I think the TimeOut is great for two people and for multiple days in the same spot. I always was concerned at how long the bed area and everything you have stored could get rained on while setting up or taking down. I'm mostly solo on trips so, after much looking at all trailers and searching, I went for a Mini Mate. Excellent decision for myself. Good comparison video.
I agree. You make some more good cons for having the minimate. I just needed something that I can weekend camp with the wife. Hopefully no rain with the Timeout. 😂 She’s mostly into hoteling it.
Great video review buddy ! I ended up getting a Lees-Ure Lite Excel mainly because the manufacturer’s plant is 90 minutes from my place and setup is 2 minutes which is great when I am traveling alone. (My second option was the Mini Mate) Cheers, Eddie
Leave the valves on your mattress open for about an hour and it will continue to take more air. The longer it has been rolled tight, the longer it takes. Especially if you are in cold weather
Major negative with the timeout as you can see in your video is if it is raining everything inside is wet. The Minimates you can set up without getting everything soaked in addition the Minimate has better storage that you can access while it is closed. The build quality is much better on the mini mate as well.
Thanks for your input. I tend to agree. The tent on the timeout goes up fairly quickly but if it’s pouring rain your stuff will get wet. I’ve not had to setup in the rain with either one yet. Hopefully if I get to a campsite with it raining I can sort of wait it out.
The self inflating air mattress I show in this video is very comfortable sleeping on. I’ve spent about a total of eight nights sleep on it. Amazing how comfortable it is. Very pleased with my purchase.
I’ve had the time out for over 3 years now and love it. Ours came with airmattress and I have gotten where I can set it up myself on average 4-5 minutes same with tear down. I highly recommend time out if for nothing else it’s so much spacious. Weighs just over 200lbs and toes like you don’t know it’s back there
Thank you. I am actually referring to the other modifications that are featured in the slide show toward the end. Like the top mounted rack, the table attachment, etc. It starts at 24:23 in your video. And I'll check out the solar setup too. Thanks!
Yeah. Slip of the tongue. I can only hope when people are watching and see the minimate and I slip up and say timeout, they would know I meant Minimate. Thanks for pointing that out. 👍🏻
I did this video on the solar project on my Minimate. I think I have about $400 in it. All the items I bought except for the battery are listed in a comment on this video. I bought a marine deep cycle battery at Rural King for $75. ruclips.net/video/oEd3giNy4T0/видео.html
I have a 150W folding solar ordered from Amazon for $169.00 and another 60w folding solar bought from Amazon too for $70.00. I use the solar to charge my 2 300W power station and a SLA battery.
I have a trailmaster Aspen deluxe and it’s as easy to setup as the minimate don’t think I’d like the timeout, the only problem I have is trailmaster went out of business so getting parts is a problem
With electric I use a hair dryer. I have a thermostat that I plug it into and have a remote to adjust it. For dispersed camping I have a 2000w inverter I can run my hair dryer on low all night. But for really cold dispersed camping I have a little buddy propane heater.
Since I did this I have found the minimate has more storage than the timeout but you can strap some totes on top of the timeout to make up for it. The timeout is more of a couples camper. Minimate for solo trips. There is a motorcycle camper sell page on Facebook. If you want a link let me know.
@@canyoudigit3709 I've looked in market place but if you have a different link, I'd appreciate it. I'm a solo most the time so it doesn't matter. I just don't want to be on the ground at my age. Lol
You can get a easy camp model from timeout for $3695. It’s a smaller version than the one in the video. I also might add you can get a timeout regular for $4195. I the the regular is what I’ve got (shown in the video).
There are a few times when you are showing the mini mate and you say “now this Timeout”….but you mean the mini mate. If someone doesn’t know it can be a bit confusing. If you can add a text that says you meant Mini Mate, that would clarify. Not important to me but maybe to others that don’t know the difference. This a great, useful video and you did an excellent job. Thank you.
This is nut. £5k for a tent you have to store in the trailer and then build. I could get a 4.1 arpenaz walk in tent and a double camp bed and down duvet in the bottom of the minimate. The timeout looks like an expensive waste of time. You could just pull a regular trailer store a huge tent in it have loads of space left to store other stuff in the trailer as well as the tent and it would setup in the same time as the timeout and cost about 1k. I see benefit to the minimate i see none for the timeout.
They’re both huge failures as far as I’m concerned. They take way too long to set up for our liking. The timeout is just ridiculous. I couldn’t imagine setting that up on a rainy night when you run as long as you can and then just pull over somewhere to sleep. What a pain in the ass that would be. We currently have a bunkhouse… which we love. In LESS than a minute… you’re done. I mean … inside …dry and warm sleeping. But if we decided we needed more room (For whatever strange reason) I would definitely pass on either of these two and go straight to a Excel II. Good job on the vid though. Thanks for posting.

Yes I purchased a used mini mate for that purpose.
Two people can be in the Mini Mate too
@@HumAnimalTammy lol, I can certainly agree with that.

Talked me into the Kompact! At the end of the day I want easy and quick!
Good comparison thanks for taking the time to compare. I'd prefer the 2 person most definitely.
Yeah. Timeout has a lot more room in it. Less in the trailer storage but the totes on the top of it help a bunch. Happy camping.

Agree with you you can set up the minimate event hough its raining in less than 5 minutes.
I have the mini mate now for 10 years never let me down on the trips trough europe

i ordered a timeout deluxe this month. driving a r1200rt 570#wet/curb weight. how many pounds can i load into the deluxe? i opted for ‘elec brakes.’
I am highly impressed by the modifications you made on your Mini Mate. Do you have more info on those?
Thanks for watching - I have a list of what I bought for the solar setup in the comments on this video.

Nice job! It's a small glitch but twice you called the Kompact Kamp the Timeout by mistake. You might want to edit the audio for clarity.
You can also get an add on room for the Mini Mate
Yes. I have the add a room. It’s nice.
Like the idea of a camper but wife and I go on our trips to see the sights and are usually making miles instead of having a base camp.
Thanks for the video
You bet. Thanks for watching!
See ya on the flip flop, ! Love it ! ❤️🦘🦘🦘

Thanks, I want to get a Timeout, kind of looking to see if there are any on the used market near me.
Check on Facebook marketplace there's plenty for sale.
Thanks for sharing!

What size is the bed in the Time Out?
Thanks for the video! Enjoyed it!
It’s a queen I believe. I sold it and only have the minimate now. It’s a little smaller than queen. But I am usually by myself.
Thanks for the video-
How much did the solar unit cost and do you have battery as well?

And this video is towards the end of the project. Good luck setting yours up. It’s not really that difficult.

Have you camped on a no hook up site and how do you keep warm? Most of the sites Ive camped have hookup and I keep warm with an electric heater.

What's the max speed you pull these?
I’ve pulled it on the interstate at 75. No issues. I sometimes have to remind myself it’s back there.
@@canyoudigit3709 Thanks, I'm new to trailering and wondered if 75 was do able safely. I pull a cycle mate cm1000 and can hardly tell its back there.

What3s the difference in price?
Price can vary depending on accessories and model. But the best I can say would be around $4695 for timeout deluxe and $3495 for a Minimate.
