Thankfully they were or we would have been deprived of this beautiful cover of an already deeply meaningful song.
On another reaction video someone who was there that night watching the Conan show said the audience was struck still mesmerized and when he stopped singing they did not stop clapping and cheering for well over 5 or 6 minutes they had to be calmed down. You should also watch the official video. The imagery is stunning.
what shocks most people is that he was fairly ill when he did this live ... he had a flu ! ... he still managed to pull it off .. the film clip "non live" version is stil my fav .... he reaches in so much deeper and uses his sublime control and articulation of voice to an extreme .... hes very special in the voice and control that he has and will be one of the names forever more along side only a hand full of others with such tallents

I'm 66 years old and grew up listening to mostly rock and absolutely love David Draiman's version of this song I had son that loved Disturbed I would listen with him I wish he could have lived to hear David sing this he would have loved it I lost him 9 years ago
Such a nice breath of fresh air. A reactor that allows the art and artist to really shine. I've seen way too many reactors who think the goal is to upstage the original artist. Almost every time if we viewers are watching a reaction to a singer... we already freaking know the brilliance that's there! We didn't come to see a 4th year violin student tell us what Heifitz did and didn't get right in one of his performances. (I'm not saying you're the equivalent of that 4th year violin student, but a LOT of reactors are.) If I'm sitting with a friend watching a beautiful sunset... the sunset IS even better if I know my friend is savoring it as much as I am. It's WONDERFUL to enjoy something together.... but if my friend starts giving me a breakdown analysis of the subtle shift in tone from reds to rose's to amber and the dynamic impact of a streak of dark clouds... well I'm probably going to tell her or him, "With all due respect... shut the f¥çk up! Your clumsy, pedantic breakdown is like someone who just came in from the barn with shite all over their boots and starts walking around on my cream colored floor to show me what contrast is all about." For students of music, whether amateur or professional, there is ABSOLUTELY the need to do a breakdown of what was so fantastic... but it should be done at the end, as you so rightly did. During the analysis, intersperse comments with a part of the video that you're referring to, no problem. Just not this p1$$1ng all over the art by constant interruptions the way almost every reactor does. The way you did it Peter was perfect! Just perfect! I have only one criticism, but it's not about you. Get a better mic or mixer, or both. Your loud notes when you were singing were way distorted & blown out. Your comments and timing of those comments were spot on, however.
Thank you very very much for taking the time to comment and give me constructive criticism. Thank you for your praise as well. Thank you for watching. Much love and greetings from Australia. Stay safe

Kudos to Paul Simon 4 these amazing words… I cried the first time I heard this song. Blessing from the 🇺🇸 US
This is my favourite version. David sang this when he was sick and had to be carried off afterwards. Paul Simon was 23 when he wrote this song and it is considered a warning to mankind to listen to the pulse of what was ocurring worldwide. David's version is what will happen if we do not heed the original warning. The power and control of his voice comes from him training to be a cantor, and comes from a long line of cantors.
i could listen to him singing this song over and over. and thanks bout time someone listened to a song all the way through and didnt pause. so we get to enjoy it all. thanks you
'The Light' by Disturbed is there normal sound but the official video will hammer your heart. The official video for 'The Sound of Silence' will hammer your soul. Give both a watch even if you don't do reactions.
Simon and Garfunkle wrote and performed the original ofbthisbin the 60’s. You might enjoy hearing how different it is from this version. This version is more fitting for the words, than the original S and G version. They sang it more as a light folk song feel. David’s voice is incredible and he is classically trained.
Stunning! Thank you for reacting to this song. Since you said you haven't heard The Sound of Silence before, I highly recommend watching the original by Simon and Garfunkel. This will further illustrate the brilliance of David Draiman's rendition of this classic.
Just so you know. David Draiman was formally trained as a Cantor (Jewish prayer leader, they sing prayers) throughout his elementary and high school years. He attended 5 different Semite boarding schools, three of which he was Expelled from.

Yes!! Australia... My Gram and Grandfather are from Melbourne. I haven't been back in 20 yrs and miss my relatives. Great review of this song! Draiman is an awesome vocalist!!
My interpretation of this song, revised: This song is written with two separate people or consciousnesses singing it. Those that are waking up and those that have been awake for a very long time. The first, third and fifth verse is sung from the perspective of the unawakened and the second and forth verse are sung from the perspective of the awakened. Hello, darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence Hello, darkness, my old friend is about people that have been kept in the dark and they're telling the darkness that they are experiencing something new in their vision. They (the awakened/aware ones) planted the seeds of truth/Light, and they are just starting to become aware. In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a streetlamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence There are fewer of the awakened, and they feel as if they are alone under the Light of truth, because they refused to by into the lies the dark has been trying to feed them. Then one day they saw a crack in the armor of dark, they saw a opportunity to break the sound of silence. And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share No one dared Disturb the sound of silence And in that moment they saw all of the light workers/star seeds (awakened Ones) telling those that were still asleep the truth/Light, through telepathy those that were sleeping heard and saw the truth/Light in a very subtle way, but yet they couldn't share this Light/truths with anyone for fear of being attacked by those that controlled the sound of silence. They wrote the truth in songs, the truth had to be give covertly as not to disturb the sound of silence (the dark). And when the people became aware of the Light/truth and realized that they had been in darkness the whole time, it really pissed them off. "Fools," said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you." But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence They reached out to those still in slumber, trying to give them Light/truths, but they wouldn't open their minds to new truths, instead remained in the sound of silence. And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence." The people were so caught up in working hard to pay for all of the things, the boats, cars, electronics, all of the toys that they covet. They couldn't see or hear the truth, they were too distracted by consumerism. The awakened/prophets have been trying to tell them through their songs and poems, and that whisper of Light/truth awakened the people from their slumber and they became ONE. Did you notice the ship sailing into the Light at the end of the studio version?
I really like the way u critiqued . You did stop the performance every 2 seconds. You actually listened to the entire song to understand its full impact. EXCELLENT.

Thank you. And greetings from Melbourne Australia🙇🏻♂️
I see others have mentioned that he was sick that night. You have to watch the original video version.... he's so powerful. And with the vision of the video it is even more elevated
I agree. Everyone needs to see the official video to get the full impact of not only David's vocals but the power of the images in the video. Love this version just as much as I loved the original by S&G back in the 60's. :)
Paul Simon gave his blessing to this version. Paul and Art's version was a warning, Disturbed's version is the anger of a warning not heeded.
Such a strong and powerful voice. This is a stunning version. I was around when it came out in the 60's
I’ve subbed because I loved your genuine, well thought out and informative reaction BUT also because you didn’t stop the song 20 times and destroy our listening experience. 💜🤘🏿💜
Absolutely agree 100000 %
🎯
There is a haunting beauty to davids voice when he wants there to be. This was so different from what he and his band usually do that he didn't even know if his band mates would be on board.
I get goosebumps and Tears in my eyes EVERY TIME I hear this but when he did this SAME thing But GOES RIGHT TO MY HEART AND SOUL! GOD BLESSED THIS GUY FOR SURE! WOW! WOW! WOW!!! AMEN
Probably the absolute best version of this song ever done, freaking awesome job
This is my favorite rendition of this song. His interpretation truly brings out the true meaning of the lyrics. Simon & Garfunkel sang to alarm us, he sang to give us a final warning. You should watch their music video version. It is as beautiful as it is haunting.
Greetings from Melbourne Australia
His training as a cantor in Israel certainly shows through on this!
I'm 66 years old and grew up listening to mostly rock and absolutely love David Draiman's version of this song I had son that loved Disturbed I would listen with him I wish he could have lived to hear David sing this he would have loved it I lost him 9 years ago
My condolences. It sounds like you have great memories of your son. Hold those close to your heart. Massive love
Stay safe
This Fellow is like NO OTHER! There is no criticism! How dear those who say anything other! AWESOME JUST AWESOME! Simon and Garfunkel should be sooooo proud of their “remake” of such a HREAT SONG I GREW UP TO
The Garfunkel version was for us school kids to dance to. This version is to listen to and absorb. Love it. Listened 100 times so far. Lol
Goosebumps within the 1st two lines...just wait
Your’s is so far my favorite reaction & u gave respect, letting it play straight thru!!!
The singing is so amazing, I wouldn’t b able to refrain stopping to comment… so thank u for that!!! His voice is like butter to my ears ( no pun ) & equally the lyrics, which I barely never noticed, takes you on a journey!!!! Kudos to Paul Simon 4 these amazing words… I cried the first time I heard this song. Blessing from the 🇺🇸 US
Thank you! And thank you for watching. Stay safe.
He makes you feel the song.
i could listen to him singing this song over and over. and thanks bout time someone listened to a song all the way through and didnt pause. so we get to enjoy it all. thanks you
Thank you for watching. Stay safe
You have fantastic facial expressions! This song will do that to you! Great reaction!
He was actually sick during this performance... amazing skills
'The Light' by Disturbed is there normal sound but the official video will hammer your heart. The official video for 'The Sound of Silence' will hammer your soul. Give both a watch even if you don't do reactions.
Will do. Thank you for watching. Stay safe
Also please watch “the light” and “hold on to memories” great songs
Your reaction has been my favorite thus far. David doesn't nearly get the credit he deserves.
Thank you very much for your kind words. Much love and greetings from Australia
Absolutely LOVE this version, gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it and also makes me so emotional ❤️❤️
It’s like the song was written for David ❤
I will dare to say that I prefer this to Simon and Garfunkel's version
Yes agreed!!!!
I definitely do.
100% yes
Simon himself praised this version.
So does Paul Simon!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL
Bravo! Glad this has finally made it down under!
Thank you and big love and greetings from Melbourne Australia
Simon and Garfunkle wrote and performed the original ofbthisbin the 60’s. You might enjoy hearing how different it is from this version. This version is more fitting for the words, than the original S and G version. They sang it more as a light folk song feel.
David’s voice is incredible and he is classically trained.
This mans version makes me FEEL so much emotion within myself!!! Gives me goosebumps!!!!
SUBSCRIBED!! THANK YOU for not interrupting the performance for analytics, and respecting the performer. THAT is a true reaction video.
Thank you. And thank you for watching
If you think the live version is wow, you should watch the official video. You will really get goosebumps.
This is my favorite cover ever 🖤 They also do an amazing cover of Sting’s If I Ever Lose My Faith In You.
You, my friend, have a 100% of my respect for not stopping the song and actually Listening to the whole thing till the end keep it up love your work
Thank you, and thank you for watching
Very good reaction indeed, I've only recently found this cover myself.. I prefer this to the original version..
David was sick with the flu during this performance, and sitting if you noticed.
Says something about his abilities.
He had the covid?
@@ropedb ..No, this performance was in 2016, I believe.
Stunning! Thank you for reacting to this song. Since you said you haven't heard The Sound of Silence before, I highly recommend watching the original by Simon and Garfunkel. This will further illustrate the brilliance of David Draiman's rendition of this classic.
Absolutely incredible, soul intense, so moving just superberb... gripping... LOVE IT!!!!
I tear up every time I watch it, so powerful and emotional and bravo to u for playing it straight through without pausing it👏👏👏
My grandmother passed at 95 but she loved disturbed.. nana miss & love you.. I played this at her funeral
True rocker
Respect!
Just so you know. David Draiman was formally trained as a Cantor (Jewish prayer leader, they sing prayers) throughout his elementary and high school years. He attended 5 different Semite boarding schools, three of which he was Expelled from.
He was actually sick during this performance. Still sounds great. You should react to their actual video. Love both videos.
That's a great idea. I'll do that. Thank you for watching and your suggestion.
I've watched many reviews on this song coverd by Disturbed. Your's the first one that plays all the way through with your reaction explained at the end. That was cool.
Thank you John. That's the way I like to do it. Greetings from Melbourne Australia.
I'm obsessed with this song
I have watched quite of few of these Vocal Coach Reaction videos. You can see the swarm of emotions flow over all of them. This remake triggers every human emotion. Thank you for telling the story again.
Bro love your reaction.. absolutely blown away that's the best life performance I have ever seen that dude ain't no joke good Lord absolutely beautiful where would we be without music tell me right now where would we be
Thank you. And thank you for watching.
The official video is even more amazing and no auto tone
Thank you for watching. I will check it out
great reaction to a great performance
Thank you and greetings from Melbourne Australia
I love the zero interruptions and just watching you react… epic… Thank you!🙏🏼💕
Yes!! Australia... My Gram and Grandfather are from Melbourne. I haven't been back in 20 yrs and miss my relatives. Great review of this song! Draiman is an awesome vocalist!!
Thank you and greetings from Melbourne Australia.🎤
My interpretation of this song, revised:
This song is written with two separate people or consciousnesses singing
it. Those that are waking up and those that have been awake for a very
long time. The first, third and fifth verse is sung from the perspective
of the unawakened and the second and forth verse are sung from the
perspective of the awakened.
Hello, darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
Hello, darkness, my old friend is about people that have been kept in
the dark and they're telling the darkness that they are experiencing
something new in their vision. They (the awakened/aware ones) planted
the seeds of truth/Light, and they are just starting to become aware.
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a streetlamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
There are fewer of the awakened, and they feel as if they are alone
under the Light of truth, because they refused to by into the lies the
dark has been trying to feed them. Then one day they saw a crack in
the armor of dark, they saw a opportunity to break the sound of silence.
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
And in that moment they saw all of the light workers/star seeds
(awakened Ones) telling
those that were still asleep the truth/Light, through telepathy
those that were sleeping heard and saw the truth/Light in a very subtle
way,
but yet they couldn't share this Light/truths with anyone for fear of
being attacked
by those that controlled the sound of silence.
They wrote the truth in songs, the truth had to be give covertly as not
to disturb the sound of silence (the dark). And when the people became
aware of the
Light/truth and realized that they had been in darkness the whole time,
it really pissed them off.
"Fools," said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
They reached out to those still in slumber, trying to give them
Light/truths, but they wouldn't open their minds to new truths, instead
remained in the sound of silence.
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence."
The people were so caught up in working hard to pay for all of the
things, the boats, cars, electronics, all of the toys that they covet.
They couldn't see or hear the truth, they were too distracted by
consumerism. The awakened/prophets have been trying to tell them through
their songs and poems, and that whisper of Light/truth awakened the
people from their slumber and they became ONE. Did you notice the ship
sailing into the Light at the end of the studio version?
WOW! Thank you for your insight and thank you for watching. Stay safe.
I really like the way u critiqued . You did stop the performance every 2 seconds. You actually listened to the entire song to understand its full impact. EXCELLENT.
Thank you! Have a fantastic 2023
You felt it right away. Same as me. But I have been listening to Disturbed for 2 decades.
