Important to mention that along with Paul Ifill (coincidentally, the guy whose injury triggered Krishna's emergency signing back in 2013), Roy Krishna is considered the Phoenix's best ever player. There's a famous Roy Krishna story from his Wellington Phoenix days that still gets shared around now. Ahead of the 17/18 season, we hired Bosnian manager Darije Kalezić - our first ever manager without any A-League experience. He was a flat-out awful hire, who lost the dressing room immediately and couldn't get the best out of Krishna who had only four goals in his 21 games. After one particularly tough loss, Kalezić came into the dressing room in front of the entire team brandishing a Fijian rugby jersey and threw it at Krishna, telling him he might as well play a different sport. Kalezić was dumped midway through the season, we salvaged 9th place, and we almost lost Krishna to the Colorado Rapids in the MLS as he was so disillusioned with the club. They didn't match our asking price for him though - and Krishna promptly followed up his poor 17/18 return by grabbing 34 goals and 11 assists in the next two seasons (48 games). An unequivocal club legend, and we still hold out hope he returns home one day

Till the date he loves us we loves him and missed him so much.
He is the fox in the box type of footballer.
Due to some misunderstanding with our old coach juan ferando he leaves .
But by heart he is still a mariner ❤💚
Joy mohunbagan ❤💚
great to see some welly phoenix content
roy is a flippin legend
at one point he looked like coming bsck but did turn out unfortuantly hoping he comes back for a year sometime
UP THE NIX
Roy Krishna is 🔥 in Odisha FC
Awesome video I remember watching Roy Krishna smashing it for Wellington Phoenix, ripper player
Roy Krishna is now an absolute legend in the ISL( Indian Super League ) and I feel lucky that he has represented my club ATK MohunBagan ( now Mohun Bagan) ❤ . That too he's of Indian origin , what if his parents stayed in India ?
use to love watching krishna tear up the a-league, would be sick to see you cover Central Coast Mariners so many stories around the club, usain bolt, luis garcia and so much more
We have such a meme filled history, someone could make a hilarious 2 hour documentary about the dark wooden spoon years alone.
Sometimes I still have nightmares about liam rose and jake McGing being our starting CB's lmao
When I saw that ATK signed Krishna I knew he was going to be a hit. Thanks for sharing his early days story what a legend
Yeah, I knew about him and his story. I played a 32 team club world cup in FIFA 19 a couple years back, and he carried Wellington Phoenix to the round of 16 (they lost to Chelsea)
Wow
i love uplifting stories like this, great video!
Love seeing content about someone who has played locally to me!
As an FYI - 'Waitakere' is said 'y-tuka-rey' . You made a great effort! Māori names can be a challenge some times for people to pronounce
Ok so
With my best friend we played a game of FIFA where he chose a random team...which had Roy Krishna in it
Being much better at FIFA than me, he had Krishna score 4 goals against me, and as a result I renamed him "Roy Krishna" in our messenger chat as a meme
So seeing him be the subject of a Zealand video more than 2 years later is absolutely crazy
I am a Wellington Phoenix fan and have supported wellington for years now and I had the opportunity to see Roy Krishna play in his best 2018-19 season and In that game he scored 2 penalties and helped the phoenix back from 2-0 down to 3-2 up!
UP THE NIX
So excited as a Phoenix fan to see a video about Roy Krishna!
UP THE NIX🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What a great vídeo. Thanks for that, Z.
Great story...
Roy Krishna is a legend 🔥
Superb story!
These are your bag!!! I love this. Keep this content up
Wonderful story 👏😊
He is still the top scorer of 23-24 isl
season
Roy Krishna stayed at my club Bengaluru FC for 1 season , he won us a durand cup but unfortunately we lost the ISL final and Super Cup Final both and he missed his domestic treble
Roy is lethal striker we always nervous to facing him
The “hi England” had me rolling on the floor, caught me soooo off guard 😂😂
Roy Krishna is a true legend. Currently he is playing for Odisha FC in Indian Super League.
Played at the Wellington Phoenix! New Zealand's only professional team and my local! What a player.
UP THE NIX🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He is One of the Football Legend in All indians eye 💜😊
ROY is a true team man, great to see him play in my club ATK Mohun Bagan
Roy Krishna is surely a legend 🔥🔥🔥
13:11 Z, Quick correction the AFC cup is the equivalent of the Europa league of Asia. It is the second tier continental compitation
Hell yeah Fiji represent, I remember my cousins in NZ would go out to watch his matches cause it was just hype to watch a countryman rip it up in football, just like seeing more pacific lads out here doing well in A-League
I live in labasa the same place roy grew up Fiji is full of ballers but they never get a chance to proof themselves getting discovered for football rarely happens
ROY KRISHNA is an icon
Of my prev club
13:11 *Asian's equivalent to Europa League, The AFC Cup
