      You didn’t use the vitamix correctly. You first start off at a low speed and then ramp it to 10 slowly so it makes things smooth. After that you blast it on max so it cuts the products at a molecular level. Yes a vitamix can do that. Again you’re a complete and total jabronie who didn’t use it right.

    Cook's Illustrated had an interesting article on blenders. They concluded that what makes Vitamix blenders good is the tall and narrow blender container that is only found on the 5200 blenders. The shorter containers were created much later because customers complained about their blenders not fitting under their cabinets on but it doesn't blend as well.
    I had a cheap blender for awhile as well, and I'll say the biggest difference I notice is that cheaper blenders give off a weird plastic smell to whatever their blending. For that alone I'd invest in a better blender but you don't need to get a $400 one, but the best ones, like Blendtec or Breville are all about the same price anyway (~$400).

    Vitamix blenders will last you for the rest of your life and they're the top brand on the market. You didn't waste your money.

    • @eyespy3001
      @eyespy3001 2 года назад +3

      Vitamix blenders last long if you use them once or twice a month. Use it every day, and that lifetime shortens down to about 5 years. I’ve used these in restaurant kitchens and after a couple of years of everyday use, the motors start to give. They overheat quite often.

    • @LVX-
      @LVX- 2 года назад

      @@eyespy3001 Maybe they improved now? I don't have these but quality blenders are really good. If only companies do not have the "planned obsolescence", the Oyster blender that was in the family, I don't know since when, still works really well.

    • @eyespy3001
      @eyespy3001 2 года назад

      @@LVX- I think, if anything, Vitamix blenders I’ve gotten worse. In the commercial culinary world, products and ideas start in the commercial sector, then get trickled down and redesigned for the consumer market. Vitamix blenders started as commercial kitchen tanks. As the popularity of cooking grew, and home cooks wanted the fancy commercial stuff, the demand for a consumer-grade Vitamix grew. It grew so much that Vitamix had to start cutting corners in their production- cheaper parts and faster production. This is why the price dropped from $600 to ~$400. It’s also the reason they don’t last as long anymore.
      High demand is the killer of quality.

      @LVX- 2 года назад

      @@eyespy3001 Have you seen this? In electronics, I know that this happens so you are forced to buy a new phone or PC. ruclips.net/video/j5v8D-alAKE/видео.html
      P.S. Vitamix brand is also not that well known outside of America. Quality blender brands that are usually popular outside of the US are Oster (lol, called it Oyster before), KitchenAid, (plus all those old well known brands).

    The main difference is the shape and size of the blender jug the $400 one was a square and much wider than the cheaper one which ment that more could get to the blades at the bottom unlike the funnel like cheaper one and hence the wooden spoon was needed to push them down. The ice for example at its size could not fit in the gap where it would be crushed on the funnel like blender so it only got scratched whilst they could fully fit into the gap on the square blender and get crushed.

    Yeah, if you can afford the expense, Vitamix is the blender to buy for a reason: it's just superior. Faster blend times, smoother consistency, better handling of items that like to clump, and a stick to push the ingredients down into the blades that is specifically designed to be used with the lid so that you can't actually get it to touch the blades themselves. It's basically the best blender you can buy for consumer applications. And I haven't even mentioned that the motor is so overpowered that you can actually blend things until they get hot just from friction, so you can make smooth soups from raw ingredients in your blender and they come out hot. Pretty incredible.

    It completely depends on the use case. Vitamix is used in professional kitchens because they can stand up to being used and abused for hours on end every single day, from blending soups and purees at boiling temperature, to crushing ice, to making powder out of seeds or peppercorns, to making nut butters or sorbet or shakes/smoothies.
    It's not for everyone, but it's worth the price.

    My family has had the same VitaMix 5200 for over 10 years. You can fill that thing to the top with frozen fruit and ice and it will liquefy it no problem. It's loud, but basically indestructible and I'm convinced you could use it to mix concrete. Definitely not a waste of money for being able to blend anything you can think of better than another blender safely. And you won't have to get a new one ever

    If its Just for Drinks then the one you have is Fine, but if your planning on using it for a House Blender as well as a Drink Blender, I understand why they Suggested other types. As for a Multi Function, I would got with the Ninja Blender due to its interchangable heads.

    If you own a bar, just not having to stick a spoon in it to help it blend is worth 400$ several times over! Just in time not wasted, it'll pay for it self in a couple of months - even faster if your bartenders used the "blender is broken" lie when people ordered frozen drinks.

    The take away here is that it won't make the drink different but if you're in a professional capacity where you need drinks fast then this is 100% worth it because it cut up those drink instantly with ease and little external help while the other one you had to continously move around the contents to make sure they reached the bottom and got cut up which also leaves less consistent drinks which is what's bad from a service stand point. Fine if you make drinks just for yourself and don't care about these drawbacks but completely unacceptable in a professional setting if you ask me.

    The blender in the video was a blender my dad bought but then returned it. I have a blender that is under 200 dollars and it's really good for the price because it comes with lids to use the blender cup as a normal cup and gives you a big blender cup to blend a lot of stuff but if you need to blend something for yourself, it has a smaller blender cup
