  • Mikhail Gorbachev, the former Soviet leader who brought the Cold War to a peaceful end, has died aged 91.
Mr Gorbachev, who took power in 1985, opened up the Soviet Union to the world and introduced a set of reforms at home.
But he was unable to prevent the slow collapse of the Soviet Union, from which modern Russia emerged.
Tributes have been paid worldwide, with UN chief António Guterres saying he "changed the course of history". US President Joe Biden called him a "rare leader".
However, many Russians never forgave their former leader for the turmoil that followed the collapse of the USSR.

But what he did he gave away the territories that our ancestors conquered for 1000 years without any compensation, moreover, he robbed his people when Russia took on the debts of other 14 countries. He tried, and he succeeded - he was so far ahead of his time - Russia will remember him, when they will see him for his humanity, and his forsight - Russia will pay and suffer what he tried to avoid. But why do we need to but head, when we try to talk about peace in the middle of a war. Not forgiving is not a christian nor a smart thing to do.
