"You can have it all. My empire of dirt." Those words hit so hard, especially when Arthur is laying there, telling Dutch that he gave him everything. And now Dutch has nothing left to collect but his empire of dirt, for all those that really loved him, are gone and in Arthur's case, Dutch as good as killed him.
Fun fact: guitarist Matt Sweeney who co-wrote The Housebuilding Song (and EP) played on the posthumously released Cash album American VI: Ain't No Grave
Man, Arthur’s voice goes so well with Johnny’s songs. Edit: Everyone is aware that the original is nine inch nails, thanks everyone. Lol. But this video of Arthur singing it is based off Johnny’s version. 🤪
@@driedbark Arthur helped so many people during his life, but the song talks about hurting other people or oneself. To help and to hurt are opposites, so there comes the ironi. And still it's not that ironic, because, unfortunately Morgan hurt people during his life as well. Sometimes even himself. So, whether you consider it ironic or rightful, the song fits perfect.
“Everyone I know goes away in the end” really hurts hearing it coming from Arthur…man’s parents were never there, the love of his life couldn’t be with him, his son passed before he got a chance at life, and the only family he ever truly had along with his surrogate father figures fell apart as the world collapsed around him. I hope he felt he earned his redemption in the end.
This is fucking mind-blowing how good this sounds and how fitting it is, considering that Johnny's and Arthur's voices are both a bit coarse and soothing I bet it wasn't so hard to make this happen. I'm literally in awe listening to this while playing the game
We take a lot of time making all of our songs, but you’re correct, it was simple getting the raw vocals correct! Their voices are so similar it was perfect.
I haven't even finished the game yet, so I haven't even seen the video to avoid spoilers, I just listened the song and I still got goosebumps, his voice fits the song so well and this song is amazing.
Song almost made me emotional, I got extremely attached to the character of Arthur, how he was aware of how much he messed up in his life, how he wanted to redeem himself and actually didn't want to hurt anybody if he could avoid it. He had an amazing soul, and did so many bad things, then all of a sudden he gets the info that he has turbocolusis, knowing that his life is already over by then. And the betrayal of Micah and Dutch, how stupid Dutch was and decided to let him be killed by the hands of Micah aswell. This game and the story of this game was so beautiful, and it was so well written and created, I loved every single peace of it.
I can truly imagine a ragged, worn down Arthur sitting by the last campfire the gang shared as an actual family. He's tired, he's losing (goddamn) faith in Dutch's plans, he's realised everyone's truly losing their way, and he's almost damn well accepted that Micah's buried himself deep in Dutch's ear. He sings one last song for the gang, half as a farewell and half praying and hoping someone would listen to his thoughts and come to their senses that the gang has truly become what they swore to avoid. Very well done
im crying so hard man, I just cant. haven't in years. Arthur morgen, is like a brother cooler older brother to me. i am weird for taking so much emotion from a damn game...
I’m in mid 30’s with kids and this game hits me like no other storyline. Raw humanity from darkest to light. We all have a bit of Arthur inside us and fight battles like his everyday.
2:20 its insane how well this song fits Arthur. And this part really shows it, Dutch had become the very type of person he hates. Greedy, self serving, callous, cruel. While Arthur stayed true to not only himself but the gang's values. He helped those that needed help, fed those as needed feeding, and killed those as needed killing. And not just killed for personal gain, but to help protect those he cared about. Arthur didnt change, he is still right there. He even says so to John during the mission where you blow up the train tracks, "I wish things were different... but it werent us who changed."
“Everyone I know…Goes away…in the end” This is so fitting as he really did lose everything. Dutch, Bill, Javier and Micah betrayed him, Hosea, Lenny, Sean and so many others were dead, Mary left him and his wife and son were dead.
I remember my first play through I was lowest honor possible until the last few acts I wanted Arthur to have a change of heart and try to be high honor. Every cutscene was the black coyote right up until the very last scene as Arthur dies and he sees the white doe. One of the most amazing gaming experiences ever. This song gives me the same vibes.
2:21 When arthur says "you are someone else" and shows him talking to dutch is so well done, symbolizes that arthur doesn't know the new dutch at this point in the story
The best fan content really brings out emotion. Hearing this pulls me right back through Arthurs story and its such an emotional experience. Keep up the good work man.
dude this song fits arthur to well the song is about regretting ones own life and i do think in the end arthur regreted his life all of it other than helping john's family, he never liked the man he was and that makes be cry
I would love to also see one of John singing this, Seeing as he was the last member of his gang to get out of crime and had to return to gunslinging just to capture the people he once called friends.

Arthur Morgan... A strong man that can stand up for himself but also a stronger man that stands up for others.
Probably the best Arthur AI cover and it’s ironic given the subject of the song. Bravo.
Thanks homie 🔥
I'm not really sure I see the irony.. What did you mean by this exactly? I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, I'm just curious

Yeah I think Johnny's voice and Arthur's voice are kinda similiar in a way, especially old Johnny

Definitely the best character ever written in a masterpiece of a story
Damn. Knowing either side of Arthur’s story……. This hits like a freight train
this song fits so well with Arthurs character development. Unreal
