.

I'm inclined to believe that there's the possibility of there being 8 dungeons in Echoes of Wisdom just like in ALTTP/ALBTW, Link's Awakening, and the Oracle games. The way I could see this working is that each of the races' dungeons has a corresponding dungeon within the rifts. This means we would have four dungeons within the rifts along with four more associated with each of the four races in the normal world. Maybe there could even be 10 if the Eastern Palace ends up being a tutorial dungeon and Hyrule Castle is the game's take on Ganon's Tower or Lorule Castle.

I'm gonna be honest, while I'm still definitely going to buy and play this game, cause I've been hungry for a new top-down Zelda since A Link Between Worlds, I'm concerned about how cheese-able the dungeons and enemies will be. Sort of like how people cheesed shrines and traversal in BoTW and ToTK, especially the latter with the hoverbike.
I was hoping the top-down style Zeldas would still be a bastion of the classic puzzle-box style gameplay. Not necessarily fully open or non-linear, cause Zelda 1 and A Link to the Past have had some pretty open maps and some non-linearity in dungeon order, but still had the puzzle-box dungeon design that had a lot of creativity. By having a few or even just one solution to the puzzles out there, it requires you to consider your surroundings and tools you have on hand for how to deal with the obstacles in front of you. Then when you get a new tool, like say The Cane of Somaria in A Link to the Past, it re-contextualizes all previous encounters of those obstacles and puzzles, like holding down switches that deactivate when you step off of them, or making moving platforms.
I'm worried we won't be seeing anything like that in this game, cause it feels like the echoes and abilities like Bind, are just going to have such broken combinations, they just become the defacto answer to everything, like the hoverbike in ToTK. For example, in the gameplay footage you showed of Zelda using Bind, you can see her summon 2 Moblin echoes throwing spears, and just holding the target in place with Bind while they chuck spears at it. If all the common enemies are going to be that easily cheesed, then that's going to be a problem. Some might say "Just don't do that bro," but that doesn't solve the problem of it existing, and instead highlights that balancing issue.
They also showed the different echo combinations, like water and bed making a floating platform. So depending on how strong that is and how early we get it, will it just trivialize any other form of transport like TotK's hoverbike did for any other form of exploration? Why use the bird echoes they showed to glide, when you can just use the water and bed for everything?
These are my only concerns though; I think I'll probably still have fun with it overall. But if all of that turns out to be true, then I think it'd be safe to say, after 3 games, the classic, puzzle-box style Zelda is probably never coming back, and we'll have to look to the indie scene for spiritual successors.

    • @firenze6478
      @firenze6478 18 дней назад

This is also my biggest fear.
I call them 3d metroidvanias which is what all Zelda’s were before botw.
The game was about solving puzzles that gave access to new tools that would allow you to access other areas and solve puzzles or combat in new ways.
The new games are just bland because instead of continuously evolving, link is just stagnant with the same abilities from the get go.

If it's open world, it's terrible news. It means the Zelda formula that made this series what it was died, both 2D and 3D.

@@Vigilanteblade breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom are the only ones who don't have "classic" dungeons. And both received HEAVY criticism for it.
The game being open world and allowing you to tackle dungeons in any order doesn't automatically mean there won't be a return to form for the dungeon design. (Not to mention the original Zelda game literally was like this) Especially since they probably won't be returning to the dungeon item formula, which isn't even needed with the echo mechanic.
Let's play the game first before judging the dungeon design.

So I'm thinking, there's also a evil Zelda....With a much bigger nose....kinda like a gueruto nose. Is it possible, in this dark world....where ganon must have won causing this gueruto queen. And evil link is under the power of this gueruto Zelda? Which would explain the wanted posters and why real Zelda has to hide her features and why she was in jail in the first place.
