I've always been fascinated by the idea of the "past chosen one" in fiction. This figure whose role it was to do good and save the world, but was unable to do so for some reason. Characters we admire and respect, but also feel sad for because we know they weren't able to do all they hoped to do. Anakin, Roku, Mara, characters whose quests tragically had to be picked up and finished by those who came after 😟
Me too. Those characters' purpose and journey, which we, the fans, invest into, are always the one that hit most in the feels. We see them grow, suffer, and put in difficult positions that pressures their decisions, knowing that the fate of their world/people depends on it. It hurts to see them fail, especially because of how human they are portrayed. The second generation characters, (Luke, Aang, Adora), are expected to be perfect and be the key/solution, but even with them, we see similar traits to their previous selves, how they need to overcome those flaws to fulfill their destinies, as well as seeking guidance, for they can't do it alone.
@@galibrautbar3246 yeah and just like Korra, after Aang ended the war and did his things, she’s got one hell of a guy to live up to and she feels that burden. She’s got to deal with people that don’t think the avatar is useful anymore, that try to end the cycle.

She didn't want to die. But by her sacrifice, she gave the universe a chance at a better outcome. She gave everyone who came after one thing many never even dream of. Hope. That's who Mara is, Hope. And I think that's beautifully tragic.
Although, Leaves From The Vine is sung by an actor that was about to die (And he actually did after the song) so I feel like Mako is the one we should all talk about...

My dad thinks I'm crazy to be obsessed with a kid's show where the main cast is literally princesses with sparkle powers. But Mara is a PERFECT example as to why She Ra is amazingly written. They take a trope of the past chosen one or just the chosen one and make it tragic. She didn't want to die, but she did the right thing. They took this character, who has like 3 minutes of screen time, and made her an unforgettable protagonist which pretty much everyone sympathized with. Not only did they give us a character arc in 3 minutes of screen time but they also gave us questions of existentialism, heroism, and nihilism. Not only did they give us that but they gave us a perfect twist to the chosen one arc and left you speechless because of not one, but THREE things: One, that Mara was a hero. Two, that She-Ra is a lie. Three, that there is an entire universe to explore. Mara's story gave us a perfect ending to the first arc of the story and gave a perfect introduction to the expansive universe of the She-Ra world. The writers of She-Ra really did care about their writing and I respect the hell out of that.
I think Noelle confirmed, that Mara and Lighthope were in Love. Just imagine how painfull it must have been for Mara in her last moments to find the woman she loved was rebooted/replaced with one that looks and sounds like her, but isn't...
In my mind, light hope was a real person and her hologram is made of her memories (like allura's dad from Voltron) and that her and Mara meet again in the afterlife and get to be together forever.
I think you all forget that If there would be a show about Mara you'd all fall into deep depression in the end when she dies. Including me. A Mara show would be the fulfilling of my dreams

Ngl, seeing that hologram of Mara in her ship for the first time kinda reminded me that she is still human (in a way. Human like? I dunno how you talk about aliens that are basically humans. Anyway). I think that my mind subconsciously made her look a whole lot more like the She-Ra images we see throughout the show, so seeing her as a normal person, scared and alone, is really shocking (at least for me).
