Consider decorating for winter! Ice skates, sleds, skis, woodland animals, white tipped pine cones, TONS of white twinkle lights and candles! Add sherpa throws and knit pillows to snuggle with. Replaced the Christmas tree with several (under 3ft) white lit trees - so bright- scattered on end tables, counters and hearth. This year I invested in filling all my picture frames with snowy/winter photos I’ve taken over the years! So sentimental! Add snowflake and icicle lights to mantles and windows and you’ll have the coziest home ever! I LOVE it!! I’ll add some hearts here and there in February, shamrocks in March. This Michigan girl embraces the winter our Lord blesses us with!
@@tammylewis6296 oh it really is! We finally got our first real snowfall, in my area, yesterday - temps won't top mid 20's for more than a week - fireplaces lit and baked goods are in the oven. Love our Michigan winters!!❄️
Andrea you are such a beautiful, dedicated, biblical woman that has such a passion for her family and home! God bless you and your family. I enjoy your videos and soft touching voice. Thank you so much for taking us on your journey through life. 🙏❤️
Awww..I feel the same way about Christmas! I get so sad. The last few years, it's helped to do some winter decorating. So, will leave up small trees with pretty white lights , few snowmen, ⛄️cozy blankets and pillows. It helps me to enjoy God's Winter season, Your house looks cozy and beautiful! Nice to see the whole family helping.❄️⛄️🛷🌲
First, I have been watching your videos for a long time now. You, your home and family are lovely! Thank you for all that you do and the blessing that you are to so many! I stopped this video, a third of the way through to say, no, you are not the only one who is sad to take Christmas decor down! I too have been slowly taking things down and putting them away. But it makes me sad, even as at the same time I'm feeling the need to freshen things up and declutter. I nearly cried when the tree had to go (just 2 days ago), it was so dry and wilty...❤
You are not alone in your feelings of sadness when you take down Christmas. I always do as well. I have lights that I leaving up on our hutch and mantle. I also add light to some of my artificial plants or flowers to make things look cozy and not so bleak in the winter.
There are no rules. I leave clear lights out and on all year. My husband calls them happy lights, and why not? Whatever it takes to be a little happier. Lovely vlog.
I love taking down Christmas cuz I put up Valentine's decorations which I love. Pinks, reds, and white. Artificial flowers, quilts, pictures and blocks with love sayings on them or in them.
We live in southern Idaho. It is a winter wonderland here. I have snowflake lights around my porch. They come on at dark and twinkle until 11. They can stay up through March and my few country neighbors enjoy them too. Our home is over 100 years old. I love the cottage feel.
Hi there - love your channel 😊 I was over the moon when we moved here to Bulgaria from England - in England, the decorations come down on the 6th of January every year or it’s considered “bad luck”. Here in Bulgaria, people leave their Christmas trees up even until February! Wherever you go, you will see Christmas decorations in January - which I think is brilliant because that’s when you need all those extra lights the most to cheer up the dark days😊
I totally understand how you feel about taking down the Christmas decor! We go up into our mountains each year to pick out our Frasier Fir Christmas tree. They're getting to be really pricey, but the memories my husband and I have made over the years doing this is priceless! We took down all our Christmas decor (except for our tree) in early January. It's always sad for me to say goodbye to all the holiday cheer throughout my home. January is a hard month for me anyway, so packing away all that decor tends to make me a bit teary. The last to exit our home was our beautiful Christmas tree. I knew it was time to let go, but it was hard. The beauty, the symmetry, the smell of that tree...sigh. So on Sunday, January 14th, we moved the tree outside to our back yard. There we can still enjoy our tree whenever we go outside and the birds love it. But, yeah, I get it...saying goodbye to Christmas is a bit of a sentimental experience for me each year. This year, however; I did decide to leave up a little winter decor to cheer me. A few snowmen here & there keep the house looking warm & cozy until Spring.
I always keep small skinny pine trees year round. Definitely not as much as what I decorate with at Christmas but my home is very cottage like, lots of natural elements included. Pheasant feathers birds nests birdhouses etc. keeps my house cozy year round.
*Play Christmas music!!!* It seems simple and silly, but has been the best game changer for me: when putting away Christmas and trying to avoid the blues, play Christmas music! It doesn’t seem like it would work, but because we already associate it with the pleasant act of preparing _for_ Christmas, it somehow works in reverse as well!!! 🙌🏻 Give it a try!
I would leave the swag above the bed up year round. With the white lights it doesn’t really look like Christmas. My house seemed so gloomy when I took the tree down but like others mentioned I have a lot of battery timer candles year round and also a couple vases with sprays of lights mixed in with flower arrangement and greenery. Was so tempted to leave the tree with white lights only minus all the ornaments and angel. 😊. Maybe next year.
I leave up 2 tress for winter for the same reason and it helps tremendously and very cozy for the winter months! Follow your heart and do what makes you happy 🌲 ❄️
1/18/24. I picked up a Modern Farmhouse Style Magazine today while running errands. I was pleasantly surprised to see you, your family & home profiled beginning on page 28. Great work Andrea.
Love seeing your beautiful home. The light in your home is wonderful. We are having 45°C here in Western Queensland Australia but is lovely to be part of your contented home.
I keep a small pine tree in basket on fireplace area to help keep that festive winter feeling. I just placed a Valentine's gnome near it. Congratulations on the launch of your homemaking blog. Also, thanks for an easy dinner idea. 😊
Hi Andrea, I feel the same. Christmas is my favorite time of celebration and it's very sad to have to take down all the decorations. But your house will always look cozy and beautiful. I love the bread and also seeing how everyone in your home helps each other to keep the place nice and clean. Mike and the kids are really supportive. Thanks for the inspiration always. God bless this beautiful family. Much love 💕
I was so sad for you to take down all that beautiful and cozy decor. I wanted to tell you you didn’t have to;) this year I decided to leave up all my greenery and lights the whole winter season and I love it. Helps with the cold and dreary season. Thank you for the recipe ideas! I LOVE when you share recipes. You cook similar to how I do and I love new inspiration. I do lots of sourdough but haven’t tried an artisan loaf yet… thinking I will soon. Thank you again for all your beautiful content.💛
Even though I'm sad to take down Christmas.I do love getting my home warm and cozy for winter.I live in Wisc.and we have s major snow storm coming in today and tommorow.Your home is slways beautiful.
I feel the same way you do about putting my Christmas things away Andrea. Honestly, I still have most of mine up. Taking the tree down tomorrow. We are in full blown blizzard mode here so it will give me something to do besides watching the snow pile up. My amaryllis are in full bloom now (red and white ones) so that makes me smile. Like you, I have many green plants that I have around the house and they of course, are around all year, so my home isn't devoid of green. I do love the soft lights that all the Christmas decor has though and miss that. My Hubby suggested that I leave the little fairy lights in my pinecone bowl on the coffee table and across the top of my little hutch in the kitchen to brighten the long winter nights . I am going to do that this year. Thanks for this video. Glad to know I am not the only one that misses my Christmas trees and decor. 😀
I did not know that other ppl cried like me every year to take down Christmas. I just feel like I feel close to Jesus with Christmas up. Your husband is a good man comforting you through it. Same like mine lol. Thanks for sharing and I hope y’all have a blessed new year darlings ❤
It is sad talking down Christmas decor. I eased the pain by using tons of greenery this year and only needed to remove all red berries, red candles along with obvious Christmas decor. I’m very pleased with the result.
✨✨I do and feel the same! So sad to take down Christmas. Start a few days after New Years taking some things to our basement. Last is the tree and it’s heartbreaking. I have tears! My husband helps with the lights and tear down also joking and cheering me up. I organize and curate as I’m packing away. I do a deep clean the next day. Finally, I go out shopping for some new plants, especially a white orchid. I’m starting to get a good fresh feeling again! Happy New Year ANDREA!! ✨✨✨
I take anything christmasy down right after Christmas but leave the greens and twinkle lights up and add eucalyptus etc . I make sourdough bread as well 🤤I love your home .
You are not the only one! My birthday is the end of January and I have smarted leaving it all up until after my birthday. I love it too much to take it all down and by then I’m usually more ready
Since we do not have a working fireplace I actually keep my tree up with snowflakes and wax heart ornaments (my mom and I made years ago) and tucked in the branches are some felt mice my daughter (now 24) made when she was younger. I add snowmen and vintage Valentines and winter books or t framed artwork. After February my home is finally put in order for Spring. 😊 Your home is beautiful and thanks for sharing the recipes.
You should try the Swedish tradition of making a party taking the tree down. It’s called julgransplundring and we sing and dance around the tree holding hands and eat candy with the children. Then we chuck the tree out the door or window. It helps.
I actually love taking down my Christmas decor after the holidays. I’m so sick of it by then! And then the house feels more open and airy, and uncluttered. It feels good! And then the hearts come out for valentines💗
I love Christmas too but I am so happy to take down everything, pack it up and store it for another year. I am relieved to simplify and to have the space in my home back.
I am like you. I am so sad while taking Christmas decorations down. I think my house looks so lonely when it’s empty. I leave one tree up until after Valentine’s Day because a lot of the decorations have hearts on them. ❤
I hope this will help-we can't take down Christmas. Jesus never goes away and can't be packed up in a box. He dwells in our hearts. The stuff that isn't eternal, we pack up. I'm glad He is always near. Hope u feel better. LOVE the videos and always love to see how big the kids are getting. Blessings
I feel like the couch with the attached pillows tear so easy! I have one too and it’s the first one I’ve had with the attached pillows and it’s torn from the back! And I don’t have wild boys jumping on mine! Just one little girl! I have always had couches with just a thick backrest and no pillows and never had this issue!
Such a lovely video as always! I am making the hamburger, mashed potato and green bean dinner tonight! It looked delicious and I had to make it because it looks so simple. Thank you for sharing your easy dinner recipes.
You are definitely not the only one. Taking down Christmas is one of my least favorite things ever and i leave it up as long as possible. Thank you for another beautiful video!
Happy New Year, Andrea! My advise on the couch would be to buy a new one with a tight back. Works better with children and heavy use.:) Your hubby is such a keeper...love how he is always so helpful and caring.
It does give me a sad feeling too when taking down the Christmas tree and decorations. I do decorate for winter and use string or fairy lights and battery operated candles on a timer during this season. Thanks for the soy sauce alternative tip!
I leave up twinkle lights and mix them in grapevines on top of my cupboard. I also leave a small tree up, I have heart ornaments that get me till February. I love the cozy to. It's true do what you love.
Have you considered disconnecting those cushions and then just adding a similar color fabric to the back (hand sewn in) .and leave the cushions loose in front. If the cushions also need extra fabric can add a similar color/fabric. Saves getting a new couch.
Hi dear sweet lady. I know the feeling of having to let go of that cozy warm feeling. But can still warm your home with lights & candles, faux or real. Its what i do all year around. I cant let go of the warmth haha. But anyways. Thank you for sharing. I love watching your channel. It makes me happy. Hope you & family are doing well. Take care! ❤
Taking down our Christmas decor used to make me feel so sad, until I started putting up Valentine's Day decor. My aesthetic is a little bit different than yours, and I enjoy using sweet little vintage valentines to decorate. It just makes me feel so happy! Blessings to you and yours!
I love Christmas decor, but i put it up beginning of November so by January 1, i am ready to take it all down. Everything feels clean and fresh- i do have little white lights up all year in the window. Your home is so lovely!
Andrea, have you ever considered leaving the small tree in your bedroom up all year? I have a small tree in my bedroom & I sometimes decorate it for the seasons, or just leave the lights on. Gives off a very cozy vibe in the evenings and mornings. Just a thought. Your course sounds lovely. 😊❤😊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
That is so sweet that your hubby and kids helped you do all the house cleaning. Your home is beautiful Andrea. I know I have said that many times but your home is adorable.
I usually leave some up! I get panic attacks taking trees down! I’m 76! If one loves something as long as it ot our idol, it’s okay to feel sad when it’s gone! I had moved in June, we lost everything in August in a flood in Michigan and tomorrow I finally get to go home! Furniture has been given to us and our ladies Bible Study gave money to get me a new couch!😭😭😭 I will put some trees up when I get home! You are a joy to watch! 🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼
Yes, it is hard to take down Christmas decorations. It's such a special time of year with family and friends. After I cleaned our home. I put up my winter decor,. I used white candles on timers, ceramic white trees, deer and greenery. It helps bridge the seasonal gap and enjoy a cozy ambiance during the long days of winter. May God bless you and keep you. 🤍🦌💚
Andrea, have you ever used a faux tree in your decorating after Christmas decor comes down? They make them so realistic now. May God bless your family abundantly in this upcoming year.
Thank you for sharing the recipe. I've gotten some good ones from you over the years and I love them all. The potato recipe you made in your Christmas video was amazingly good. Everyone wanted the recipe. I too am sad that all the Christmas decor is down, especially on our street. We don't have street lights where I live so the Christmas lights are always a gift. What others have said is true, your home always feels cozy no matter the season.
Thanks for the quick recipes. You can always keep A small tree of some kind, whether it be a table top or small floor size, with lights, year round. Before I moved from NC i kept a snail 4ft in the corner of my living room and decorated it for each holiday, just with something simple, i didn't go all out. But it brought me lots of joy! I moved to Tennessee a little over 4yrs ago and although i don't have a tree here tear round (home is very small) i have strings of lights mixed in some of my plants (fake ones) and battery operated candles around the house, lots of small lamps.. just different things to keep some ambiance. And of course i keep the electric fireplace on pretty much all the time. We'll be moving into a larger space this year so I'll probably have my tree again lol. Enjoyed today's video!
I can relate on taking down Christmas 🎄 I couldn’t take down my tree just yet 🥰 I did take all the ornaments off but added some faux snow ❄️ stems throughout the tree to keep my winter ❄️ theme for January 😍 Thnk you for sharing as always especially your yummy recipes the BREaD 🤤😋👍🏼 God bless💞
I become sad when the tree comes down, that's why it's still up! I will soon be looking for limbs on my property. I want to paint them white with black streaks to resemble birch then turn into a tree. I will add fairy lights so I don't miss the illumination! Michigan winters are too gloomy!
Why not leave some soft white lights out all year? Top of the cabinets? I do and I love it and I also have a slim tree in the family room out all year with white lights. It’s a big night light!!
Hi Andrea, I've been following you for a long time now. I'm also a PK (preacher's kids) LOL, with 4 kids, but I'm much older than you, (a grammy now). You remind me so much of me when I was your age! I also cry every year when I take down my decorations. I just took them down today, cried, and sent pics to my BFFs, my home feels, empty also, and I made the same meal you did! The asian orange chicken! Anyway, I'm excited about joining your course, heading there now to sign up!!!
Definatly a sad day...but yesterday I felt : it IS over....so good bye till next year, whatever happens until then.. today I feel like I should renovate the house...my typical reaction after christmas😂.

That's a wonderful idea! Winter can be rather dreary. It is nice to celebrate and decorate for winter. Thanks for sharing your cozy ideas.
I have a friend that keeps a slim Christmas tree in the corner of her living room all year. Helps prevent Christmas sadness.
Several people I know do that! 😊

Such great meal ideas. I was thinking you could still string your Christmas lights over your bed for ambiance on these cold cold winter nights.
I keep Christmas decor up til at least end of January.
I cry every Christmas
I leave it up till the 3 kings
I love Christmas

I decorate my tree for Valentines Day! It makes it a kinder transition from Christmas.

Love this video and your sweater is beautiful!
Hamburger Gravy over mashed potatoes with green beans! Our family favorite too.

Those flower plants really brighten your home!!! It feels so good when you take down Christmas and seep clean your home!!!
If/When you buy a new sofa, get a tight back cushion so the boys can't pull it loose. Then get it in a Crypton fabric to repel stains and liquids.
Nice dinner. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! 😊
I left the lights on my mantle for the winter i just call it my winter decor 😊
Andrea, have you ever considered leaving the small tree in your bedroom up all year? I have a small tree in my bedroom & I sometimes decorate it for the seasons, or just leave the lights on. Gives off a very cozy vibe in the evenings and mornings. Just a thought. Your course sounds lovely. 😊❤😊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I will check out your sourdough recipe on your blog! ❤
Thank you for the sauce receipt. I'm allergic to soy sauce so will give this a try.
I wish I would of left a tree up for the white lights.i always change all my decor after Christmas
That is so sweet that your hubby and kids helped you do all the house cleaning. Your home is beautiful Andrea. I know I have said that many times but your home is adorable.
Thank you so much! 😊
Your home is so lovely.
Oh my goodness, that’s terrible. So sweet that your ladies helped to get a new couch! Thank you for your kind words! 😊
I just found your channel. It’s really nice. Thanks for sharing x
Oh my goodness. I make hamburg gravy all the time!! Sooo good!!!
Tried out the Asian marinade tonight… absolutely delicious!! I substituted the coconut aminos for soy sauce though x
Yes I get sad too, love all the Christmas feels 😊
Your home is such a sweet and safe harbor home.
Sounds so pretty!! 😊
Andrea, have you ever used a faux tree in your decorating after Christmas decor comes down? They make them so realistic now.
May God bless your family abundantly in this upcoming year.
I love your home! It’s my first time on your channel and I already got a few ideas to bring into my home. Thank you. Love from Argentina 🇦🇷
Wow! Thank you so much! 😊
I keep simple winter decor up and that includes 2tree with just lights ..😊until end of January
I love putting Christmas decor up …. When taking it down makes me happy because it’s seems like it feels like a fresh start.
It definitely does, I just have to get over the initial shock haha! 😊
Not real wet...just slightly damp...I do that with my slip covers...
Hi Andrea. You are not alone...I too get sad when taking Christmas down. Enjoyed your video as always.
Thank you so very much! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the recipes too! 😊
I love taking Christmas down but miss the lights.
Awww I feel the same way
Thanks for the quick recipes.
Sounds wonderful! 😊
Loved this! So calming and motivating!
Thank you! I’m so glad! 😊
Sounds very pretty! Enjoy that bread! 😊
I love that picture behind you when you start talking about the homemaking course! Your entire home is gorgeous!
Thank you!! 😊
Those beige bowls look beautiful with plants in them and big baskets also a beautiful container to store Christmas🌲 ornaments in...thanks for the idea
You’re welcome! 😊
I leave a star garland with subtle twinkle light on my mantle during cold temps. So relaxing. Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family.
Thanks so much! 😊
Hi Andrea,
I've been following you for a long time now.
I’m so glad!! I hope you enjoy the course!! 😊
Definatly a sad day...but yesterday I felt : it IS over....so good bye till next year, whatever happens until then.. today I feel like I should renovate the house...my typical reaction after christmas😂.
Haha I get that too! 😊
