First off excellent Masterclass. Great teacher. Just as an aside joke/comment, could you imagine asking EF to do something else? Like if his wife asked him to do laundry. He'd go into the history of the washing clothes and the development of the washing machine as it is today, and so on.
Who is the first guitarist? He was excellent! He ripped thru Torre Bermeja! That is a phenomenal composition! I love it! What is the second piece? Chaconne BWV1004? What is the third piece? I remember Segovia playing it.
Sorry E, but there is a new sheriff in town and her name is Vera Danilina. Simply astounding virtuosity and musicality. You have always been my favorite guitarist( we met several tiimes in the late 70s ), but she just blows me away. The precision, the tone is sublime and plays so effortlessly.
Wonderful master Fisk, but uncritically parroting here the myth of Al Andalus as a happy Arcadia. Ask the likes of Maimonides how open and tolerant the Moors were compared to the Christians of that age. Very much alike by modern-day parameters. But we should look at both as products of their times.
Torre Bermeja by Isaac ALBENIZ .The performer is Jack Davisson. He is about 17 yerars old .He and his sister,Elle DAVISSON ( about 14 years old) are very talented performers. We will hear their names in near future in all guitar world. The mentor Eliot FISK is one of the GREATEST guitarist in the world.
Disingenuous to reduce Spain to bullfighting. There are extremes in all human groups. (Such an extreme would be some Spaniards love it, but some others loathe that spectacle.) Being a fan of bullfighting is not requirement to being Spanish, as one can imagine. Such quips are unforgivable caricatures and beneath a scholar and artist such as yourself!
This is a MOST excellent Masterclass... of value to ANY musician. The 1st student is crazy good and LEARNS well.
What an inspiring momment! la puerta del sol
What guitare does mr Fisk uses? Has a bit this flamenco sound, very good for Albeniz.

Strange he says the Bach gavotte is sad ,wonder who made up that rule.😥
This is fascinating, but makes me feel very old-school. Does NOBODY just use a footstool anymore? Lol
